Was amazing! The only thing to complain about is the squid fries - a little tough and chewy but everything else was amazing! Loved all the cocktails
Creative menu for both food and drinks. Excellent service in a very comfortable setting. Really enjoyed our visit.
Great drinks. Korean influence on the menu was interesting for the palette. Wonderful service from Katy our waitress. Highly recommend for a night out.
all good. tk u
Love the decor and ambiance, however all the hard surfaces make it everything SO LOUD. You can hear people talking from 3 tables away. When it’s full, you have to lean forward and shout to the person in front of you.
Food and service are good - not mind blowing but pretty good. We would try to avoid crowded evenings so we can enjoy without having to shout to each other.
Their original cocktails are tasty but not booze-forward at all. I hate using the term “girly drinks” because I’m a woman. But that’s the world that comes to mind, and $18 is not worth it as you can barely taste the main alcohol listed. But the classics, like Negroni and Manhattan, come out much better.
Excellent dining experience and great bar to hang at while waiting to be seated
We had dinner at Cafe Salmagundi on Saturday nite. We were catching up with an old friend. The Atmosphere was pleasant, warm and not too crowded. We had a glass of wine while we waited. I only drink dry, white wines and the recommendation of the waiter was very nice. For dinner we chose to of the suggested sharing dishes. We shared the steak and the pork belly. The steak was tender and the pork belly just melted in the mouth. Both were excellent. We also shared some side dishes. We had the shishito and Brussel spouts. The Shishito peppers were really lovely, and were served over some green beans which were done to perfection. The server was attentive made great suggestions for our dinner. The only thing that could have been better was the noise level. The background music was a bit too loud to allow for quiet conversation. But everything else was so good, I'll definately go back.
Great atmosphere with perfect lighting, good buzz/music and outstanding service. Unfortunately, the food isn't very good. Every dish we ate had so much added sugar in it. Everything was sweet including the Branzino and chicken wings. It's too bad because they have everything else down, especially the professional and attentive staff.
absolutely enjoyable and professional and knowledgeable staff!
Food it very tasty and the waiters / bartenders are great.
I had been wanted to try Cafe Salmagundi for some time, and was finally able to visit now that they're open on Mondays. I had a wonderful meal. The frisee salad with Korean pears was sweet and delicious. The branzino was light but very flavorful. And the oyster pancake was delectable. I finished with two different gelatos, and both were excellent. My server Katie was awesome. So friendly and knowledgeable - she made my experience perfect!
Great all around! The food could use a bit of tweaking but overall it was delicious and service was great. Cocktails are a must.
The service is rather poor. The servers are not well versed on the menu and overall service quality was not as expected.
Food was delish, ambiance was great, kind staff, and outstanding imaginative cocktails!
For indoor dining, the music was much too loud for conversation, but later it was turned down. Probably hard to balance the bar + restaurant atmosphere. Excellent menu, flavours, preparation. Highly recommend (but would ask to sit outside next time)
Sitting next to a dumpster was unfortunate.
Amazing as always!
Excellent food. Loved the calamari and shrimp apps. Pork belly and short rib mains were exceptional! Drinks very good, but not great. Outdoor dining area was beautiful and very well kept. Friendly waitstaff. A bit annoyed that they charged extra when asking for a little more bread to dip in shrimp app ($3) and for some seltzer to add to an expensive drink ($5). Penny wise, pound foolish. Doesn't make customer feel good. Overall, we would definitely go back but hope management corrects the easy stuff above.
Great food, good service, nice location and atmosphere.
Several brunch orders were forgotten and guests had to wait to eat until others see nearly finished their meal Another forgotten item, a side dish to an entree, was brought out after the meal was over. Delay in taking order for food after our server had to go but orange juice and the juice appeared to be mixed with some fresh orange juice to get enough for our guests. Recovery was 3 free sorbets to be shared among 6 guests. Food was excellent when it finally came…
Great location and ambiance, very lovely and safe outdoor dining. Service staff was nice, but could have checked in on us a bit. And they didn’t have the duck confit, which was disappointing, but the grilled chicken was nice. And French fries came out cold., second time was a charm.
Had a great time. The food and drinks were excellent. While it wasn't busy, the service was a little inconsistent, but overall it was great. Looking forward to going back.
Cool place, interesting food, prompt service if the server takes care of you. If you sit at the bar, avoid the cranky bartender with a hat and flower shirt. This dude brings a biased clubby vibe to the bar. He takes care of his friends first and treats them well with shots and all.
