   Ask for the dimly lit room in the back if you're making a group reservation. It's got a nice vibe and not many people know about it.

   The food was fantastic. We started with tots and poutine and onion soup. I had the shrimp and grits. Sauce really made the dish. My partner had braised short rib and loved it. We will definitely come back.

   Cheesetique is always great, whether it's Shirlington or Del Ray, but if you have a dog with you, Del Ray is the place to be. Not only is the food for humans amazing, but the staff in Del Ray absolutely love dogs and do everything in their power to be accommodating. During our dinner celebrating my fiancee's birthday, they brought out some treats for our dog to keep him happy, repeatedly brought out fresh water, and even gave him a cheese treat. Plus it was easy to order him a burger patty (just the patty) for "dinner" to join in on the celebration. Our food was also extremely tasty. Our one disappointment? They were out of the spare ribs so we had to change our meal order. The atmosphere is also stellar.

   I really want to love Cheesetique, but I often struggle to do so. The food is very basic. Yesterday, for Mother's Day prix fixe menu, the eggs for deviled eggs were chewy, the vinaigrette on the salad was tasteless, and the frittata had zero flavor and a chewy (microwaved?) texture. What was nice was the atmosphere, and the mimosa "bucket" so we could do our own proportions (not nice is having to pay for a second tiny carafe of OJ - seems one extra could be free as a gesture of hospitality). Service was attentive until the end when it wasn't - it was hard to get the check and our deserts to go (20 min or so with 2 reminders and one time getting up to find someone). I love the cheese and wine shop, but dining (other than drinks and cheese plate) doesn't feel worth it.

   As always, the food was great! But it took over an hour for our food to arrive, even though we saw three tables completely come and go while we waited. Our server apologized profusely, explaining that the kitchen was backed up, and offered us a gift card to compensate. Nonetheless, a couple of our group of five had to leave hungry because they couldn’t wait any longer. This is one of our favorite restaurants - but the wait times for food have become really erratic lately.

    The food was phenomenal, as usual. We went for impromptu Easter dinner, and the service was fantastic and friendly. Our server made great recommendations, and was so sweet. The baked Brie starter, the crab mac and cheese, and the French onion grilled cheese were out of this world.

    We love Cheesetique! The goat cheese and arugula salad is truly to die for— especially when you add steak (which is their signature shaved, Philly cheesesteak version). I dream about it. Service is always fantastic, and everyone from my out-of-town girlfriends to my hard-to-please husband and toddler love it. You won’t regret giving this local gem a try.

    We had a table in the “wine cellar” section and it was perfect. Our servers were excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. It was a family get-together for brunch and all of us enjoyed our food. The lemon ricotta pancakes were a treat! Will try it again for lunch

    We had a wonderful time! There was one hiccup in which one persons meal wasn’t delivered with the rest of the party, but they corrected that quickly and made it up to us. I will definitely be back, Yum!

    Disappointed that brunch lasts until 4:00 PM. ??? We drove a long way to eat (6 hours) there but were unable to get what we wanted due to a limited brunch menu which pretty much lasted all day. We wanted to eat tater tot poutine. We made the best of it and ordered a sandwich which was tasty but pricey. The server was amazing and apologized that our selection was unavailable.

    The meal itself was a nice concept. Did not think the original wine to go with the cheese plate was the right choice for the pairing. The bread on the cheese and charcuterie platter had been sliced in advance and left in the frig with the platter, and it was stone cold. Everything felt rushed, and we were gone in less than one hour, start to finish. People were wisking away glasses and items before we finished them or not asking if we needed a small plate, another napkin, etc. Never were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We were early for our reservation, waited on others to be seated, but if everybody wants to leave so soon, don't make it so obvious. Kitchen was looking out and complaining about which was their last table, too, very obvious. Not what we have come to expect from Cheesetique in the past, for sure. It wasn't that busy when we were there, either. Main course was good but way, way too much sauce on the gnocchi and not enough zest or flavor, just like a soupy cheese goo. Dessert was better but did not need the large amount of sauce on the flourless chocolate cake. Could have been better, for sure.

    Everything at Cheesetique was perfect from start to finish. Our greater was very welcoming and chose a lovely table for us. Our server was thoughtful and helpful without being overbearing. The menu was creative and everything sounded delicious. The food we chose was cooked to perfection. This is a great place for a casual lunch or a special date night. Check it out!

    Popped in for lunch at the counter. Great time and sandwich-grown up grilled cheese- was fantastic. Each had a glass of wine and shared cheesecake for dessert. Wait staff was great as always.

    While we have been to Cheesetique many times and have ALWAYS enjoyed them thoroughly, this time we left disappointed and would like to think it was an off day for them and for us. It was Restaurant Week. My entree was the shrimp and grits in a heavy bloody mary sauce. The shrimp was fully clothed requiring me to dig into the sauce to retrieve the shrimp and peel and discard the shells on the edge of my dish leaving unsightly "residue" on my fingers and fork. The grit cakes were almost uneatable (to me) more like a piece of toast than fluffy grits. Grit cakes were new to me so perhaps this is what grit cakes are supposed to taste like. The dessert that I ordered was not available but that revelation came after I had finished the first two courses; the other desserts did not appeal. To the restaurant's good credit, they reduced our bill appropriately. In summary, we will try Cheesetique again and expect our future experience to live up to our original enjoyment of this unique restaurant. We have no hesitation in recommending Cheesetique to friends but will reserve comment until we try once again.

    This was a disappointing dining experience, despite the cozy setting. The food was not bad but just lackluster, there was nothing really tasty or well seasoned, and the staff were interpersonally odd, bordering on surly. For example I asked what the grilled cheese of the moment was and the server said I needed to use the QR code to look up the specials. He knew, he just wasn't going to tell me, because I said, "you can't just tell me?" And he did. Another server delivered our food and asked if we needed him to "do any other favors" for us. Huh? Favors? There were also 10 people taking turns using a saber to open champagne bottles at the front of the restaurant which was decidedly distracting although the group certainly seemed to be having a big time. I won't be back.
