Chartier is a rustic, French-Canadian restaurant located in the heart of Beaumont, AB. The menu, created by Head Chef Tamara Solon, is an elevated take on rustic French-Canadian favourites; made with love, care, and extraordinary amounts of butter. Our food is for everyone.     I got the eggs and ham (fèves aux lard) and it was lacking some flavour (needed some salt). But apart from that, the whole experience was great.

    Chartier is absolutely wonderful restaurant, one of my fav)) The stylish French-Canadian pearl of our pretty Beaumont. Food, ambiance (elegant and rustic notes make me feel very cozy) and staff so great that I will be back for sure. PS: Also, enjoying to discover and to try super tasty desserts 👌.

    We went to Chartier the day before they closed… or were to have closed. Our server asked us if we were celebrating anything. What I didn’t say that I will say now is that we celebrated our first time there and that it won’t be our last! The vibe is casual and cool. Service outstanding. Food delish! How awesome for the community, owners, staff and foodies everywhere that they are able to stay open! We will be back!

    Just meh. Was expensive for what is is. Was expecting crispy fries and they were soggy. Was loud and very cold so it didn’t feel like a great environment for brunch

    Another amazing dinner at Chartier! We went for the Producer Dinner with Fifth Generation Farms and the food and service was phenomenal. We are so ecstatic that Chartier will be remaining open! Merci!

    Disappointing. A limited lunch menu, with 2 sandwiches, one of which is not available. Wines (by the glass) were really mediocre. The service was a bit inept. When we made the reservation 2 weeks in advance (no dinner seating was available), we were hoping for something better. Our previous experience (4 years ago) was much better.

    We had a wonderful time; the only thing my husband commented on was that the place smelled "fishy" but that's because they were featuring Fish&Chips where the fish was sourced by Effing Seafoods. I don't think it's like that all the time. The service was excellent, ambiance was eclectic and food amazing.

    disappointed on this visit but i suspect that when they announced their closing some of their regular staff moved on and now that they have changed course and are remaining open they are struggling to fill the gaps. Hope when the smoke settles they will get back to their previous high standard

    I invited seven friends to join me. It was my first experience at Chartier, and it was supposed to be a memorable one, considering the restaurant's closure. The first major issue was the lack of soundproofing. We found ourselves in the small room that echoed so much that we couldn't even hear each other speak. The second major issue is the lack of refinement. The ladies who ordered smoked meat sandwiches were served sandwiches that were thicker than the opening of their mouths and with meat that was too greasy. We would have enjoyed some good wine to accompany our meal, but unfortunately, the wines offered were not priced in line with the sandwiches we ordered. The comment "no wonder the restaurant is closing its doors" was uttered more than once in the cars as we each headed home.

    The ambiance is always a treat at Chartier, but the food was lacking. The price point didn’t match the flavour of the food and it was disappointing from my previous experiences. I would still go back but am not likely to get their main dishes again, I will still to shared plates and dessert.

    We always love our experiences at Chartier. We have been several times and never leave disappointed. The haricot vert are like an addiction and I highly recommend. This time it was the chicken sandwich, and it was yummy and I had leftovers for two days (ok maybe I ordered a bit too much lol). Thanks for the great service, food and ambiance. So happy to hear you are sticking around!

    Chartier was a true high end community dining experience. It's strange to put the words high end and community together, but it's the best way to describe the place. The high end part comes from the quality of attention and care each staff member gives you from the moment you walk in. We were greeted warmly and promptly. Our table was just being cleaned when we arrived so we got to partake in the fabulous baked goods at the front of the store. The best part is that the staff added the goodies to our bill and we paid only once at the end of the night. At the table itself, one of the owners came by to greet us and take our order. We had a pleasant conversation about the location, how the community has stepped up to show its love and support for a local shop and what the future holds for the establishment. Needless to say we all left with lighter hearts and fuller stomachs by the time the night was through. The food itself was beyond excellent. The fried green beans packed a delicious crunch and the soup was a gift from the ethereal plane that danced mysteriously across our tastebuds. Eggs and poutine are now our new favorite breakfast item and since we couldn't decide on the chicken or the smoked meat sandwhich, we ended up getting both. The taste! Ughhh. I'm at a loss for words with the things that meal did to my mouth *whispers* close your ears children*. Chartier comes highly recommended if you're a lover of good Canadian cuisine or just food for that matter. My girlfriend and I drove from north Edmonton to try it out and it was well worth the trip.

    So so sad that our favourite restaurant and the best restaurant in the whole Edmonton area, bar none is closing. Was a bittersweet last meal at the place we had one of our first dates. As always amazing food and just such a fantastic place. We we miss Chartier so much… hopefully somehow it comes back. Maybe open in Sherwood Park… we will be there every week. Au Revoir!

    Chartier never fails to provide anything but excellent service and wonderful food made from locally sourced ingredients. Great decor, comfortable and eclectic, including the serving dishes. Very attentive and friendly staff with owner Sylvia checking in on us as well. We are hoping for a miracle to keep this gem open in Beaumont.

    Very sad that this was our first, and apparently our last time at Chartier. Haven’t been there before as I prefer to cycle to places and we live in Edmonton. But really worth the drive, and really happy we got in. Ambience was relaxed and cozy. The staff were super friendly and we felt very much welcomed and at home. The food was really good, and the house cocktails were simply amazing. So much thought put into everything.
