Service was very slow and food forgettable.
This was disappointing. We very much wanted to like the place, but wound up cutting dinner short, throwing out the leftovers, and heading out to “finish dinner” elsewhere. The meatballs were okay, though heavy on the garlic. My wife felt the sauce was off and we both found the pasta to be over cooked and mushy. Sadly, I don’t think we will be returning any time soon.
Very disappointed with the quality of food. Calamari came out soggy, scallops were very gritty and pasta dish was very overpowered with garlic. We are not ones to voice complaints however with a restaurant that was supposed to be of a higher caliber this one fell far short and I was disappointed. This was supposed to be a birthday dinner for my husband and he was equally disappointed with the meal. We won’t be giving this restaurant another try unfortunately.
Great food, very friendly service both at bar and table, they like what they do and it shows. I had a family dinner there and the staff was terrific.
My husband and I had dinner here for the first time and we were not dissapointed from beginning to the end! Food was bomb! Service fantastic and our waiter Fred did an excellent job! Can't wait to go back!
Dinner with friends and we decided to try a place that was new to all of us. What a great surprise to find a truly good restaurant in Leesburg! Everyone enjoyed their meals - including appetizers. My scallop entree was fabulous and a beet salad both pretty and delicious.
I ordered a bottle of Chardonnay that they didn't have and they gave me an upgrade bottle since they didn't have that one, very nice. Nice Italian food, would recommend .
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend!
Too quiet, although new. Shrimp seemed to taste reheated and is scampi breaded? I found it odd that the server had a weird reaction that we ordered one appetizer and one dessert. The carbonara needed seasoning, tasted too plain, but the bread (which should be offered more of) with the olive spread was so tasty!
Slow service. Good food - but the in-restaurant menu doesn’t match the online menu.
Excellent food - very fresh, absolutely delishious. Make sure to save room for all courses - from appetizer to entree to dessert you don’t want to miss a thing! Very good service (with a little polish needed for some of the food runners but that will come with time). Can’t wait to return!!
Veal with mushroom and crab is exceptionally well done.
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was not worth the price. I had the chicken Parmesan and the chicken was very rubbery and chewy, huge portion though. The meal in general didn’t have much taste, I was disappointed overall.
Out of several wine list choices but graciously offered a bottle off menu for a good price. Fish special was bland but southern Italian-American favorites were very good.
Absolutely delicious meal. My husband and I shared the shrimp scampi appetizer - the shrimp was very fresh and the sauce perfect. My sister had a salad that was very good. I had the tagliatelle Bolognese. The pasta was homemade and the sauce very flavorful. My husband has a veal dish with sautéed crab on top served with tagliatelle and veggies. It was outstanding. My sister had the veal picata which was served with pasta and veggies. It too was delicious. The three of us shared a cannoli for dessert - very yummy. The house Cabernet and Malbec wines are wonderful. Service here is outstanding. I look forward to returning soon.
Casa Nostra is a work in progress and I wouldn't count it out yet. Went with another couple last weekend. Staff was simply outstanding! Hostess and wait staff couldn't be better. Prices were very fair. The bread was wonderful!! Not typical Italian but a heavy, doughy roll. Disappointing entrees. Veal piccata was a somewhat tough, skimpy portion and the pasta underneath was overdone. Sauce was a little bland. However, they're just getting started so we'll be sure to try them again. I think the will to run a really good restaurant is there; they just haven't found the way. We ate upstairs but were told that the music downstairs was a little loud.
Service was exceptional and the waiter was very friendly. Knowing it was a date night for us they set us in a location where we could talk and that was really nice. We also had a great view of the street, which was cool, too, since we wanted to walk around but it was so hot outside, so this made it nice. Food was authentic italian, and we enjoyed it - Salmon with spinach was superb, highly recommend.
An excellent dinner with visiting family. The visiting family were West Coast foodies with seriously discriminating tastes. We were not surprised that they were quickly lamenting the fact that they did not have an Italian restaurant of this quality close to their home. Carpaccio and Prosciutto & Melon appetizers, followed by Dover sole and mushroom encrusted halibut entrees were perfection. Closing out the dinner with one of Chef Walden's chocolate soufflés was exactly the right touch. Our relatives are still raving about the very elegant, but friendly and engaging service they experienced. Just a few months into their adventure, the Casa Nostra team is clearly outpacing their competition. Just excellent!!!
My wife and I joined David, Eric and the team for my wife’s birthday, and it was great! It seems that all of the “new restaurant” kinks have been ironed out. The veal and lasagna were impressive. The bread was fresh and soft and the wine selection was amazing. I gauge Italian restaurants based on their tiramisu and ambiance. I’ll be back again to enjoy both within the month. Great experience, friendly staff and fresh made authentic Italian. Very nice!
This was my wife's choice this year to celebrate her birthday, and it was the perfect choice. It goes without saying that everything that came of Chef Walden's kitchen was culinary perfection. Even the presumably routine selections, like my wife's veal picatta (now a new menu item), somehow rise to the level of extraordinary. For me, the Dover Sole was simply too wonderful to resist. There is simply no better place to celebrate something special than Casa Nostra. The very engaging service solution in engaging to the point that you simply feel like you are visiting and dining with family. Far more than a great dinner; essentially a very memorable culinary event.
