The Chateaubriand was prepared to perfection and the presentation was spot on. It was a very special meal and the service was impeccable. Ask for Sam if you can.
Great place for a pre-concert dinner if going to St Andrews. We were going to the Xmas Vancouver symphony concert. It was easy to reserve a table online. The staff understood about the concert timing . The food was delicious.
To Whom It May Concern:
Delighted to have found such an excellent Italian restaurant and will spread the word when I return to UBC in January.
Our waitress, Jessica, was infinitely obliging and first-class, and my four guests enjoyed themselves greatly, but I would have a few suggestions for Chef Woods.
My crab cake was only warm rather than hot, and I had the impression that it was just warmed-up rather than freshly fried, while the fry-taste of the batter dominated rather than the crab, which could have benefitted from a touch of tartar sauce or vinegar. Jessica wasn’t fazed when I requested vinegar, but the kitchen was, in that an appropriate dispenser didn’t exist. In my book, vinegar like tartar sauce, is a customary accompaniment for fish dishes.
I had a temperature problem with the bisque also. It too, was warm, rather than hot, even before I added the sherry I had ordered specially. Also, the dry taste of those silly little oyster crackers detracted rather than enhanced the experience. They could and should be dispensed with. Toast triangles would be preferable.
That said, the overall impression was very positive, including the ambience, not to mention learning that you make your own pasta.
I had asked a member of the Italian faculty a couple of months ago when considering some entertaining whether any of the Italian restaurants in town made their own, and drew a blank.
Now that we have an Italian government appointee on faculty for the next six years, I’ll make sure that she learns of this . . . and passes it on to the consulate-general, if they are not already aware of same.
DV, I look forward to proposing that ITAL302 have its graduation celebration chez C/Prime.
The food quality here is excellent. Top quality ingredients prepared perfectly. At a decent price point considering the quality. The downside was the ambiance and service which were closer to Denny's than fine dining.
Everyone in our group of 8 was pleasantly surprised that the food was very good and place was comparatively quiet, which was great for conversations. A little bit pricey, however, considering that most entrees were not complete without an additional side at extra cost.
Very quiet restaurant. Given the food quality and service I would have expected it to be busier.
The New York striploin my wife ordered was excellent, as was my order of BC short ribs, tender and juicy. We were there on a quiet night, only one of four tables in our section, so it's difficult to say if it would be a quiet spot on a busy night, but we certainly appreciated being able to have a quiet conversation. The staff were helpful, courteous and accommodating. A very nice dining experience.
Excellent service and food!
Very well prepared meal with excellent quality ingredients. The lamb was perfectly prepared and the portion side was generous. Nice atmosphere and good service.
The noise level made our conversation very difficult if not impossible. Also, my Negroni across the Street at Bar One in the Sheraton Wall Centre was more like the one I would make at home and not watered down as the ones I ordered at C Prime Lounge. Also, the screw-up about not being allowed to reserve a booth for five at CPrime Lounge made for a frustrating and not totally great experience, Rick Stenhouse
A bit disappointing this time. "Hash brown" potatoes had been sitting around and didn't taste good. In general there was not the touch we had experienced before. The only reason the noise level was higher in the mid morning hour was a fussing child sitting nearby.
Elegant, airy room.
Unique menu choices.
Wonderful low-key service.
The only positive is that we had a coupon for the restaurant which made it reasonable. The host stand was left unmanned more often than not throughout our dinner, our server seemed inexperienced and for the price point the food was underwhelming.
Excellent food and drinks, but the service was even better!
We had dinner at C Prime twice this weekend. It was so good the first night that we returned the next night. Our servers on both evenings were fantastic. Sasha was not only a great waiter, but his wine knowledge was superb. It was a joy to be served by him. The next night our server was Mary, another gem. She was an interesting and fun waitress .
The rack of lamb was excellent and a generous portion but it wasn’t clear that no sides were included so we had to order mashed potatoes after the lamb was served. It arrived very speedily while the lamb was still hot, so no harm done.
My girlfriend and I were staying in the hotel and decided to try the restaurant. We started with drinks at the Happy Hour and enjoyed the friendly service in the lounge area. We were pleasantly surprised by the large selection of menu items and the discount coupon the hotel offered was an extra bonus. The meal was superb and the chocolate dessert was mouth-watering. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely visit again next time in Vancouver.
Diners can not go wrong with the extensive menu options. Everything is prepared to perfection with the finest ingredients.
We just went there because staying in the hotel. What a surprise! Super-friendly and accommodating staff, excellent food and service. Great experience.
Service was absolutely wonderful, and dishes were excellent, especially the roasted beets. Went perfect with the steak. Restaurant seemed exceptionally quiet; it was late, although a weekend.
The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. I love the fresh focaccia bread with olives and dipping oil. I have sampled a few items from the menu and everything has been delicious. Highly recommend.
I ordered wagyu beef medium... came well done.. I had much better onion rings at A&W.
My friend ordered salmon.. way toooooo dry
Beer glasses were cold! thumbs up
we did say anything to the server. why?? food we ordered was so basic, still couldnt get it right! why bother
If we ordered somehing not on the menu, i understand.. And it is rated one of the best in town.
