Carne Italian Chophouse
Located downtown near the SHED, Carne is the perfect place for high-end dinners or elegant cocktails before events at Bell MTS Place. Free parking is available in the adjacent parking structure for restaurant patrons.
Amazing steak and boar chop. Our server, Christal, was very attentive and friendly. Overall fabulous experience. Pricey but for the right reason, fabulous food!
The steaks were fine. But the scallops were bad. It was past it's" best before" date. It wasn't fresh at all. Maybe the cook thought it wouldn't be noticeable.
Steak was great! Service was awesome!
We will go again.
Fantastic food and service. Will definately go back!
Absolutely fantastic - best place for A5 Japanese Wagyu this side of Japan.
Was very delicious. We really enjoyed it. A higher price point - but definitely will come back again for special occasions.
Everything was excellent. Portions could be bigger/more for the price
We love this place! This was our second time eating in the dining room. The lounge area is great also. Tuna tartare appetizer was amazing.
Great dinner outing with friends. Only 2 issues: 1 . Washrooms are quite far away & 2. Some mussels did not open when cooked. Otherwise a great new find!
the food was amazinggggg 😩
great place to celebrate anniversaries
definitely worth the price
I wasn't sure what to expect. After looking at the menu online and seeing the variety of dishes and the prices, I was a bit skeptical that it could live up to my expectations. I would say that I was pleasantly surprised. Although it was quite expensive for a beef steak (around $50+) and I had the Osso Bucco (veal) which was around the same price, the beef steak was like butter. It was delicious and cooked well. The Osso Bucco, perhaps because it was veal that doesn't have a strong flavor, was a bit more bland. Although it was ok, I found it wasn't outstanding for the $56 price tag. Everything is a la carte so side dishes were extra but shareable. The service was excellent which always makes the experience. The bill was $500 for 4 of us so be prepared! But would be a nice treat for a special occasion.
Our second time at this restaurant. We had been impressed the first time, both with the service and the food. Wine list is heavy on Italian reds. But that's fine by us since we love Italian reds. Also a nice list of new world wines. Not many other old world wines - too bad.
Steak is quite good. Prepared to perfection (we had asked for medium rare and it came medium rare). But service, though nice and friendly, was unequal and haphazard. It took over an hour to get our meal. And there were only 3 tables that evening.
Jury's out if we'll go back or not. We'd go back for the quality of the food. But we'd make sure the restaurant is full before going in, thus ensuring the kitchen staff is operating at full steam.
Salad and desert were let downs.
Quality for money? OK. But at the prices we pay, we expect a little more. So not necessarily good value.
Nice setting. Food was good but overpriced. Wine was VERY overpriced. We received good service but there were only 3 tables seated while we were there so it was quiet. I would recommend a more reasonable wine list in terms of pricing options.
Menu is a la carte so everything is separate. However, our side of brussel sprouts was enough for two and very tasty.
Great service! The steak my husband and i had were deliecious!! And our waiter was super nice!
It was a horrible experience the food was rushed, we were rushed we asked for a certain booth and got there to find out we didn’t get it and this was New Year’s Eve!
New Years Eve
The calamari appetizer was great, very lightly seasoned & breaded. The steak & lamb entrees were outstanding, as well as the roasted potatoe side (the potatoes were also a very generous portion that could easily be shared amongst 2-3 people). The entree pastas were good. The pasta spaghetti side was bland (tasted like it was tossed in butter and nothing else). The Caesar Salads were not good, couldn't taste any garlic. The desserts were superb. The service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant did provide both a free dessert and discount on the bill for the less than stellar Ceasar Salads. Great cocktails were enjoyed in the lounge prior to dinner. It was our first visit and we would definitely go back.
Everything was good, craft cocktails were excellent, good service.
Only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is that New Years dinner took a little longer between courses than we were used too. The restaurant was very busy though & the food was worth waiting for.
Delicious food, and great staff
Called to see if reservation could be changed from 6 people to 8 and Carne was very accommodating! Our server was good. Food was excellent and the atmosphere is very nice. Great place to go with friends and have a casual meal with plenty of time to visit.
First time visiting Carne, and wow it was good. The steak was outstanding, and the service was perfect. We will definitely come back again.
Steaks are no different than any steak place in winnipeg just more expensive. Scallops were tiny but tasted nice with the sauce. Always checked on but it wasn't busy. Took at least 40 mins to get our main meal after appetisers. Wouldn't go back. Many other better options in winnipeg. Overall a little disappointed.
