Date night with the hubby was exactly what we needed after a long day. We chose Buffo for its great YYC Food and Drink Experience menu and it over delivered!
We ordered the bruschetta and charred romaine. So yummy with the sweet and savoury combination of veggies and apple slaw. The brisket and gnocchi was exactly the comfort food I needed after a long day. The brisket was so flavourful and the creamy buttery gnocchi was a great compliment (we were sharing our menus). The dessert sticker toffee with warm spice was amazing and the cardamom cake was reminiscent of my grandma’s Norwegian baking. Comfort and nostalgia!
The food was amazing and the restaurant was lovely and our service was exceptional. Roxanne was friendly, warm and professional. Roxanne clearly loves being of service and it shows. What a delight!!!! Looking forward to going back to Buffo soon.
Food was ok at best, charred romaine lettuce was quite small and minimal goat cheese.
Pasta was al dente and I appreciated that.
Desert of sticky toffee pudding was ok.
I saw reviews with high ratings which is why I chose this for lunch. More surprised after my experience as I didn't think it deserved the accolades. Maybe its just me.
We came in for YYC Food and drink experience because we tried it last year and were very impressed and again this year it was a fantastic experience food and service was awesome a very great value for only 30.00. Thank you very much
Decent food overall; the decor and look was quite nice and service was adequate. Issues were more with the food and drinks. The coffee was lukewarm and bitter while the sangria tasted extremely watery.
The food itself was fine but overall lacked flavour. While not an awful experience overall, there are cheaper and tastier options for Italian all around Calgary.
The service was average, the gluten free pizza was OK and it became quite noisy the longer we stayed.
More gluten free options would be great.
It met expectations. Although I wish this sticky toffee pudding was better. I have had better so it is hard to not compare. The staff were attentive and the ambience was great. I would go back there for the staff and the ambience along. Plan to go back for Sunday dinners.
A little disappointed that we went with the YYC Food Experience menu. We would have gotten more value for less with the regular menu! Also $16 drinks are absurd. Otherwise lovely staff, cozy decor, and delicious food.
We chose the Food Expo menu which was excellent value. The strawberries and cream, however, didn’t materialize and we got cake with strawberry jam in the middle instead.
Food was mediocre at best. The desert was something that seemed to be out of a box. Disappointed.
Terrible service, very poor quality food, and very over priced for what you get
Tucked away on the 2nd floor of Sak's, and accessible from the west parkade, this is a very charming little restaurant to meet friends, or refresh yourself after shopping at the mall. The service is excellent - all servers were friendly and helpful. I must admit I have had better Italian pizza and tiramisu, but for the location and the cost, I think the menu is very good. Nice wine list, too. Comfy seating and nice decor, my group of friends and I felt welcomed right away and had a nice visit; no need to shout - just had lovely conversation and dinner. I think this is a great food option for the area and I'll definitely be back. Thanks!
Brought our nephew out for his birthday. We have been to Buffo’s before, and enjoy the ambiance, food and service. We started with calamari and buffo bread, the calamari was fantastic, the bread a bit tough. Our main course - the guys had clams on white wine sauce, which was very enjoyable, I had the pasta special- linguini carbonara- which was a bit over done. I had had this dish the previous Tuesday and it was exceptional, so I was some disappointed with the dish this time. Overall my nephew had a very pleasant experience at Buffo’s.
The drinks and food was delicious. Will definitely come back. Had the penne pasta and peach bellini.
I was surprised as the quality of the food being part of Saks Fifth Avenue was expecting comparable quality of at least Earls or something like that but the Chicken was very dry and no concerns from the staff .......only that it is normal to have dry chicken.
Management did not care to address the concern
We really enjoyed our time at Buffo's this past weekend! The three course meal was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented! Service was excellent as well! We will be back!

Everything was great, the new buffo bread was pretty hard and aggressive to cut, BURRATA was delicious with the pistachio and grape. Nice combo

