The food is good authentic Italian. The restaurant is busy and under-staffed, so the service is slow. Being in the open atrium of Cribbs Causeway Mall it is noisy, but there is lots to see. We like Carluccio's, but sadly the other local restaurants: Bristol City, Cheltenham and Gloucester have all closed.

Tasty food, will eat there again. Although some of the seats covers are torn through & need recovering or renewal. It was busy and seemed short on staff, consequently the waiters didn’t seem to know what they were quite doing & the orders got a bit mixed between tables. We would have appreciated a smile from our waiter.

They told us at the outset they were short staffed and it did show. The staff were polite and friendly, but ordering took a long time, our mains arrived before our drinks and starters, and the couple at the table next to us were missing a main meal, and had to point it out again when they cleared the delivered and eaten main away. I get that happens sometimes, but I had a spinach and ricotta ravioli that tasted like a supermarket fresh pasta dish, pasta far too thick and woefully under seasoned. I haven’t been here for a while, and although the staffing issue was clearly a one off, and they were very friendly, if sparse, the poor food was the main issue.

The incorrect order was served and was cold on arrival. The coffee was poorly made and lacked taste. When paying, the combo deal wasn’t applied until we pointed it out. Food was tasty however.

Not the greatest experience here unfortunately. Went here for breakfast for the first time as dinner is always amazing. First they didn’t have the juices I wanted so server had to come back a third time and I asked for an Earl Grey tea. I was served Yorkshire Tea which was one of the worst tasting teas I’ve had. Partners food then came with some blue tissue attached to his sausage so wasn’t a pleasure dining here unfortunately.

We were not offered set menu and had to ask for it Rim of 1 glass damaged leaving very sharp edge and used to serve my lemonade Starter toast was cold and chewy and onion marmalade tasted stale and looked reused Panna cotta was very heavy and lacking in sweetness...sure there was no sugar in it at all...not enough raspberries or coulis on plate to sweeten it up so was very unpleasant. Expensive price for poor quality food which showed that no love or care had gone into its preparation or service Waitress was great but sadly will not return nor recommend to others

We used to love going to carluccios - but it has really gone down in our estimation and we won’t be going again. The starters were forgotten, so didn’t arrive. The mains arrived but didn’t 2 out of 3 were stone cold. The staff apologised and were nice, but it was all a bit rubbish! The food was taken away and came back hot, but we all ate separately. They took 10% off the bill. I think that they should have removed the cost of the food that was served cold. Anyway - I’m not one to write a review, but thought this might be helpful to others considering options at Cribbs Causeway.

The main reason why I go to Carluccio's is that they serve gluten free pasta. They had no gf pasta. Pretty poor when you can buy good gf pasta from any supermarket. The waiter was lovely and very apologetic but we ate elsewhere.

Despite significant gaps on the menu (no sea bass, lasagna, GF pasta), what was on offer was good. The menu for the children was particularly good.

Despite the fact that it was a very busy day- and there were some very grumpy people queuing to dine- I booked and so could they have done- we had excellent food and service. The saltimbocca with chicken was simply delicious and having spent years living in Italy I am fussy, can’t fault it and we will be back. Thank you also to the staff for dealing so well with rude people - who should remember that they are lucky enough to have time off while others are working very hard

Having booked a table for breakfast at 10am, we waited for 15 minutes before any order was taken (but then the two waitresses didn’t arrive until 10.10). We were finally served our breakfast at 10.50 after asking twice what was happening. There were no apologies, and just a terrible attitude from one waitress who shrugged her shoulders and said ‘I don’t cook it so it’s not my fault’. The manager eventually came over, luckily just after my husband had found a black curly hair in his food. He took the food away and finally offered an apology with no charge for the food which we did appreciate but will definitely never return.

Despite the restaurant being very quiet, service was slow and our starter didn’t come out. It was really hard to get the staff’s attention. When we finally did, it took a long time for them to come to us The food was delicious though.

I booked Carluccio’s after looking at the menu on their website, only to find that my daughters choice wasn’t on the menu in the restaurant which surprised me…..I did say this, which the waitress didn’t actually believe me at first, but then she checked and agreed that my daughter could have her choice. She said that she had worked there 7 years and this was the first time she had come across this. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than our reservation which, given that the place was about 60% full was an issue. We were allowed to sit down, but couldn’t place our order until our reservation time which was a surprise. Anyway, we weren’t told about what was unavailable on arrival which delayed my choice, and then the food did take a long time to then be served….we didn’t have a starter, but waited far too long for only a carbonara and a burger. We ate an hour after arriving. When it did arrive, the food was tasty with good portions.

