We came here to dine for our 50th anniversary. We brought our son and his wife, also. We have dined here before, and I have always thought the food was outstanding. We made our dinner choices and asked our server if he would split our portions as my husband and I, and my son and his wife were sharing their dishes. He said that there would be a $2.00 upcharge. No problem. Our food was served. And everything was delicious. The server asked afterwards, if we wanted anything for dessert. My daughter-in-law wondered whether our anniversary would’ve been acknowledged. He said yes, and that we were able to choose. After, we were presented the bill, with the dessert comped, my husband was confused as to why we were charged two entrées per order. There was a small portion that was subtracted from the bill but the entire bill was more than $80 greater than it should have been. Later, after the manager approved the discrepancy, we were presented with the bill that now included the anniversary dessert! Anyway, we were satisfied that they corrected the bill, and it was now accurate but the anniversary complementary dessert was added back to the bill!!!! we decided that we were not going to care about that. We had a lovely dinner. The restaurant is delicious. The setting is gorgeous.

We had a wonderful meal. We did the chefs tasting menu with a nice mix of flavors from the ahi appetizer to the guava granita panna cotta. With our favorites being the teriyaki steak and the salmon. There was a beautiful view and sunset. The staff were kind and friendly. Also their mai.tais were top notch. It was the best meal we had on the big island. Also the concierge desk was helpful when we were struggling to get an Uber back to our hotel.

Wonderful service. They staff was super friendly and attentive. They definitely provided 5 star service. The food was bougie and the price reflects that. I highly recommend booking close to sunset to get the picture perfect back drop.

We fined on our last night of our trip to Hawaii. It was our first time to the Canoe house. The food , service and ambiance was first class. This will now be a regular restaurant to eat while on our big Island visits

Beautiful view and wonderful service. We enjoyed talking with Billy and Dion they made our 36th anniversary very special. The best Mai Tai we have had on the Big Island. The food was both lovely and delicious.

Incredible food with even more incredible ambiance and setting. We tried the tasting menu and were not disappointed. The drink menu is superb and despite the posh setting, it is also quite a family friendly restaurant, which we were so pleased to see! Will gladly go back time and time again!

The food was amazing. We enjoyed the tasting menu. We were celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary. Was a bit disappointed since that was not acknowledged. Our server didn’t seem interested in helping with food or drink items. Was pretty strange. Seemed like she didn’t want to be there. So that put a bit of a damper on the evening but we tried to make the most out of our wedding celebration. But the view and food was amazing.

This is fine dining. We are apparently not fine dining people. The portions were small. The taste really want that great. The service was what you would expect from a high end restaurant. The ambiance on the beach was fine but not better than other beach side options on the island. Overall, we were unimpressed. It might be fine for some. It wasn’t for us.

Amazing! Excellent service, Ayesha was the best. Asked about allergies for our group upon arrival. Cocktails well done. Apps for table wonderful….. order bread, lobster and the corn 😋. We couldn’t decide amongst the 8 of us which app or main was the best. Too full for dessert. Not to mention the amazing sunset and ocean breezes!

Aloha guys. We send 100’s of people to you monthly, and for the past few months we’ve started to get some negative feedback from our guests. This is the first time that we started hearing complaints on food and service over the past 3-4 years, so I had to go and see for myself. My experience was good, not great like it has been in the past, not the Canoe House that we can say hands down the best restaurant that we have here on island. More along the lines of second tier restaurants with first tier pricing. Let’s go Canoe House, time to step up!

Our experience began with an unexpected 25 minute wait for our table. We booked the 7:45pm seating and arrived about 7:35pm. The restaurant is hard to find if you’re arriving from outside the resort- it is at the back of resort and not well signed. We tried to check in at the main hotel restaurant and almost got seated there but finally the host realized the error. Head to left of canoe! We checked in after a 10 minute wait in a crowded lobby and were told we’d be texted when our table was ready- puzzled at being treated like Cheesecake Factory we stood and watched the slow process for seating guest. We were finally seated about 8:05pm! No place to sit, not well managed. Table was fine but no view. Our waiter was great once we were able to ask questions. Menu unusual. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. But very expensive. The wine is also outrageously priced. We shared two appetizers- gyoza and lobster tempura- both delicious. I had kampachi - yellow tail - grilled perfectly and a whole fish deboned, crisp skin. My brother got the chicken - looked delicious. My husband got head on shrimp also delicious. Two sides- garlic fried rice and tomato eggplant- both great. The tomato eggplant dish is a salad and cold - unusual but good. 3 glasses of wine. A lovely dinner marred by the beginning and the outrageously high price points. A pretty place and romantic but there must be better choices for overall enjoyment.

I had the lobster tempura….which was amazing!! The garlic rice is a MUST and should be shared. The service was excellent. All restaurants on the Big Island are expensive…….the CanoeHouse is not any different.

Our waitress was overwhelmed but Dionee who was helping was stellar. We were wondering why Dionne was not serving and our waitress helping out. The venue is soooo wonderful. The menu is fun. The Kampachi poke style, corn ribs, mushrooms were some of our favorites. We rent a home on beach 69 and used to go to Four Seasons. Canoe house is our new favorite and we visited 3 times this trip. Thank you

While the location is beautiful the experience was less than what I expected. The service was moderate at best and the food way below par. Two of the people in our party of 5 didn't receive their main course until way after the first 3 did. The local fish that I ordered was over cooked, dry and hard. Nothing we ordered was really to the level it should have been and when the server noticed 2 orders had not been put in she tried to make up for it and get it out but at that point it was just to late. They didn't even offer anything to compensate for this.
