Dinner: Tuesday - Saturday: 5:30pm - 10:00pm
Nice ambiance, great drinks (get the gimlet!!). Had the tasting menu which was quite nice, but not exceptional. Some really nice items (lemon oil ceviche, duck roll bites, beef cheek), value ok. Great service.
A very good restaurant, though my expectations were slightly overhyped by previous reviews. At the time of our dinner, the ratings had this restaurant at 4.6 stars, one of the highest ratings in all of Montreal. I found several of the dishes, while good, did not quite meet the level implied by such a high rating. It was notable that the four-course tasting menu (CAD$80) and accompanying wine flight (CAD$45) were a good value. Total for four tasting menus, including two drinks and one wine flight was around CAD$500. I would happily eat here again.
Excellent food and service. Fifth time there...always outstanding. They can also serve a group of twenty seamlessly, something I hosted with my Board of Directors...and the whole menu was available unlike many restaurants that try to trim the menu availability! Also, very good selection of wines at reasonable prices.
Outstanding service and food. A real gem.
Best restaurant in Montreal for me, it was excellent.
Food was fantastic. Wine list needs some work, too many pages with not enough wines per page. Hard to find what you're looking for. Other than that, great place.
Excellente nourriture, belle présentation et service impeccable.
Meilleur lunch depuis longtemps.
The food was really exceptional! Although we were 15 minutes late, the staff was very polite and made things go very smoothly. My only remark would be that the waiting time between the appetisers and the main course was too long.
The desert made up for that little inconvenience!
Outstanding meal and an even better service. Never disappointed at Chez Sophie.
Wow! So good! Sent for my birthday with aime friends.
Service is outstanding. Did the tasting menu where you get to choose 1 starters, 2 main (half portion) and a dessert. Every bite was so enjoyable. I took the wine pairing as well and all wine pairings were very good. A great night!
AMAZING. One of the best meals we've had as a family in Montreal. Compared to the big names (Joe beef, toqué, Pied du Cochon, Damas, etc) Chez Sophie more than holds it own. The starters and mains are just superb. Words don't do this place justice. Every person at the table thought their meal was the best. The ravioli lobster bisque, the Black cod, the beef cheeks and the duck is what we had, and they were all out of this world delicious. Was a slow and great meal. It's expensive and worth every penny. For the price I would go back, over pay and leave happy.
Most of the food was very good and some of it was outstanding (sushi appetizer and the scallop main course). The crust of the perfect egg is too heavy (greasy) and overwhelms the other delicate flavours. The veal main course was good and the miso black cod was very good -- I was expecting to get blown away by most everything on the menu so I walked away thinking that we had a very good meal, but not outstanding. There are better restaurants charging similar prices that are better in the same neighbourhood.
Amazing food! Great service but the kitchen is very slow. It takes too long from one plate to the next.
The food was Very good but get ready to pay top dollar! A little overpriced but good for a special occasion.
Delicious and very fresh, a restaurant I will absolutely go back to.
Chez Sophie is a lovely restaurant.
The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The menu was varied and interesting. We had a delicious meal and a wonderful time at Chez Sophie.
We had a very tasty diner. All of us (5) had different entrees and main dishes and we enjoyed them a lot. And the pistachio millefeuilles was amazing. Very good advices on the wines pairing aswell. It has been a wonderfull diner.
Excellent food and food choices with very attentive service. An experience!
Excellent meal and service. Quality of food exceptional. Well done chef.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening here. We had the tasting menu & wine pairings. Each course was delicious, the wines were unusual and paired perfectly with the courses. Service was professional, well informed and friendly without being intrusive. The staff was flawlessly bilingual.
Everything was very good but it is expensive
The cuisine in this restaurant is worth the money, time and effort. I went with my family (husband and 2 teenagers) and everything greatly exceeded our expectations. The place was pretty empty when we arrived and people slowly began to arrive. Our reservation was at 6.30pm. It is difficult to have good opinions from picky teenagers and they both loved the veal carpaccio and the fish and meat. We aldo ordered the fois grass and the dourade carpaccio, which was superbe. Chez Sophie is worth the visit when in Montreal.
Saturday, July 14, 2018. Wow!! From the second we openned the door, they took care of everything! Even brought a little mini bench for my purse! From the bartender that comes up to the table to explain the special drinks they have, which are amazing by the way, to the waiter who explained and answered all of our questions, and he knows his stuff! We took the menu "dégustation" with the complementing wine! Perfection! I had the salmon gravlax with avocado: magic in your mouth. Then the scallops which were cooked to perfection. Second entrée was lobster and duck... never would of thought of matching those two but the flavors were out of this world and the dessert, a pistachio pastry with dark chocolate ice cream.... heavenly! Last time i was in a restaurant of that categorie, was at Jerome Ferrer's Europea. Watch out Jerome! Sophie is there to stay! And her flavors are simply amazing. It's like magic in your mouth! The restaurant is also very beautyful, decorated with finesse and very relaxing environment. And to top it off, they finish your evening by walking you out and holding the door before they say goodnight ! Wonderful! You have to try this restaurant. You'll go back for sure!
Hidden jewel in Montreal. A bit away from downtown in an unsuspecting neighborhood but ended up being an pleasant surprise with outstanding dishes and wine selections. Glad we found this restaurant and will be coming back for more when we visit Montreal next time.
Everything was just excellent. On the dish, the service, the visual.
Excellent dinner and food with a customer. The atmosphere on the terrace was fantastic.
Second time dining there.
Still loved it! Would recommend to friends.
Always charming gastro-chic food yet the service is relying heavily on humans. They love to provide advice and are passionate about their menu. It's my favourite restaurant in St-Henri.
Superb presentation of perfectly sized and crafted dishes. The menu degustation format was ideal, everyone got to choose something different and the wine pairings were also excellent and individually tailored to each person's dish. A definite repeat for a lovely dinner out.
It is one of the best restaurants in Montreal and compares favourably with Michelin starred restaurants in Paris