Unfortunately the food took the best part of an hour to arrive. We had to make an ice-skating booking, so this was quite stressful, especially with hungry kids. It was difficult to get any indication of when the food would arrive. In the end, we had to go to the kitchen to hurry it along. We ended up having to bolt it down - not a very enjoyable experience. We did appreciate the restaurant’s apology and realise it’s difficult with not enough staff. But definitely wouldn’t visit again.

Considering this was one of the major shopping days prior to Christmas, the service was quick - we were seated, chose drinks and bread, our main was not far behind, and we were given ample time to eat without feeling hurried at all. The food was delicious, I can’t fault a thing.

The cafe was obviously affected by shortage of staff. The waiting staff explained that they were short-staffed in the kitchen so the food might be delayed - which it was, but by less than expected, and the food was good when it arrived. Noise in the cafe was not a problem, but the announcements within the Mall were deafening and distorted.

We have eaten at the restaurant a few times over the past few years when visiting family in Bristol and always enjoyed the experience and thought we had had good value for money and a tasty meal. This time however we were extremely disappointed. Decor particularly seating etc was very tired looking and scruffy. Seating ripped in places. Definitely needs an overhaul to improve the ambience. We were handed a hand written list of about 8 items that were not available that serving from the menu. When the food came it was unimaginatively and basically presented compared to the standard at this restaurant chain a couple of years ago. Rosemary roast potatoes contained no visible rosemary. Tomato bruschetta lacked herbs and was very bland in taste, the bruschetta toast was a thin piece of soggy toasted bread. Tomato’s served in huge chunks. Overfacing and unappetising looking. Prawn marinara sauce contained no visible herbs. Main course chicken and avocado with crispy pancetta lardons was the worst I have ever eaten, the salad itself was mostly rocket , the chicken was cold and the pancetta lardons were cold, soft and fatty, don’t think they had been near a pan all day. Were told they didn’t serve draft peroni beer although menu stated it was available. All in all extremely disappointed this time, not good value and would not recommend. Sadly we will not be returning. I think Antonio would have been horrified!

I hope we were just unlucky, busy Christmas shopping Sunday visit , managers admitted the it was a very bad day and they should have closed due to I believe lack of kitchen staff 45 minute wait for a basic pasta , then the cabonara was totally indelible. Sent back twice , still wrong . Wrong bread order . Even the complimentary recovery bread order was stale! And who needs bread twice . Paid for wine only . Staff on floor obviously upagainst it as tables all around were complaining . And it's not cheap !

There was a long delay of over an hour before our food arrived. When it did finally arrive, the portion for the main was somewhat small and i returned it to the kitchen. the service was okay. the waitress was helpful but the delay was with the kitchen not the service. i have eaten at this restaurant on other occasions and the experience has been much better. i hope it was a temporary matter.

We waited over an hour for lunch to arrive from point of placing order. We noticed other customers were enquiring how long. Three of us order the seafood linguini- warning avoid as it was awful! No taste, concerned about partially opened mussels and the gluten free option was terrible (missing ingredients). When complained the member of staff was good however dinner had been ruined. Given many other choices to go and eat would not go back there.

A family of 12 get together .busy but was looked after well considering. Food was only mediocre, so disappointing. Some dishes portions were rather small for adults. Bruschetta which was a piece of bread with cut up tomatoes on top- tasteless. Best dishes of everything we had were one burger, one chocolate bread and butter pudding and the tirimasu. Won’t want to go again

Items not on menu. Took 1hr 40 mins to get main course served. Carbonara was basically a plate of spaghetti with 3 pieces of tough undercook bacon and hardly and sauce in the form of eggs the traditional way. This is the second time we left feeling underwhelmed The product is good however slow service with few staff, quality eroded is a shame

Booked for a nice lunch whilst Christmas shopping. Slow, understaffed, small portions for the price. No child’s menu offered on arrival, no staff to ask for one. Ended up ordering an adults portion costing an arm and a leg. Took over two hours for three people to have lunch. Total waste of time. Will not be returning.