The food wasn’t too great- the jamon egg open sandwich dish wasn’t as fresh. The Jamon we had here was pretty stale and quite honestly, one of the least favorite ones we’ve had, ever!
We also had croque monsieur which was ok, but not too great - it was pretty mundane :(
Other than that the service was great, the waiters friendly, and great tables.
Short ribs were delicious but was not enough for two people as menu suggest.
very good service, very nice outdoor seating, would definitely try again and recommend
This is the 4th time I ate at Café Salmagundi.
Consistent quality and friendly service. Such a neighborhood gem!
Despite many outdoor seats remaining open throughout the night, we were told there were none available and were seated indoors near the back. Any tables closer to the front were similarly "reserved", though went empty all evening. We were then nearly neglected, having to flag a disinterested server every 30 mins from everything to placing an order to requesting a water refill. It was a real disappointment.
Cocktails were GREAT but pricey. $17 each is more than I like to spend even for a great cocktail. Service was very good. Plenty of outdoor seating. Good for a date.
Fantastic evening dining outdoors and great with the live street band dropping by. Service was good but definitely slower and at times hard to get additional drink rounds in as the tables filled up. Definitely go back! Food was divine.
I was really excited to try this place, specially because it is related to another Korean restaurant that I am a fan of. Visited for brunch , and this are my things to improve : my drink had fresh mint as garnish to make a mojito. It was difficult to drink unless I have a straw which I didn’t. We got to only ordered one drink during the whole time because it took long to order and getting food or drinks. We were a group so off course everyone ordered a different thing. The Burrata was ok but the bread got soggy because it was under it and had tomatoes too. It was a hard dish to share. We ordered the fried chicken and waffles and according to the restaurant is TO SHARE, the piece of chicken was small even for one person and the waffles were really dried. I ordered the Jamon Serrano, the ham was great. But that was all, the eggs were I think steamed like cafeteria food. Same thing with the toast that comes with it, the water from the eggs messed the bread.
I will though recommend the Croque Monsieur. From all the dishes on the table it was the most and well presentable and flavors were there. Hope they can improve for the best.
The staff was friendly and personal. The drinks came like in no time (prob pre-made, good taste tho). For some reason, they are using the 3oz-wine standard per glass, for a such casual place, and the limited selections of wine, I personally feel strongly that it’s misplaced.
Overall the food was “American Tasted”, very heavy handed, left only the texture not the original taste of most ingredients.
Again, super friendly staff.
My second visit to Cafe Salmagundi- the food is really terrific and the presentation is very creative. The front of house is always very lovely and personable. The one downside is the timing of the bar - drinks were great, but always takes forever. Overall a great place in the Union Square/ Flatiron and happy to have them in the neighborhood
We sat outside on the 17th Street side. There were enough flies to
make it annoying. There was also a lot of traffic on 17th Street which detracted from the ambiance. We didn’t have these issues a few weeks earlier in May.
Food and service are great. I might try sitting outside on the Irving side next time to see if it’s better.
Everything was nice except for the noise level which was very high inside the restaurant and made conversation somewhat awkward
My date and I had a fantastic time at Café Salmagundi from appetizers to dinner, including drinks. This is a sexy place with a cool charming vibe. The food is very creative and delicious. So were the cocktails! Our server was awesome, very friendly prompt and super knowledgeable about the menu. We are definitely heading back to this great place.
What a great new(ish) addition! Easy, casual, energetic--and the cauliflower with kale is a gorgeous plate.
Loved everything about it. The freshness, unique choices were exceptional
Saturday brunch date with my son! We were given a 4-top table under the outdoor tent instead of a tiny round table for 2 against the wall. I suspect it’s because we had a reservation, booked through Open Table and got special treatment. (We have dined here a few times previously, also booked through Open Table.). I ordered the Salmagundi Salad, and was happy that I added the extra duck confit which made the dish more substantial and delicious. My son ordered the Hanger Steak and Egg which he thoroughly enjoyed. A shared side of roasted Brussels sprouts completed the meal. The service was friendly and efficient. All in all, a good dining experience!
First dinner out in a long time and it didn't disappoint. Flavors were intense. The Salmagundi salad with duck confit was amazing. The striped bass was so flavorful. We would eat these dishes again. And the drinks are a must!