Celebrated a graduation in the family before walking over to the Orpheum for ceremony. Food
was excellent and wine selection was fabulous. If you are looking for great Italian food, you must come here. Hidden gem!!!
Handmade lobster ravioli were fantastic! That said, service was subpar for the price. Crab cake was dry, flavorless and not worth its name. Side dish of beets looked sad.
Excellent service, very friendly staff, always have smile and friendly word even when leaving after a long day.
In town for our 30th wedding anniversary, your hotel, staff help make this a very special trip.Special Thank you to Doug at front desk and at C Prime -wonderful food, servers and bartender.
It was very nice to have this restaurant as part of our hotel stay.
Our poor server! We tried to order white wine off the menu and three times they did not have either available or even chilled. In the end they comped a cheap bottle of white wine that was just ok.
The appetizers were good (scallops, shrimp etc). The Sable fish was excellent but the steaks were just OK and they came with brick hard mummified inedible onion rings.
The experience was not up to the price point really except our server who had no support from a manager or other staff. The manager should have come over but instead left our waitress to struggle.
STOP! Don't go here.
There is no reason to visit this restaurant.
We were greeted very nicely but the evening went down hill from there. A chair that we almost sat in was disgustingly stained, the paper menu's appeared very well used.
Our bread was fine, our waiter was nice, however very poorly trained in service. Also having not heard of a Crantini, and said he was the bartender...
As far as mains, our short ribs were too sweet and the steak too salty. The onion rings were bad, overdone with a poor choice of breading/coating.
Starters of focaccia bread, olives and salad were nice but mains were disappointing and hugely overpriced. Beware the "Dover sole" - one of the most expensive items. It arrived, surprisingly, as a whole (head and tail) bone-in fish hanging over the sides of the plate. Our waiter did not offer to debone it, and had to be tracked down to bring a plate for the bones. The accompanying sauce was unpleasant too. To make matters worse, though the place was less than half full, we were seated very close to a table of three who talked (and swore) loudly for an hour. Decor is nice enough, but there was no background music of any kind and the overall ambiance was depressing.
A beautiful restaurant. Service definitely outstanding. Food was excellent & a very nice portion.
Nothing but good to say about this restaurant
Very friendly atmosphere and nice ambience. Great service with happy smiles
We enjoyed a delicious dinner of fish and homemade pasta. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was excellent.
Can’t believe it is a hotel restaurant!!!
The customer service was bad. :(
Great food and ambience. However, service was on the disappointing side. Or server walked around with a water pitcher and filled up glasses from people around our table, and completely missed our table. She went around the second time and failed to fill our cups when it’s been empty for quite some time. Other tables around us had the offer to get their bread tin refilled but we didn’t get the offer. On top of that, the server did not even ask if we were done with the meal and decided to give us the bill. We overheard other servers asking if the patrons wanted coffee or tea after their meal, but where was out offer? Last but not least, we waited half an hour for the server to show up and collect the money. She had the decency to hand us the bill but did not come up to us so that we could pay. What a waste of time! Not sure what her name was, but to be descriptive, she was caucasian while all the other servers were asian.
We went to C Prime because the Dine Out menu looked very tasty for $30 and it did not disappoint. The service was very good and the portions excellent for the price we paid. The mushroom gnocchi was delicious; I would go back to have it was a main! The mussels starter was nothing special, but tasty. There's a nice touch to the free bread which is seasoned nicely and accompanied by olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and olives with a nice presentation. The lamb main was fall-off-the-bone tender and paired with wilted spinach and a lovely purée. The dessert was a chocolate mouse cake in a portion that is almost too generous, accompanied by a bourbon vanilla gel to that I wish I had more of. They did a $20 dollar wine pairing with Dine Out, which was my only disappointment since it wasn't stated the size of the pairings and though priced reasonably, was small portions to which I would have rather had ordered stand alone glasses. Decor is lovely and the space is not too load. We all agreed we would go back.
Excellent food, service and value for our dineout experience. Wine pairing choices were good but amounts for price appeared less than satisfactory
Food was great, service was okay, but did not let us use the Opentable certificate because they had "never seen the cheque before". Initially seated us at the bar despite having made reservations specifically for a table, but moved us back after a table freed up.
Came here for Dine out with my boyfriend, the food was amazing! and for it being a restaurant in a hotel you didn't feel like it.
Even though it was a dine out menu it was sooooo good, I got the lamb as my main it just melted off the bone and in my mouth. My boyfriend got the snapper, which was also good but we both agreed the lamb was better and just so good.
Our server on the other had I wasn't too impressed with, he was very condescending, I got the vibe he was very old school fine dining trained server and we were 20 somethings in jeans (we'd dressed nice but still casual) he never smiled and seemed very unimpressed when I picked what my boyfriend was drinking (he'd ask me to surprise him) and even less impressed when I paid. For the most part he was an attentive server but he basically only addressed my boyfriend and seemed annoyed when I did anything so I was left with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth (except not cause like the food was amazing)
Came here for Dine Out and their service was spectacular. Not a single bad thing to say about my experience and I was pretty skeptical going in. Def worth!
Very friendly service. Very good happy hour wine selection for great price.
Nice ‘Dine out’ menu.
