Cafe Malta has become our new favorite place! You feel like you're in the neighborhood restaurant somewhere in the south of France, or Morocco - or maybe Malta, haha, which is between the two (but we've never been to the actual Malta). Excellent food, ambience, very personable, knowledgeable wait staff - perfect.

Although we’ve been to Café Malta before, this meal was complete disappointment and barely edible. Two of us had the daily special of carbonara, and one of us had a dish of beef, ravioli, none of which we liked. We all left most of our meal on the table. The waiter decided to take our main courses off our bill, which was a very nice gesture. We won’t be returning, unfortunately after the experience

This hidden gem in South Austin has become one of our favorites. Don't be fooled by its unprepossessing location in a strip mall on William Cannon -- the food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. Try the crostini, the brisket ravioli, and the lavender creme brulee; they're especially good. Our only disappointment during our most recent visit was the oversalted gnocchi bleu -- we've ordered this before and loved it, so it was likely just a one-time flub.

Wonderful ambiance… much like French Roast in Manhattan. Great and diverse menu, excellent service… we enjoyed ourselves, the food, and the waiter so very much. We will definitely come again. What a find!

We come here for special occasions and whenever we want a great dinner out. The food, the service, the atmosphere are all perfect. And guess what! The background music is at a comfortable level and you can talk without yelling. Interesting bar drinks as well.

The ambiance was charming-a cool date night, European cafe vibe. Took almost 30 minutes to get a glass of wine I ordered. When I asked about it, the waiter said, “They probably have to go find a new bottle to open.” Okay. I was halfway through my meal before it arrived. Also, the waiter casually dropping f-bombs was not on my bingo card for the evening. Food was fine, not spectacular. Probably wouldn’t go back because I didn’t have enjoy the overall experience.

The place is small so it was loud. The service was ok. He was nice but an appetizer never got ordered and refills were forgotten. The concept is good but not exactly pulled off. My friends ragu was salty and my dish needed some salt and pepper. Her pasta was spot on however if the sauce had been less salty it would have been a great dish. I believe all restaurants have off nights and I will be trying it again

Cafe Malta was a real treat. I highly recommend it for the unique spin on traditional Italian favorites. The BBQ ravioli wasn't quite what I expected, but Maltagliati was EXCEPTIONAL! We also really enjoyed the cheese board with house-made preserves. The food and dining experience is upscale while still being casual. It's intimate, so I started getting lively and loud at is filled up. Great date spot, so my husband and I will be back.

What a cute place and the food and menu were fantastic. Most delicious salmon I’ve ever been served in my absolutely creative, wonderful salad. Best of all, we had a waitress who didn’t hover, was great at helping us with what we should order, and all in all, made us feel like we were having lunch at a friend’s house. Great experience!

I’m not sure if they were short staffed or not, but this was not a good experience. I came here over a year ago and loved every moment. This unfortunately left me questioning if I’ll return. It took quite a long time to get drink orders and food orders. Both meals were dry, overcooked, and the plating didn’t look appetizing at all. I won’t go on, but truly a disappointing dining experience all around.

I haven't been to Cafe Malta in years but was in the neighborhood and remembered how much I used to love it, so we popped in for dinner. We had a very enjoyable evening, my boyfriend and I chose to sit at the bar. Ordered Apeorl spritz, White wine, Ceviche, Texas peach salad, Catalan chicken, Brisket ravioli and the Maltagliati. The food was just as tasty as I remember it. The Texas peach salad was so amazing I have plans to try and recreate it at home this week. Honestly, everything was great from the food to the service. The only constructive feedback we really had was the Ceviche wasn't really our style. I'd like to see it soaking in lime juice instead of dry on the plate. It was also very warm and loud inside. A few acoustical items hung on the wall might help with some of that. Overall a really pleasant evening, we will be back!
