Amazing meal as always at Casa Minhotta. The filet mignon on the stone was absolutely to die for - it remains my favorite meal out in Montreal. The house wine is excellent and the service is just right. A real treat!
Excellent fresh food in a family and friendly athmosphere
The price and the food its amazing.
I believe that the service need improved.
The food is incredibly tasty. Unfortunately the night we went, it was on Wednesday and there was a lack of service. Only one waiter and one boss boy for the whole restaurant. I will go back again because I really enjoyed the food and I hope that there will be more staff in the restaurant to increase the quality of service. Even if there were missing some staff, our waiter was very kind and sweet.
Like always!!! AMAZING
one of my fav restos
We have always enjoyed this place. Good value for money, lovely staff and good food.
Great Portuguese restaurant at the heart of Little Portugal! We enjoyed the food and the super service. We will get back soon!
High quality food and taste, great portuguese restaurant in the heard of Le Plateau.
Have been visiting this restaurant for the last 5 years and every visit is wonderful. Look forward to the next visit.
The meals is a bit salty, probably I eat very light.
We finally tried this place after passing bye so many times to go to the restaurant next door.(Popular steak house)
We were pleasantly surprised. The decor and size of the restaurant was unexpected. Much bigger than it looks from the street with multiple rooms and I almost felt I was in Portugal. They have great dinner buns and even better marinated olives, we feasted on till we ordered. I had the Minhota salad with so many seasonal ingredients and a great house dressing, we also had the house soup, it was a hearty vegetable soup with noodle, it was very good. We had the grilled calimari and the grilled chourico sausage appetizers, they were good also. I ordered the Mixed grill, there were at least 6 different meats, beef, chicken, quail, pork sausage another sausage i was told it was veal and lamb, a kebob and lamb chops ( I think I got them all) we also had the filet mignon on a hot stone which had 3 dipping sauces. Very generous portions...I should have asked for a more typical Portuguese dish to really get a taste of the cuisine. At least the appetizers and our desserts were more along the Portuguese taste. The pear in porto was good very nice( generous with the porto) the Portuguese egg tarts were very good as well.
Great food great service and ambiance 👍
Excellent, authentic Portuguese - very friendly staff
Was recommended by a colleague as good food and service . Unfortunately it was Disappointing as was a small resto which became quickly noisy a restaurant with three large groups .. so Conversation became impossible . Most items on menu not as expected .. sangria with kiwi ?, had a paella festival but with only one type of paella which had meat ? Seafood rice dish that was recommended was more of a soup .. but seafood itself was good . Was a special occasion ( bday ) but it was not acknowledged despite my request on the reservation and to one of the waiter . Service was not best , but understandable given the conditions . Will not recommend or return as many better resto in Mtl .
The place was very noisy and we could not hear each other.
And the cod was a bit salty but a wonderful service!
This was our second time to Casa Minhota is was delicious. Very authentic food, excellent service even though the restaurant was full seeing as it was Mothers Day.
Nice atmosphere, familial and lively without excessive noisiness. Good food and winelist
We had a relaxing evening sitting in their back dining room as a party of 9. Had the grilled seafood platter and seafood rice along with Portuguese chicken - all were very tasty. We had sides of mussels, snails, shrimp and shredded cod which were also very delicious. Good value. We would come back again! The owner/waiter provided excellent service and wonderful recommendations.
Food was very tasty and the waiters very professional. Had a nice evening with my friends.
The food was great except I would of appreciated a little more on my plate like potatoes, vegetables because the plate is big but the food on it isn't maybe you should review some of your menu.
Amazing food and amazing service during our first valentines super.
we Loved it there, the waiter’s were friendly and funny and the food was amazing.. absolutely delicious
Will defiantly go back
Warm welcome, authentic Portuguese cuisine - a family welcome place, lots of noisy kids but the great food and wonderful service made up for it. A true find - I will most definitely go back. The cod and spicy shrimps are a must have!
Lovely dinner !
Good but service slow
Service ultra-lent, serviette contenant le pain tachée, mouche qui se posait sur le pain, plat sans saveur, trop cuit etc..
We love seafood so we ordered a table d'hôte for 2 with sardine and moule as the entrée and the seafood with rice in the deep pot as the main dish. Everything was absolutely delicious and each dish had a good quantity. Huge plate of dessert. Nice ambience and the waiter was very friendly. It was the second visit for me and I will definitely go back there again.
The food is delicious, the servings are generous, the service is amazing, it was a great choice for a birthday celebration!
Seafood we had was great, house wine was good value, service was good.
fav restaurant prices are good and food is truly delicious ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing stafff awesome food! Good times we will definatly go back
Everything was amazing!!! The service was exceptional! I will definitely be back.
This was a return visit (two years ago the last). The food was as if 1970's English cooking with Portuguese ingrediants. Terribly overcooked and tasteless.
Judging from some of the other reviews the food must be completely inconsistent.
Service was mediocre.
A terrible waste of a night in Montreal with so, so many better options.
Le service est très bien (Quand on nous oublie pas), les plats sont très bien préparés mais ils sont trop cher, c'est bien dommage. C'était une occasion spéciale, un souvenir du Portugal, mais l'addition est venu un peu gâcher la fête.
I have been a fan of casa minhota for many years. Always displayed excellent food and service. This lunch was of much lower level of quality and presentation than usual. I have a sense of a change of ownership/management. Might return once but would not return unless quality is restored. I have lived in Portugal for many years and speak the language, so I know good Portuguese food. Sorry for this less than happy review.
We really enjoyed our supper. We brought our friends for an authentic Portuguese meal and they were not disappointed. The service was great and friendly. We will surely be back. Also sure that our friends will be back.
Very good service and very friendly. our waiter Joe gave us a terrific service
We love Casa Minhota and have been there many times. The food is excellent and so is the ambiance. However if there is one factor I think this restaurant needs to improve on it's time management. It always takes such a long time to get served the main course. The olives and bread and some appetizers come fairly quickly but the main dishes always seem like they are literally making from scratch. Hopefully you won't get the only non speaking portuguese waiter who in fact speaks spanish. Nothing wrong there except he insists on speaking spanish when spoken to in portuguese. Now spanish and portuguese are similar but different and besides, this is a portuguese restaurant. The waiter should otherwise just stick to French/English. My portuguese parents were a little annoyed.
We’ve been here before & will return because food, portions, value & service are all very good. On this night we were 6. The restaurant was very busy; we were there 3+ hrs. too slow. We had excellent Sangria. Bread refilled 2x. Nice black olives. Very good appetizers: soups, salads, mussels (huge ones), sautéed squid & escargot. Mains were Grouper, Halibut, Octopus, Filet & Shrimp, Rack of Lamb and Veal in Porto; with potatoes & vegetables. Again very good. Desserts were Egg Tarts, Pear in Porto and a very yummy house specialty. Extra dessert & specialty coffees were added for the slow-ness but 4 had full course so that was included anyhow. Not sure if it was the kitchen or wait staff that created the too slow pace. In any case we enjoyed our meal and we still will return because the restaurant is very good & reasonable. Definitely give it a try.
We had mussels and caldo verde to start, then moved to a wonderful cod fish, while vinho verde. Everything was so sensational that we stayed for an early dinner to have the cod fish again.
We also loved the waiters!!!
