Creative development studio Land and Sea Dept. (Longman & Eagle, Lost Lake, Parson’s Chicken & Fish, Lonesome Rose) is pleased to present the Cherry Circle Room, at the Chicago Athletic Association, located on Michigan Avenue, in the very heart of the Loop.

Chef Pete Coenen’s offerings are both refined and rustic, and reference the
restaurant’s original opening menus of the late 1890’s. His dishes are creative,
sublime takes on familiar regional classics, utilizing the best, most flavorful and
freshest ingredients each season has to offer.

We also encourage guests to visit our adjoining spaces, with include fully restored drawing (lobby) and game rooms (with billiards, bocce, shuffleboard and more), as well as our 8 seat rare and vintage spirits tasting room, the Milk Room, all offering distinctive drink and food options specific to each room.

We stopped in Cherry Circle Room for a drink after dinner, and enjoyed the timeless ambiance and bar scene. The champagne we had was delicious, and the bartender did a great job explaining the taste to us beforehand. Overall a very enjoyable place.

I would give this overall 5 because it was excellent all the way through but to get there it's a little hard to find and when it is extremely busy you have to wade through people just to get to your table if you have a reservation that is not so cool.
Otherwise, we had the Chateaubriand. I had the duck and very nicely done, crispy duck breast. All of it was flavorful which a lot of people fail in America on Duck. The dessert was a dark chocolate creme brulee which was not too sweet and very tasty one of the best ones I've had.

Fabulous atmosphere, food, and service. The entrance experience is great, especially after poking around the building and winding our way into the restaurant. The specially printed menu offering birthday best-wishes was a really nice touch. Staff and kitchen worked with our food allergies to produce lovely food and a memorable evening. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing and portions generous enough to share. We had the pretzel baguette, beet salad, broccoli risotto, OG steak and cauliflower gratin. Shared everything for a great night.

Delicious food and excellent service but a little bit pricey for the portion size and atmosphere.

So glad we pursued getting a reservation....the historic setting, ambiance, and nod to 30s cuisine is incredibly well done...a transporting experience...

Fun time! Did wait about 15 minutes for our 7:00 reservation but not a big deal. Seated in a nice comfy booth. Had a menu for our birthday with happy birthday on it. Sent out birthday bubbly toast. Nice. Drinks from the cocktail cart did take a little while which made my father kranky. Loved all the food. Service good and awesome feel to the room. Want to come back for more!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food was very good, the cocktails were excellent, and our sommelier hooked us up with a great bottle of wine. The service was top notch. The experience was very fun.

Bar service was great, caviar delicious, wine list amazing. Ambiance lovely. Unfortunately, both of our dinners were completely overcooked. The salmon was well-done, not the medium rare the server suggested. The pork shoulder was so overcooked it was inedible. We were expecting the server to notice our plates full of food and ask us how it was but she never did. She simply asked if she could clear; not even if we wanted to take it to go. Almost as if she knew something was wrong and didn’t want to deal with it.

Early Valentines dinner. They surprised us with some sparkling wine, and the service was second to none.

This was our second time at Cherry Circle and they did not disappoint. The Sommelier guided us to a an immediate winner given my palate description for French wines. The Skate is amazing and not the very thing wind portion but a thicker piece smaller....my favorite dish for sure served with delicata squash which is seldom seen on menus...I could have the Skate every day! Found the beef tartar to be a bit too salty...this could be remedied as they assemble/prepare table-side...would still order just ask for less seasoning. The Octopus is my standard and it was again delicious. Thank you for maintaining your high standards :)

The Cherry is our favorite place in Chicago and still first on our worldwide list! Service is just perfect, food is great and we really love the ambiance. Take the time to talk to the sommeliers as they are on point with what you are looking for! Never left this place with buyer’s guilt and you’ll actually be happy to spend all this green! Special thank you to this staff whom we will miss when leaving Chicago.

Awesome hidden gem inside of Chicago Athletic Association with DELICIOUS food!

- Oysters were great. They came with 3 different varieties & served with some tasty condiments (my favorite being the jalapeno mignonette)
- Beef Tartare = SPLENDID. I'm not one to typically order beef tartare, but I might start after this one!
- French Onion Soup = AMAZING. I consider myself a French onion soup snob.. as I order them everywhere & I was throughly impressed! Their cheese was spot on! Also comes in cute, little crocks if you get it split!
- Chateaubriand which is 8 oz of super TENDER steak. Melts in your mouth. Delish.
- The OG: The meat lovers we are had to order TWO different steaks. This cut was a bone-in ribeye and while not as tender as the Chateaubriand it was bursting with marbling & flavor
- Brussels Sprout Slaw was a perfect compliment/side to our steaks
- Steamed Bouchot Mussels was large portion and came with a creamy, red coconut curry broth! Dipped all the breads in there!
- CCR Prime Triple Cheese Burger was the only thing that I thought was just ok.. Definitely not my favorite burger ever & tasted too salty for my liking
- House-Crafted Focaccia was another starter that was good, but basically just your standard bread starter.

It has a masculine, whiskey bar feel that makes you feel like your sitting in a scotch library! Service was EXCELLENT.

No complaints - I'm coming back!

This was a place my bf and I checked out for our "date day with Chicago" which we try to do once a week - love discovering new gems! We had stayed a night in this hotel last week for our "date day" but never checked out the restaurant here. We came back for lunch before heading to the planetarium!