I enjoyed meeting my friend and the service was good. I was very disappointed with my chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was from the thigh and was very tough. To be fair I was told it was thigh meat but did not think it would be so bad!
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing! It’s a hidden gem on the backside of the mall attached to Saks Fifth Ave - SO great!
Sadly, I cannot recommend the risotto, as both times it has been overcooked. The mushroom bruschetta was tasty, even though the toast was slightly burnt. I also would recommend the pan fried calamari over the crispy, even though I have never tried it. I own up to not saying anything to the server because she did not need to have that kind of night, where everything was described as shallow and flat tasting.
In the hope of being constructively critical, my intent is to review what this restaurant can easily improve.
1) If the restaurant is going to be come an eco-warrior - no problem. If there are not going to be straws available at the restaurant, please provide clean drinkware without some previous diner's lipstick on it. Also, the pencil thin glassware filled with ice far past the brim is simply impossible to drink from directly.
2) The crust on the pizza and the calzone needs a completely new recipe. The current recipe is totally devoid of flavour; the top is mushy and the bottom is rock hard.
3) The sauce on the pizza is just plain unadulterated canned Marzano or other tomatoes. The flavour is diluted and tinny, and lends to the "mush" on the top of the pizza, which is clearly made without thought or care as is evident from its shocking unevenness of toppings. A better solution would be to reduce the tomatoes to a sauce and add something to enliven the flavour of the sauce, which currently tastes more watery than water.
4) The Breakfast Calzone is supposed to contain sausage....but fresh sausage rather than "week old funky" would be much better. Also, rock-hard boiled egg inside is unflattering to the dish. Also, don't use "rehydrated mushrooms stored in water". The flavour becomes terribly diluted to the point that small chunks of wood would have been more flavourful. Also - the small pieces of potato inside the Calzone need to be actually cooked and sliced thin if you are going to use them. On second thought - this breakfast calzone is a terrible idea with exceedingly poor execution.
5) This restaurant would definitely benefit from a consulting executive chef to completely revamp the menu, which is largely inaccessible for a light and enjoyable lunch. Low attendance speaks do this.
6) Servers: please don't count and divvy your tips at the bar while ignoring the clients who would like attendance. It conveys poorly.
7) Experienced Management.

Not impressed. Food was lackluster. Pasta undercooked. Sauce and meatballs were bland. Service was horrible. Where did my waitress go? Won't be returning. Won't be recommending.
You should have cocktails on happy hour. Gin and tonic $14!
Food was great and the service was outstanding
We had a lovely NYE dinner with items from both the special NYE menu and the regular menu. The soup of the day was a bit too salty to our liking. However, it is expected as both of us prefer our food pretty much unsalted. The mains were wonderfully done and offered a delicate balance of enough sides and sauce to the main protein (chicken and braised beef rib) portions, while not overwhelming in total amount. The in-house made pasta was flexible, served nearly el-dante, and finished cooking on the plate in the sauce (as should be and is often not the case in Calgary Italian restaurants' scene). The gnocchi were fluffy, but firm in shape, and offered delicate taste. Desserts were good for the most part, but were not the height of the meal. Our semifreddo was served too 'freddo' (i.e. too frozen) and we had to wait with it for about 5 or so minutes. The tiramisu was perfect in size but had too much dough to custard ratio. The main issue with both dishes was that they were too sweet to our liking. Blame it on our European origin vs. the overtly sweet-tooth North-American preference, or don't, the bottom line is the dessert was good, but not outstanding.
We look forward to our return to Buffo to sample dishes from other sections of the menu we couldn't try this time around.

Food was good, water was $7, and we were not warned. Service was polite if a bit rushed at times.
This was the second time I had been here and it was outstanding. I was celebrating my birthday and we were in the small room which very nice and intimate. My son who is a chef complimented how fresh the food was, he really enjoyed. He said he would come back. I certainly would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Food was good overall. Portions of some of the appetizers were small. Been here a few times and I’ll keep coming back!
I would recommend the food but if I ever have the same server I would ask to be moved. He was inept at almost everything. We had to call him over for everything and more than once because he would forget. The table beside us was equally frustrated. I think he needs some training.
Place about half full for 1 hour before 8pm close on Sunday. Service was attentive and prompt. Appetizers - olives and bread were good to very good. Pasta and chicken Parmesan we had were good but not great. Best thing was no dishes to clean. For place that claims fresh pasta daily this was not good enough

Celebrating our birthdays, the food was great; surprised we didn’t get a complimentary dessert for our birthday.
We enjoy Buffo, and this visit did not disappoint. The special pasta on offer was terrific, and the refreshed menu is good- keeping some of the previous dishes and incorporating some new. We find the ambiance a welcome break from 'the mall'. It feels like a nice adult space-- even though it is family friendly, the restaurant doesn't have a frenetic kid zone feel.
It was our golf ladies get together before Christmas. We were all very impressed with the food, service and accommodations. The staff were excellent and big compliments to the chefs because they did an outstanding job. We will definitely come back and I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. I have a birthday in December and I requested to my husband this is where he can bring me for my birthday.
