   Having numerous choices of small plates allows you to feast on a wide variety of flavors and sensations. Each plate was novel and very tasty. Charlie was a sinner is now high on my list of Philly restaurant recommendations.

   The food here is great and so is the service. Unfortunately, it is a small location with tables tightly packed in, leading to a very loud room. You can't even hear yourself think it is so loud. We were there on a Friday night. Perhaps an off night would have been quieter. We still loved it, but I would be reticent to return on a busy night.

   Such a dark seductive and trendy atmosphere! The dim lighting, loud music and mysterious decor makes for a fun date and great night out with a friend. The tapas were delicious! We especially loved the eggplant bao buns and the Mediterranean plate! What a fun place!

   I’ve been here a handful of times with my partner and we love the ambience of this restaurant and the cocktails. I personally think the food is just okay, a lot of it is either too much of one flavor or lacking flavor and quite bland. The servers are always nice and friendly as well

   food was mediocre at best. it took the waiting staff 15 minutes to approach us about ordering. the restaurant is very very dark, so be wary of that. the drinks were the best part.

   We are always happy when we stop here for a drink or dinner. I always make a reservation so I am not disappointed. Cozy and energetic atmosphere. Food is so delicious. Every dish is a surprise and always tasty. Drinks are also creative and delicious. Wait staff is very professional and attentive.

    Our server cut us off several times and seemed to rush us throughout the meal. We were waiting for two of our last orders and she tried to close us out two times. We also were sat in the back corner and I kept getting jostled by the wait staff. The food was good, but not worth the snotty waitstaff and seating area.

    Great food and solid HH options, except there should be at least one mocktail on the HH menu. As usual, the lighting was way too dim and we needed our phone flashlights to read the menu. It's also quite loud in there. But overall delicious food, great service, and great vibe.

    I was visiting Philly for a conference and booked the reservation not realizing it was a Vegan spot. I chose it b/c of its curious name, proximity to my hotel, and the great reviews. I scanned the menu and saw a few 'meat' items, so I booked it and never looked at menu again. My 2 guests pointed out that it was vegan and asked if this was my new preference, to which I replied, 'nope, I'm quite the carnivore!" We decided to 'opt in' and sample, and when we arrived the place was packed which was our first clue that the food was good! So grateful we had a reservation because we were seated quickly, and LOVED the dining experience. We ordered 6 items to share and prepared to order more, but were satisfied with the portion sizes. We devoured everything placed before us. And yes, the 'vegan chicken' tasted like chicken and the crab cakes were amazing! The drinks were tasty, and our server was spectacular. It was magnificent. I'm grateful for the delicious "accidental Vegan" experience and can't wait to return to Philly. My niece is doing a residency at Penn and lives around the corner from the restaurant so I've encouraged her to reserve and dine at this delicious neighborhood gem!

    We came into Philly to spend time with our Temple student and have dinner with her. This restaurant exceeded our expectations! Very cozy and the food was amazing! We got the potato croquettes and Charlie fries as small plates. They were both delicious!!!

    Food was good but it is the darkest restaurant I have ever been in. Barely any lights and was packed to the walls but over all food was good. Is a little pricey for the size of plates but they do tell you they are tapas style. Love that it is an all vegan menu and drinks were good too!

    This hip, Center City restaurant was the place to be on a Monday night. The restaurant was mobbed (and with it, extremely loud), so I definitely recommend making a reservation and noting to go elsewhere if you’re looking for a quieter/more intimate outing. For a fully vegan restaurant, Charlie was a sinner did NOT disappoint. Shout out, too, for having a gluten free menu as well! The zero proof cocktails are absolutely fantastic (blackberry ginger soda, for those ginger fans). The Mama’s meatballs were an impressive texture (if you told me they weren’t meat I would have never known) with a delicious ricotta (nondairy of course). The brassica salad with falafel was a wonderful combination and flavor, with three small falafel bits. The pan seared cauliflower was the star of the show, but some bites of the pad Thai salad noodle were undercooked. The service seemed to be a little non attentive/rushing, however we learned there was an employee appreciation event later that evening so I’m going to assume that was the cause. Overall, nice experience and I look forward to coming back.

    First, the cocktails were spectacular. Made me resigned to upping my own game. Really friendly atmosphere, bartenders and servers. Most of the food was imaginative, tasty and gorgeous. I don’t go for the deep fried stuff and the “ricotta” was pretty bland. But many other dishes were delicious and very beautifully presented. They’ll explain the dishes in detail and get what you want. Really a great pleasure.

    This was my second time dining here, and it lived up to the experience the first time around. The food is delicious, and the whole vibe tops it off.     I visited Charlie was a sinner many years ago and was in town for a quick visit so I decided to go back and I'm so happy we did. Their food is delicious, the plates are the perfect sizes, and the flavors are mind-blowing. If you drink alcohol their cocktail menu is fantastic, I love how unique and innovative they are.     Birthday celebration was awesome because it was just us two so sharing was good we got three dishes which was perfect amount! Our waiter was amazing he told us about all the drinks , his opinion was great to hear bc there’s a large selection of drinks that all sound good! We ended up getting the ecstatic dance and witches race. Very special night to celebrate birthday and our last night in Philly :)

    Amazing vegan food, 100% plant-based but in many cases you wouldn't know it! My picky vegan friend out West would have sent back the "lamb," insisting it was real animal. Nope, it's not. Great friendly service, good wine & cocktail list.

    Charlie was a sinner. is one of our favorite places in the city. I love taking friends of ALL dietary ilks here because the food is just plain good. (not "good for vegan food, I guess"). Absolute favorites are the zucchini sliders, the ricotta, and the eggplant bao buns! Don't forget to enjoy whatever the day's Charlie's Punch is. Happy Hour is extra awesome here!

    Charlie never disappoints! As a vegetarian with a variety of uncommon food allergies, I often have a tough time in restaurants. The waitstaff here are outstanding and very careful about what they serve me. It’s greatly appreciated. The food is amazing, as are the creative cocktails.     Truly surprised to find this is a vegan restaurant when it isn't mentioned at all on the OpenTable profile and is unclear on the menu too. Overall, decent experience. Our server could've been more attentive, he didn't really have a spiel prepared or ask how we enjoyed each course, but he seemed well intentioned. The food was okay (some great, some not - particularly our party loved the bao buns, fried tofu, potato croquettes, the chocolate cake, crepes, and the gnocchi (though it was not hot when it hit the table). We found the "calamari" didn't have much flavor and definitely needed a sauce, meatballs (two) were too small a portion and not great (though the fake cheese was shockingly good), and the crab cake sliders were okay. They did a great job meeting my celebration requests though and the cocktails were fantastic. Probably won't be back.
