   Food was ok, nothing special. We had the Italian nachos, chicken caesar salad, parmesan potatoes and gnocchi pasta. Salad could have used some tomatoes or cucumber, gnocchi was swimming in sauce and parmesan potatoes were pretty much just crispy, dry skins. A one and done for me.

   Small menu but amazing food, great service, beautiful outdoor patio. The chicken parm and eggplant rollups are fantastic, and be sure to get the garlic bread appetizer with TO DIE FOR 5-cheese dip.

   Food was really bland. Portions were smaller than other restaurants but that seemed reasonable given how big portions have gotten. For some people the portions might not be enough. Ok food but not good enough to return quickly. Waitress was great, friendly & attentive. Not sure what the hype was about. Just OK restaurant.

   The good: Our server was great. The okay: Food was average for an Italian restaurant. Bread tasted like it was from a cafeteria. Entrees were okay but unremarkable. The bad: Overpriced for what it is, drinks especially. They tack on a 3% surcharge to the bill. So tacky. Just raise the menu prices rather than the extra fees.

   This was our first experience with Caruso’s Grocery in North Bethesda, and we were exceedingly happy with everything about it. We were there early on a Thursday, so crowds and noise were not a problem. There was a nice crowd- particularly outside, as it was a mild evening in May. Our servers were highly attentive (not overly) and helpful. They never rushed us and were intent on providing a good dining experience for us – and indeed, they did. The menu is a nice mix of traditional dishes and more contemporary offerings. It seemed limited compared to most Italian restaurants (for example, no lasagna, no risotto), but certainly sufficient. We enjoyed a tomato and basil caprese appetizer – all very fresh and well presented. The tricolore salad was different, a large serving, and delicious. Bread is on the house and oil and vinegar and spices are provided for dipping. Prices are at the top end, but not out of the ordinary for the area or the time. The wine pour seemed small for the price, but we didn’t feel that we needed more for the meal. We ordered from the traditional side – veal francaise and penne alla vodka – both well-seasoned and excellent. We were very full, but still able to fit in a piece of cheesecake that we shared (skipping the strawberry sauce). Our coffee drinker was not pleased with the “near cappuccino,” but it did not spoil the wonderful meal and evening. We will be back.

   The food was great! The service was awful. One of our diners asked for butter at least 10 times before receiving it. There did not appear to be an assigned server. Everything was a wait and an ask. Most things had to be requested at least 3 times. It was a special occasion for us that was utterly trashed by the horrendous lack of service. Would not recommend unless and until they can figure out how to provide service to a table.

    Terrible service. Had to ask for just about everything. Never came back to ask if we needed water. Our drinks just sat at the bar till my husband went to ask for it. By that time, we had received and consumed our appetizer. Our server completely disappeared after taking our order. Never came back and we never saw him anywhere. We had to keep asking different servers that walked by. Strange. I think he just went home and did not pass off his table to another server. Linguini and clams was swimming in liquid which had too much lemon juice. Another couple ordered shrimp on their pasta and it didn't come with any. We couldn't get the attention f any other server since ours disappeared, so they just ate it without the shrimp. When it came time for the check, the person we happened to stop looked at us funny when we told him that the pasta did not have the shrimp on it as ordered but by that time, they had eaten the dish. Will never come here again.

    disappointing. Fried calamari had way too much corn flour, very poor texture. And the antipasti platter looked like majority came from a jar off the grocery self. The olives had no taste at all. I was expecting more. But will try again for entrees. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things. So hoping I change my mind.

    Three of us went for lunch. The food was mediocre and the server was on another planet. They were very nice about splitting portions, however. The pasta was over sauced as was the Caesar salad. It was a bit loud and difficult to find. The GPS address was incorrect.

    Everything we ordered was very tasty but the Caesar salad, which was also over-dressed, was also very salty. The room was freezing cold. Not sure why the a/c was at full blast on a night with outside temperature in the mid 60s.

    We were seated at a “quiet” table as requested and were greeted right away. We were disappointed in the size of the wine pours for the cost. Appetizers and main courses very good. We were charged for a refill of decaf coffee which was surprising. The “kitchen staff tip” was removed from our bill when we mentioned it to our server.

    Caruso’s is a lovely Italian restaurant. The ricotta gnocchi was delicious and not too heavy. The service across the board from the hostess to the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely going to go back.

    This is a great place to go for "classic" Italian. They have great choices and we've never been disappointed. The portions are generous. This is the type of food which is best shared amongst the folks at the table, as everything is so good. "Hard to say which one is best!

    Very good simple Italian-American food, but the price point is very high (lunch with a salad and a pasta with tap water, no bread and no dessert was $50 with tip). Surprisingly noisy for outdoor seating and the servers were stretched very thin and there were quite a few glitches.

    Though the food was quite good, the experience of going to Caruso's Grocery was not. The ambiance was lacking--very little has changed since it was Owen's Ordinary; the menu was limited; and though the servers were friendly, they were not very professional.     Excellent service from everyone (check in, table server, table bussers, food delivery, and bar) and I couldn’t believe the amazing hot temperature my meal was served. Our entrees stayed right from the stove/oven hot for the entire time we were eating. Portions are quite large and can easily serve as lunch the next day. We enjoyed the chicken parm and penne alla vodka and both were delicious. The serving of chicken was wonderfully sized. The tomatoes in our capreze salad were out of this world fantastic.     We've been to Caruso's several times since it opened at Pike & Rose [including a private birthday party we hosted]. The food is excellent. It is a streamlined menu with something to appeal to most everyone's taste. Their calamari is the best! Everything is well prepared and served graciously. A neighborhood gem!
