Our first restaurant visit since prior to COVID. So pleased and happy we choose your restaurant. Great staff and service interacted with us made our visit 100% plus. Alex and Barry where a pleasure to talk to and feel so welcomed by their interaction. Awesome food and can’t ask for better ambience. Thank you all! We’ll be back and our new fav hot spot for us!
Bev & Jim!
The food and drinks were great!! It was quite windy on the patio, but it was our choice to sit there.
Our server was excellent, truly excellent.
We only had the tacos and chips and guac and they were all delicious. The house margaritas were super yummy. Will be trying more flavours next time. The patio faces west so lots of sun to enjoy the cocktails. I'll definitely be back.
Worst experience!!! The best thing about this dinner was my Uber ride their!! They seated us and basically forgot about our table. Stopped receiving drinks after my 1st one and not to mention I had to hunt down our waiter just to pay the damn tab which I never found him till I was done paying since fiancé and I decided it was enough waiting with no more service after our our first couple plates (appetizers and tacos) Turns out waiter was on the dance floor dancing the whole time…no wonder we were treated invisible. We literally walked around looking for someone to tell them we had to go and needed to pay. Taco Bell has more authentic tacos than this place. Save you money, zero flavor on the tacos but about 1 or 2 that tasted ok at best. Your best bet is el centro (downtown) for AUTHENTIC tacos. Oh and not to mention they didn’t even have our reservation I made through opentable and PLEASE check your bill for items that you didn’t order…to top it off I had to cross off items I never ordered that I was being charged for. IMO first and last time I’ll dine here even it was free and definitely not worth the value at all. The only thing I regret about this vacation was coming here for dinner. I need to make this night up to my fiancé!!!
Sat for 20 minutes and wasn't even acknowledged by a server. Ended up just leaving
Really disappointed. Loved the ambiance when I walked in, and was very excited to have a great Mexican destination in the south. The service started okay, but progressively got worse. Waited a really long time for things like drinks (but they weren't waiting at the bar so I assume she forgot to ring in more than once), waited to place orders, waited for the water (which she offered in the first place), and waited a long time for the bill. We also watched a couple come in while we were there and wait 20 minutes without getting any service so they left. The food was marginal. The tortillas in the tacos tasted greasy, and while the food was somewhat flavourful, it was all just not "right". The corn chips were also extremely greasy, and the queso dip literally tasted like cheeze whiz. The drinks were also marginal. It's tough when it's being compared to Anejo and Blanco, but Calavera did not come close. I'm glad it was all day happy hour or it would have felt like a waste.
The Taco's were very filling, and the service was excellent, would recommend this Restaurant. We'll be returning to try other items on the Menu.
Good, food good, not amazing but good!
Food is not great
Disappointing. Service was slow and food choices limited. Very “try hard” Mexican experience.
If you’re going to go for tacos and margaritas, they do have a good happy hour special but the quality does not compare to Anejo or Blanco.
This restaurant was awesome! It was my first time going and I enjoyed it. The ambience was great, lots of cool lights and decor. I went with a girlfriend and we started with the guacamole and a shot of casamigos reposado. It was very tasty. At 9pm, we had the happy hour margaritas and tacos. The margaritas were amazing!! The tacos were so flavourful and the perfect size! We will definitely be back!!
Delicious food and drinks, but very noisy. Though it was also very busy and the first Friday back to indoor dining!
Great place - food, drinks, service and ambience were terrific! Worth checking out
Service was outstanding!. Our Waitress was top notch!. Great food and great ambience!
Service was great. Menu is a little confusing. Good value
Everything was super yummy!!
Drinks were delicious. Food was decent but not the best Mexican in town. Great patio. Service was slow but to be fair, restaurants just opened up the day before so it is understandable.
Fun new taco place! Will go again for sure.
It was Tuesday all day Happy Hour...which was fantastic.
Tacos were delicious.
Great to have a Mexican restaurant in the south that makes great guacamole, pico de Gallo, tacos and margaritas.
Food was well prepared and lots of flavor. Great service
Love this new place. Great atmosphere on the patio, friendly servers and the food is great. Only downside is no amendments will be made to the foods at all. I asked if possible to make a shrimp or fish burrito and was told that it’s not possible despite using the same ingredients in the tacos. Nether the less this was the only downside, otherwise I will be back as soon as dining opens again
Meat was flavourless, tortillas were good and the toppings were good but they need to work on the flavour of the meat.
All had flavourless meat
The Shrimp taco was yummy
The Birria taco had good flavour to the meat.
Great food. Great patio. Super service. Will definitely be back when restrictions ease up!
My reservations was cancelled on the patio reservations May 4 that I booked a week ago for my daughter’s birthday. It’s started to rain so I understand it getting canceled. I then decided to order thru skip the dishes. After ordering and getting charged for it, your restaurant canceled our order completely. We were so disappointed. I called but no one even replied. What a disappointment experience.
Service wasn't great considering it's only the patio open I figured it would be easier to check on your tables more often. Food was a little lack lustre. Drinks were alright. I'd probably come back since it's so close to my house but it wasn't an amazing experience overall.
Great cocktails, authentic Mexican street food, loved it!
Went for happy hour and it was fantastic. Drinks and tacos were all amazing. We'll definitely be back.
Food was amazing. Friendly and fast service. We sat on the patio due to the recent restrictions. It was clean, open and inviting.
Will definitely be back.
Great food, service and atmosphere! Definitely going back 😁
For a delightful departure from pub grub and noisy patio dining, look no further the Calavera Cantina. Great menu choices, tastefully presented and delivered piping hot by friendly staff make this a wonderful choice for meeting friends after work or treating the family to a new experience. Some tasty drinks too!
Love this little restaurant! So happy to have a nice patio with fun food in the south. Have been twice and had the same waitress, Marie. She's fantastic and a lot of fun, helpful with descriptions and suggestions.
Another amazing meal and great service!! Can't wait to go back
Disappointed! They are missing a lot! Taste? Service? Attitude? Wont rush back!
Amazing food and super friendly, welcoming, and professional staff. We quite enjoyed our dinner date at Calavera Cantina! Thank you!
Exceeded expectations. Will return. Drinks and food and service were remarkable
-Food was cold
-small portions for the price
-would not recommend
A great new Mexican restaurant in the South. Highly recommend
Food was good, salsa was our favorite! As for drinks, the margaritas were mediocre and non alcoholic beverages did not have much flavour. When we brought this to our servers attention, she took the full drink away and still charged us for it. When asked why, she said they don’t take things off the bill based on preference. It was not preference, it had no taste, very watered down. Disappointed that our experience ended that way.