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at Cosa Nostra. Everything was perfect. Eddie and David have us 1st class service. Everything from the fresh baked bread and condiments to the appetizers, wine, main dish, and dessert were extraordinary! This restaurant is incredible for romantic dinners and private events. I will be recommending it to friends, family, and clients in the months and years to come.
A great choice for a Father's Day Brunch! In addition to a number of classic, but extraordinarily executed variations on Eggs Benedict, a number of classic menu items was available as well. A seafood special, Halibut prepared with Shoyu Butter was available on this day, and it was incredible. Hard not to overeat here because every menu items seems to call to you. On the other hand, hard to imagine even the most discriminating diner leaving here less than amazed. On top of everything else, they somehow have the best bloody mary in Leesburg!
The jazz band tonight was amazing-E&Me. Food was excellent especially the goat cheeses salad. Best tiramisu I’ve ever had anywhere!
My husband and I went to Casa Nostra to celebrate our sixth Wedding Anniversary (NOTE: Typically, for a special occasion, we would not try a restaurant where we had not been). What a wonderful experience!! The atmosphere, service and food were superb. Our server, Eric, was very attentive. He told us the specials for the evening, in great detail, without reading from a pad of paper. He was also sensitive to our desire to have a relaxing evening. We chose and had our starter before choosing our main course.
Now for the food. For starters, I had the beet salad with goat cheese special and my husband had the arancini. The house pickled beets were excellent (wish I could get the recipe for the pickling!). They reminded me of pickled beets that my Grandmother made. The salad was a beautiful blend of Italian flavors and comfort food (at least for me). The arancini were delicious. The crunch outside combined with the saffron wild mushroom risotto was beautifully executed. The San Marzano Sauce was wonderful. We had to request additional bread (also delicious) so that the sauce did not go to waste! For our entrees, I had the crab cake special. It was an 8 ounce crab cake with just enough egg to bind it together. There was absolutely no filler, but pure crab meat. My husband always judges an Italian restaurant based on the Bolognese. His theory is that if they can’t make a decent Bolognese, then we’re not going back. Based on that, we WILL BE GOING BACK!!!! The Bolognese, like everything else we had, was delicious.
We had been to this location (under different management and Executive Chef) prior to it becoming Casa Nostra. Chef William Walden has brought this location back to life with his fine skills and execution of great and fresh Italian cuisine.
I only wish we had taken pictures to share. We always think of that after the fact!
The food was very good and the cost was reasonable. The place was not busy, probably due to summer starting, father's day coming and graduation week finishing up. They placed our group in a nice quiet corner so we could enjoy our conversation. The server was outstanding and knowledgeable. We loved the old building and the ambiance it gave. We certainly will return.
Each year, we put a lot of thought into selecting the restaurant where we want to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is usually a very well known venue and always involves some serious travel to get there. This year, the easy choice was Casa Nostra. We decided that, with Chef William Walden in the kitchen, it would be very wise to leave our menu selections to him. His first choice was to have us share one of his jumbo lump crab cakes. Having lived near Baltimore for nearly two decades before moving to Virginia, we have become "crab cake snobs", like pretty much everyone else around Baltimore, and for good reason. Over the years, I have only found one crab cake that I would choose over those available in the Baltimore area, and that would be any crab cake coming out of a Bill Walden kitchen. Beautifully prepared, with no fillers, it was made measurably better by the accompanying tarragon-caper sauce. Perfect! This was followed by two orders of the freshest Chilean Seabass I have seen lately, prepared with Shoyu Butter and served with Jasmine Rice. Simply stated, this is the very best Seabass presentation on the planet. Rumor has it that Seabass will soon make it to the menu. We can only hope that is true. As soon as I figure out how to make Shoyu Butter, it is going on everything. Just incredible. Dinner was concluded with a signature Walden Gran Marnier soufflé, and a great cappuccino. Together with the incredibly refined service delivered by Randy, this was an anniversary dinner to remember. As Casa Nostra grows and evolves, and knowing that status quo does not live here, keeps me very excited about where this incredible team will take this venue. I am sure that it will be spectacular, and I plan to be there often to experience it.
Food wasn't very good and certainly not worth the price. I got the bolognese. Figured I'd get something simple and in their wheelhouse. Noodles were overcooked and sauce was under seasoned. My wife got the bronzino. We incorrectly assumed (for $30) that it would have been a whole fish served as such. Instead, it was some unappetizing strips of fish served over some vegetables. Also under seasoned. Tiramisu was terrible. We returned it. Beer and music as decent.
