Absolutely great waiter! We've been for happy hour a couple of times. Food is very good, especially the wague tacos, but everything is tasty! Outside the HH menu we enjoyed the tuna tostada more than the vegetarian tacos.

Had dinner with my parents here and loved everything! We got one of the shareable plates and I will be back for it. It was amazing! Drinks were great as well. Service was also great for how packed it was!

We had a reservation for the patio for Mother's Day and were placed at a table with significant sun exposure for 2 of us. Another 6 seater table on the patio became available and we asked to be moved. We were told that it was reserved and that we could not switch. When we left 2 hours and 15 minutes later, no one had been seated at the empty table and our necks were heavily sunburned. Our server could not understand Spanish or the menu items and mistook our order more than once since she didn't understand the Spanish pronunciation of the menu items.

They have a very interesting menu and I will look forward to trying more dishes. It's an upbeat vibe...wish they had better wine by the bottle pricing...find it a bit irritating when they don't give a break on bottle pricing. Wine gouging IMHO.

The restaurant graciously accommodated our request for indoor seating for lunch for a party of 5 and a birthday request for a a large slice of tres leche to share. The food was very good—fresh and authentic. The corn tortillas are house made. The service was excellent—attentive but not intrusive.

We enjoyed ourselves immensely the staff was great. The vibe at night was fun and lively. We had a large party, and they accommodated us very nicely. It was a little tight, but we had a great time. The food was delicious.

Service was OK. Margherita’s good. Among our group of 4 only one meal was noteworthy- the pork mole. Other than that, food was simple and not very flavourful. Expected more for the price point.

The food was salty, greasy, and flavorless. Cocktails were weak and flavorless. They burned incense that smelled awful. We asked the waitress about this and she said they do this every night. Not going back.

While visiting Congress Street in Austin we stopped by Chapulin Cantina. At first, we were told that there was no availability and that the wait would be about 1 1/2 hour wait. So we left. I then got on Open Table to see if they had any availability and sure enough, they had some. So I made a reservation. I then walked back in to greet the same person who had just denied me. I advised him that I had a reservation to his surprise and he seemed upset. Nevertheless, we were seated. I looked around and saw many open tables so I don't know why we were originally turned away. The food was okay but nothing to really recommend. I would rate 3 out of 5 stars. You be the judge.

Our server Migi B 🇧🇷 made the experience perfect. We came with a service animal and Migi quickly brought our dog water and made us feel welcomed. The food was good and the cocktails… I was recommended two different cocktails and they were both amazing! Go for the food but stay awhile in Migi’s section and drink your way through the list of cocktails.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The menu has a good range of prices for a nice restaurant in Sustin and the food is so good! I’ve been multiple times and always enjoyed attentive service. It has a delightfully extensive mezcal bar. The music was a little loud for my taste but most seem to enjoy it. Try it, you’ll love it!

Friends in town and wanted to celebrate. Deep in the heart of South Congress, Chapulins unique Mexican art and authentic Mexican cuisine inspired and awed. Enjoyed world class mole and mescal right prepared by our waiter Gordy. A great time! We will all be back.

First time trying this place, my friend and i are huge mezcal fans. There selection is insane and their food was extremely flavorful and delicious. We had a green time. Will definitely come again. Our waitress was also pretty amazing.

Definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys Oaxacan style food fare, especially mole. Our waiter seemed a bit disorganized, but the runners were very knowledgable and engaging. The food was delicious. My friend and I enjoyed guacamole (delish), wagyu tacos the pork memelas and a mole desgustacion.

Awesome Happy Hour! I went with a friend last night and their $8 House Marg with Tajin subbed for salt! Awesome! They have an awesome Tequila and Mezcal selection! Their Memelas $8 were also great! In fact we had all six of their apps for $8 each and they were all great! We will definitely be back! They also now have free valet parking (Payment in tips)! That's a huge plus on SoCo!

This is the closest you will get to interior Mexican vibe, libations and cuisine. Different from Fonda San Miguel in north Austin, this South Congress location is unique.

The food is excellent, I would say it’s on the expensive end though, but not surprising since it’s on south Congress. We had issues with service last night with our server forgetting about us and not putting our food order in, wine glasses and chips took 40 minutes. Joshua noticed and took good care of us after this. I am sure with Sxsw we just got them on an off day and this review is only related to my 1 experience there.

Food was average at best and sever was not very friendly. She never refilled water glasses or paid attention to beverage levels. We ordered 5 deserts and received one, but it wasn’t worth mentioning as she failed on many attempts on our food and drink order. Wanted to love this place based on recommendations from friends but unfortunately it missed the most basic points on delivering good quality food and simple service.

It was the perfect birthday venue for my dear friend who loves Mezcal! We enjoyed guacamole chapulin, queso flameado, and a fabulous ceviche, along with delicious Mezcal cocktails. And they put a candle in some orange flan for the birthday girl! Thank you!

We absolutely LOVE this place!! The food is truly amazing and authentic and you cannot beat the Mezcal selection! If you like Mezcal then do not hesitate coming here! If you aren't sure if you like Mezcal, then have a margarita and sub the tequila for mezcal. Add some spice to the rim and thank me later! :) P.S. Happy Hour is amazing too!

Delicious authentic Oaxacan food in Austin! We enjoyed all of our dishes and cocktails, as well as the chill ambience. The duck mole is on point, as are the fish tacos! For cocktails, I loved the Chapulín Colorado! We can’t wait to come back and try to memelas, tlayudas, and more appetizers in the future!
