La chef Sophie Tabet, il y a environ dix ans, quitta Montréal pour la France afin d’y suivre des cours au prestigieux Institut Paul Bocuse. Elle travailla dans de nombreux restaurants étoilés en Europe tels que L’Astrance à Paris (3 étoiles Michelin) ou encore au Dal Pascatore en Italie (Relais & Château, 3 étoiles Michelin). En 2010, elle se voit décerner le prix du chef de l’avenir et du meilleur restaurant par l’Académie Internationale de la Gastronomie.
C’est lors de son passage en Italie qu’elle rencontra son mari, Marco Marangi, expert sommelier. Ayant à son tour cumulé plusieurs expériences en gastronomie,

    Chez Sophie is closed permanently! We did not find this out until we arrived at the restaurant and found it shuttered. The restaurant should be taken off the reservation system.

    It took 20 minutes to order our drinks and then another 30 to receive them. We did not get menus for over an hour. The food was delicious but there are only 4 main courses from which to choose. Food was very good, but will not be going back

    Menu cinq services délicieux. Possibilité de remplacer un plat pour un autre, ce qui fût très apprécié. Certes, les prix sont légèrement supérieurs par rapport à d’autres tables semblables… manque légèrement d’ambiance. Une musique aurait été apprécié.

    I found the service a little disorganized, we asked twice for bread and we did not get it, we thought that the young server lacked maturity, insight and follow up of its table and where they are. I am ready to pay a fair amount for my food with friends but I want a spotless service, knowledgable, friendly, discrete.... to be ahead of the clients needs.

    La nourriture est excellente, le service moyen, ne nous a pas proposé de vin au verre, ne nous a pas proposé un changement de plat dans le menu dégustation. Le prix du choix de vin est trop élevé vu les quantités servies .

    Chez Sophie is a restaurant of exception , the food is outstanding creative ,fresh made with local ingredients, and a beauty for the eye , served with excellence . It goes without saying that the prices follow. For any special occasion it is the place to go the terrace is small and pretty make reservation for outside it is worth the trip .

    We had the degustation menu. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Our favourite dish was the lobster ravioli paired with a rosé. Our waiter was tremendous. He was happy and helpful. Thank for a wonderful night.

    le cadre du restaurant ne rend pas hommage à votre excellent menu. Le cadre est loin d'un restaurant costume et robe de soirée. c'est du standard. La table pas possible pour un diner à 800$. Vous pouvez mieux faire. vous avez déjà une excellente carte. Revoyez votre décor svp.

    We had an amazing night. Food and wine pairing is totally something you want to experience there. Found the wine pairing cost expensive compared to the food cost but overall, it is a place you want to go back to.

    Très bon restaurant mais vraiment trop bruyant Ce n’est pas un restaurant pour une sortie en amoureux . C’est à qui parlera le plus fort. Il aurait intérêt à travailler l’acoustique. Dommage la nourriture est très bonne.

    The food and service here was top notch. Our 12 yo daughter was with us, and they had kid friendly food options available. Very family friendly, which isn’t typical of most fine dining restaurants.

    Chez Sophie is expensive, but if you could get past that, it does not disappoint. Food was exceptional, everything from the home made butter to the main courses were beyond delicious, service was impeccable. A real treat & wonderful evening!

    Dined at 5 higher end restaurants while in Montreal. This restaurant ranked #3. Our #1 pick for French food was to Bonaparte. Excellent food, thank you chef. Great tasting menu, drinks and wine selection. Misses: not in a good location, wait staff pretentious, no diversity in service staff, staff opened back patio door and remained ajar, and the flies came roaring in. Our final bill came in at $850 Canadian for a party of 2. Simply did not check all boxes for this level of dining experience.

    C’est simple, on a tout aimé : l’accueil, la terrasse (même si un peu de bruit au début mais cela n’a pas duré), le personnel au petit soin et souriant et la qualité des plats (beurrâtes et crevette et entrée, bar et bœuf en plat + le millefeuille en dessert). Première fois et on va le conseiller à beaucoup de monde !

    While the food was outstanding, our 5-course degustation menu took 3 hours. Staff consistently seemed frustrated with us even though we never complained and were polite. No mention was ever made of the slow service even though the amuse bouche took over an hour to arrive.

    L'entrée d’œuf croustillant aux champignons était délicieuse, un régal, la même chose pour la burrata au caramel de betterave de mon conjoint. Mais mon plat de bar à la plancha était très décevant, ne goûtait rien, le poisson était de qualité, mais à 60$ le plat, on s'attend à une portion plus importante qu'un mince filet et 4 asperges. Mon conjoint a pris les pétoncles, plat aussi décevant, les pétoncles de taille moyenne à petite et encore une fois, pour 60$ le plat, on s'attend à mieux et mieux apprêté, plus de saveurs. Le sommelier nous a par contre conseillé un excellent vin. Une belle découverte,
