Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

    Fish was excellent. Our server, I think her name was Michelle, was prompt and attentive. Table was ready when we arrived. All in all, an excellent experience.

    Everyone from the hostess who welcomed us, the bartenders and our waiter were very welcoming and friendly. Lucas was wonderful. One person in our party eats Gluten free and he was quick to give her suggestions . I couldn’t make up My mind what I wanted and put it in his hands to surprise me. He didn’t disappoint. Everyone loved their food. Everything was superb and we can’t wait to go back.

    Service as excellent- food was above average, not exceptional. Kinda noisy at times, so asking for an appropriate table might be a good idea. Seems as though some of the food was pre-ready as it came out fast from our order and wasn’t as hot as it would have been straight from the oven. Food was above average, so it’s on the expense side…. Nice place to eat…

    We always love to dine at Charlie’s. Food is consistently very good and service is usually great. I believe they were short on servers this visit. Our server was great and as attentive as she could be. She had MANY tables at once. Our food was great as usual, but the shrimp gumbo was way too salty. Had to send it back, regrettably. Chicken crepes were spot on. Enjoyed every last bite! Of course we will return!

    This is an upscale restaurant, and the food is excellent. We have been there a number of times and we have never been disappointed. Celebrated our 42nd anniversary and it was lovely.

    A cozy place to spend the holidays or any day you want to be a holiday! Delicious food, drink, and excellent service! Our Server Lauren was incredible including her assistant Damaris! Both knowledgeable, kind and professional! The manager came by and he was very present and involved! We will be back with friends and family!

    We have been happyly dining at Charlies for well over 20 years. While this visit to Hilton head was a short one, only three days, we dined at Charlies all three nights with Jeff, Anthony, and Mark. We have had everything on the menu at one time or other and it was this time, as always fantastic. Flounder, Monkfish, burger, chicken crepes, filet, nothing better. And while the food is always amazing, it's the people, staff and customers that make Charlies special. Jeff, Anthony, and Mark are like family. And dining at the bar we always meet someone we have something in common with. This time one grew up in the small town in Ohio where our son just moved to. On the other side of us the couple's one time neighbor was a director of the small bank I worked for many years ago in another small town in Ohio. I remember him well. There is no other place like it anywhere.

    Recommended by friends who live in a Hilton Head - and we were very happy that we went last night. Our server, Lucas, was attentive, friendly and very helpful. We had the Parmesan crusted cod and the red trout…both were very good. And the escargot was excellent (maybe serve some bread/rolls with them for dipping?). The only real downside was the noise - there was a table of 8 beside us who were so loud that it made it difficult to carry on a conversation. When we return to Hilton Head, we will make another stop at Charlie’s.

    My steak was not very good! It tasted like it had been microwaved! My wife’s fish dish was great! We enjoy the restaurant and the good service! We will return but I will not have a steak or beef. It is a very pleasant place and we have always enjoyed eating there!