We like the atmosphere in Crane, quiet and cozy. Our server Crystal was very friendly, experienced and her service was a high-level. The food was awesome. The oysters were the freshest and best tasty I’ve ever had in Winnipeg. Steak was excellent. We enjoyed the meal very much.
We had a wonderful time with our friends. Food was outstanding best in Winnipeg. Exceeds 529
The food was excellent, and the service was mostly good, although it lagged at a few critical moments. Both of us end up doing with empty drinks for quite a while, waiting on our server, and after the meal we couldn't find anybody to deal with the coat check. After five minutes, I went behind the counter to grab our coats myself, at which point the bartender promptly came running out to help us.
It was still a very nice evening, and the food was excellent, but the service definitely could have been better.
Dining here was certainly a pleasant experience - my wife and I really enjoyed the food and service. Our server was Dale, who was knowledgeable, energetic, and clearly enjoyed his role. We had ordered the calamari, mussels, beet salad, gorgonzola gnocchi, and 16oz Brant Lake Wagyu bone-in ribeye. Dale made it clear to us from the start that this is a family style dining experience, and dishes were made to share including the mains. When we ordered, he broke our selections up into 3 courses. When dishes came out, they were warm and fresh. We were first served with freshly baked focaccia bread with an olive oil and vinegar mixture for dipping. Next were the calamari and mussels which were not anything special - good, but nothing special. We were then served the beet salad which was delicious! Thinly sliced beets topped with fresh greens, apricot, candied walnuts, granola, goat cheese, fresh dill, and a vinaigrette which worked so well together and was a good transition to the main course, the gnocchi and steak. The gnocchi portion seemed a bit small, about 15 1-inch pieces. They looked heavy, but were light and fluffy with a nice chewy texture. The flavour was excellent. The ribeye (medium-rare) was sliced into 1 cm strips, and topped with a bit of rosemary. We were given a mixture of sea salt, pepper and rosemary on the side. The flavour of the steak on its own was wonderful. It was perfectly cooked and the marbling throughout gave it a buttery flavour - a pinch of the salt mixture enhanced this.
My only negative comment would be that this seems like a place that can get really loud, so be cautious of that. We came for an earlier dinner, about 5:30.
Overall, this was a great dining experience and I would hope to have Dale as my server again the next time I visit!
The food was outstanding. Steak for me and seafood that my wife had were excellent.
Krystina is fantastic really appreciate our evening
Awesome The boat chop was divine.
The best steakhouse in Winnipeg.
Maybe the best overall restaurant in Winnipeg. The food the service the wine the atmosphere. Are all top notch. It is definitely worth checking out for yourself.
Excellent experience. Will definitely go back to this restaurant.
This restaurant has become a favorite. Excellent food every time. I have usually had the tenderloin which has been done to perfection. Brussel Sprouts are excellent!
The event that brought us here was my wife’s birthday. We had heard good things but were completely disappointed. They knew it was an event as I had $150 of flowers delivered for the table that day. They sat us at what would probably be the worst table in the building along the main hall with no wall...? It was loud, bothersome and cold, after reserving over a week ahead. The service was average yet very friendly. Sadly there was not much attention to the details my wife and I have enjoyed at other fine dining such as 529 and other WOW locations, or other fine dining in our travels. The food was average at best, no attention to details, the crab was served barely warm, waterlogged and chewy, the turnips were “woody and unedible” as per the birthday girl. THEN MY $99 serving of JAPANESE WAGYU BEEF THE BEST THEY HAD TO OFFER WAS SERVED AS THE PICTURE BELOW SHOWS... and yes I specifically commented on the poor presentation of our meal and was told “just try it”??? The meat was cool, almost cold, to be perfectly clear I had not tried that unique beef before and was very keen to enjoy it unfortunately it was off putting... maybe it’s supposed to be served cold?
DISAPPOINTING IS ABOUT ALL WE HAD TO SAY AFTER A BILL FOR THE 2 OF US TOTALLED OVER $400.00!
We are the type of folks that are quick to praise, and equally quick to air our poor experiences be it on a charter holiday, car rental or dinner out... This time we just had to say something as we just couldn’t get over our shock and disappointment with what was supposed to be a special evening.
Excellent food and service. Wide variety of menu options including local Manitoba pork from Neepawa that was exceptional. An experience that we hope to duplicate soon.
Dale was super attentive and looked after our party of 5 with great care. With two company presidents in attendance, I was delighted with the service we were given. We were not rushed, and felt that the service was impeccable.
We will definitely return, as this is an impressive venue with amazing food.
Great service and food.
Wonderful dining experience, great atmosphere with friends and outstanding food & service. Can’t wait to go back!
Wonderful evening. Great food!
