Chevys Fresh Mex - Santa Rosa
Good food went early to enjoy a quiet lunch
Our server was right on it Christmas Eve. When initial drinks came, not 1, but 2 sodas came for my son and husband. Food was out quickly. Server was very attentive to our table. I’m not quite sure what was happening with his hair tho. It looked very oily and slick to his head. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing but nothing special to look at, not even 1 Christmas decoration or the traditional things on the wall.
We made an outside reservation. Immediately we were told we couldn’t have it because of a private party. The waiter tried to put us outside anyway because of the reservation, and the manager came up to us and immediately moved us inside. We are not comfortable with Covid eating inside. Thankfully we were put by the outside door, and it wasn’t crowded. Making a reservation through “open table “ was misleading. We thought we could trust it, and now we’re are apprehensive to use again.
Not sure what has happened to Chevys since COVID. Must have lost their good cooks. Last several times food has been mediocre at best. Maybe I just need to drink more to make it taste better?
Food was great …as was our serve. She was hustling…restaurant was very short staffed…however we were patient
I wish I liked my experience at Chevys in Santa Rosa. It is in a great location and it’s a really nice Chevys. Our service was perfectly fine—even good. The chips and salsa were as expected. The entrees were lousy. Both of us felt the food did not taste good and neither of us ate very much of it. Afterward, we both felt Sick for hours and wished we had not eaten at Chevys.
Great lunch with friends on the outside patio. Good food and service.
We had a nice experience with this restaurant for dinner. Not too loud, never rushed, and courteous staff is the usual when dining here.
Great brunch deals! The Bottomless Bloody Marys were fabulous!
Just a good place to go on occasion. Beans & Rice are great, Fresh Chile Poblano used in Relleno, Chips on the lighter side of thickness, table salsa nice, smoky w/o using chipotle chiles
Great food and great service but we were surrounded by a large table of very obnoxious children running around screaming nonstop with nothing being done about it
Everything was great! Just couldn't believe when I got the bill that the small watermelon margarita I got was $12.50! Others in my group got larger pomegranate margaritas for like $8... That's the last time I older my drink from the special cards at the table, LOL! But food was good, and service was good, so we left full and happy.
Place didn't look very clean. Made you feel uncomfortable. Waiter was nice enough and hostess was nice. You didn't get everything that you were suppose to get on your plate.
The kitchen was overwhelmed by DoorDash orders so they stopped seating people even if you had a reservation. Some of the wait staff were rude about it. We were told “if you don’t like it, talk to the Manager” one of our favorite places so leery of going back.
4 stars all around . service needs improvement, music was too loud, and i think even if you order something a la carte, should come with some garnish.
I had not been to a Chevy's in many years, used to go frequently back in the day. I was pleasantly surprised that the salsa for the table was remarkably tasty, and all our other food was pretty good, too. Serving sizes were large and prices were very fair. The Cadillac margarita still works just fine. So we weren't wrong to go to Chevy's back in the day! Only slip was consommé with garbanzo beans promised for my barbacoa tacos didn't come at first, then came when asked for minus garbanzo beans. Oh well.
waiter dump water tray on table, we all got wet:(
We enjoyed dinner at Chevy's very much. Good food, good service
Took a long time to be seated even with our reservations and a took a long time to get order. The waitress was great!
Made a reservation for dinner on Cinco de Mayo...traffic getting into Santa Rosa was really difficult due to a truck parade backing up traffic west of 101. We got to the restaurant on time...went to the front desk...game my name...host said they'd seat us in five minutes. He came over in two minutes and said our table was waiting. It was party nite with a loud and happy crowd...the food, as always, was great...and because of the holiday, we all got big Chevy's Sombreros to wear home. It was a delicious and fun festive evening...will be back...very soon.
The chevys in our area closed years ago. It was great to have the same chips and salsa. Plus the corn maze every meal comes with took us back. Our server Luis was very quick and attentive. The food definitely took us back to when we went to chevys all the time.
Slow help act like they don't want to work. Expensive food for what you get. Paper straws yuck gross will leave residue in cups, dirty especially with the Corona Virus!!! Took down all the cool decorations now all you see is wires and stuff bad choice on who part to redecorate. Go back to the old Chevys.
Absolutely terrible service, took 35 minutes to get one appetizer and the drinks took forever. Our server was nowhere to be found the majority of the evening.
Nice place for couple dining out or small family. Atmosphere is a combination of sports bar and fine mexican food, leaving you with a friendly and tasty memory.
Food was fresh and as tasty as ever, combined with a polite and efficient staff. The reason for only 3 stars is due to the waitress we had who was a bit distracted during our time, resulting in long waits between her appearances.
Great caring staff
Service . The food I had was great. Fun place to go. Very relaxed atmosphere!
It has been a long time since we have ate at Chevy's. Disappointed that you did not have the chimichanga anymore but the shrimp & crab enchilada was very good. Not as spicy as I thought it would be. My husband also enjoyed is taco meal that he had. The best was the strawberry margaritas! Will definitely return as we did not know you were reserving outside dining. Also have passed the word to our friends as well who were also surprised that you were serving more than takeout.
The food was cold to the touch. We sent it back immediately. 10 minutes passsed and it came back. Unbelievable it's still cold. We said the hell with it and just ate it. Don't know what was wrong that day at Chevy's???
Normally, the service and food at Chevy’s are just ok (sometimes terrible). But on this particular occasion, I was very happy with my overall experience. Our waitress was super nice, prompt and attentive. I was really impressed with their outdoor covid dining setup (it was a little chilly, but they had heaters going, so it seemed reasonable). The food was decent; I always love their flautas, and chips n salsa. Their fajitas were ok; the steak was a little tough/cut improperly/against the grain. My son loved the chicken tacos. Overall a great experience and a special treat for us since we rarely eat out these days! Oh and margaritas!
Server was taking forever to help us and bring our food
The music was loud pop, not contributing to a very good atmosphere. Mexican music would have been much better.
I made my reservations on line, received a confirmation of reservation, HOWEVER, after traveling 1 hour, arrive at Chevy's and it is take out only !!! Apparently all of Sonoma County was take out only. This should have been indicated on the on line reservation.
Always a delight to go to Chevy's in Santa Rosa...especially during this Pandemic...We have been sitting out on their patio with a nice breeze blowing through. Other customers are spaced appropriately...The waitstaff is great and we always feel welcome.
Beautiful evening to eat outdoors, and the service was great!
I think of all the restaurants in Santa Rosa Chevy's does the best dealing with Covid-19 and the strict rules while still trying their best to make it an enjoyable experience. When it got cold out they even have heaters to take the chill off. We will continue dining with Chevys for their great service in such a trying time :)
This was the first time we went out to eat since sheltering in place and picked Chevy’s because that was always our go-to date night spot. We never had a bad experience but this time was different.
We were seated in an area where the sun was blazing directly in our eyes but were told it wasn’t possible to pull the shade down.
The food took forever to finally come out and when it did, it was about half the portion size it was before SIP. My salad was even missing ingredients that were supposed to come with it as listed on the menu.
My husband tried to order a beer and three of his choices were out so he settled for his fourth. When we finished our food, our waitress was nowhere to be found so we sat in the glaring sun and sweat until finally flagging her down.
Things have definitely changed. Such a bummer.
The music was too loud, our waiter did not understand english and my steak & shrimp came out as fajitas. Ate it and smiled.
The patio seating was clean and very comfortable. Service, food & mixed drinks were both consistently excellent.