We previously dined at this location when it was Palio and enjoyed the food but it was missing something. It has found it with Casa Nostra. The service is impeccable and the food was delicious. Our table had many dishes including shrimp scampi, calamari, Caesar salad, caprese salad, bolognese, lasagna, crab cake, and the fish special, the branzino. We even had dessert with an assortment of tiramisu, zabaglione, spumoni, and canoli. Add in a bottle of wine (and even a beer and a Pellegrino) and the bill was about $100/person with tip. Not inexpensive, but as you can see, we had quite a bit! The food was fresh and the flavors were spot on. Of the main courses, the branzino was probably our fav. Of the desserts, the spumoni and zabaglione were at the top. As mentioned the service is quite good. We will definitely dine here again.
Excellent food prepared by a skilled and creative chef. Always choose the special of the day!
Another great dinner at Casa Nostra, which was notable given that this was my first visit with Chef William Walden away from the kitchen. My wife and I scattered our choices around the menu, and were not at all surprised that Chef Walden's kitchen performed magnificently in his absence. Just another hallmark of this great chef; his vision continues unabated even when he is not there to add his very special touch to the more complex dishes. And, of course, the service, delivered by Randy on this night, was exceptional. Given the talent in the kitchen and in the management of this great restaurant, it is no surprise that quality is never dependent on the presence of anyone. Neither Walden nor owner David Saavedra are given to maintaining status quo, so I fully expect them to find ways to continue to push Casa Nostra to the next level. Can't wait to experience whatever that brings!
Great date night spot - the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
This was an excellent Sunday Brunch. Certainly the best brunch presentation anywhere in the area currently. The menu has all of the brunch classics, executed to perfection, along with many of the regular menu offerings, which could easily lure you away from the brunch items. As always, the service was excellent, creating a fun way to spend a few hours on Sunday. This remains the very best fine dining venue in Loudoun. I have dined here many times, and each time the experience was extraordinary. I have noted a few reviews on this site that were somewhat negative, but I have seen nothing to justify that treatment. While no restaurant gets everything exactly right for every single customer, my personal observations suggests that these guys manage to come pretty close. If you are looking for a near perfecting fine dining experience, this would be my recommendation.
I was disappointed in the soup de jour; Tuscan White Bean, it tasted more like Minestrone with a few white beans in it. My friend ordered the Lasagna which looked lovely - she said it was great. My Dover Sole was swimming in butter, too heavily laden with mushrooms and capers (which spoiled the subtle taste of the fish). The presentation with corn, sautéed spinach, zucchini and purple potatoes was a little too much for my taste. If I go back, I'll stick to the Lasagna, and maybe branch out for other Italian pasta dishes. The waiter was pleasant and helpful...but seemed a little overwhelmed with the tables he had. All in all, I was disappointed with the food...but the live music downstairs sounded to be wonderful and the classical music in the background and the setting of the restaurant was very nice.
Food was superb!! Our waiter, Eric, made our dining experience amazing! Definitely a top choice in our area!!
Food is excellent! Service is excellent!
Definitely the best Italian experience in the area!
This is a new fine dining Italian restaurant which is clearly from the start one of the two best restaurants in town. It's in a location which has seen restaurants come and go, and I certainly hope that they stay. Our appetizers included a shrimp scampi with six jumbo shrimp that could have been an entree, and Beef Carpaccio which had, for my taste, too many tasty things on top of the beef. My wife & I ate two different veal dishes - hers had a light Madeira sauce, crab meat, and pasta, while mine had a sauce of Marsala and demi-glace, and roasted potatoes. The vegetables really reveal the quality of ingredients & cooking, because each (carrot, zucchini, and spinach) were separately prepared to perfection. Limoncello souffle was great, with a sauce of liquid custard and limoncello. Portions are on the medium-to-large size, and prices are on the reasonable side for food of this quality, and a couple of dishes in each category are less expensive. The wine list offers many choices, about half from Italy. We had glasses of two very different Italian whites (Gavi and Arneis) and brought a bottle of '06 Brunello (they have a corkage fee.)
The food was fine, but not great. The atmosphere was depressing, and the drinks were poorly made. While our server was very nice, the service was beyond slow. We waited for almost 50 minutes for dessert (a soufflé that was supposed to have been ordered when we received our entrees). There wasn’t anything special about the meal, and it just wasn’t worth the time or money. What a disappointment
Tried this restaurant for the first time and will definitely be back! Cute cozy setting with delicious authentic Italian food. The wait staff are professional, knowledgeable and very engaging. The chef came out and introduced himself and spent quite a bit of time with the customers. Highly recommend!
The food is so fresh and delicious! I had the branzino which was superb - perfectly cooked and so flavorful. My husband said the rack of lamb was the best he has ever had plus it was such a generous portion- he had to wrap up the rest to take home. Service was exceptional. Definitely coming back to try more dishes on the menu. They had a rockabilly band playing classic hits Saturday night. It was a lot of fun.
Casa Nostra has only been in Leesburg for a couple of months. It is a welcome addition to the town. The menu is incredible. It is very traditional Italian, beginning with anti pasta, then to salad, fish, chicken and meat, and finally dessert and wonderful coffee. We have been there several times, and everything we have had has been exquisite. The chef is outstanding, and if he has a free moment will come to your table to greet you. He is a great guy. This is definitely the restaurant for a special occasion, or just a night out. I highly recommend it.
