Chi Modern Vietnamese Kitchen
Decent place with decent food, and friendly staff. Had higher expectations with the ambiance they set. Also make sure you double check the dietary restriction items on the menu with you server, as we ordered the 4 items with a Vegetarian symbol, but one of them came out with pork.
Wonderful, flavourful take on Vietnamese cuisine! The papaya salad with beef was one of the tastiest dishes I’ve had in any SE Asian restaurant in Vancouver ever. Please keep up what you’re doing!
The cocktails are delicious and they p air very well with the food. The flavour in the food is consistently amazing.
Not so many choices for lunch! Only one server for whole restaurant, not enough!we want to ask for something but she cant take care for us! Will not go back!
Stopped in for dinner after shopping on 4th Avenue. Friendly team of staff members greeted and seated us right away. Enjoyed the duck and vegetable crispy spring rolls. Shaken beef was also outstanding. Would definitely come back.
Great place for interesting updates on Vietnamese food. Every dish so far has been a winner — particularly the crispy duck rolls and the pork belly. Fair prices and friendly, efficient wait staff. Also a very nice room/atmosphere.
Everything was delicious and perfect. It is such a lovely place and our guest from Paris was mightily impressed. As were the hosts!
Loved the pho, it was obviously slow simmered and the broth was the best I have ever tried in Vancouver. Will be back soon. Loved the service and ambience
Loved the food and decor and service, we had the crispy spring rolls. Ginger wavy and chicken glass noodle soup and they both tasted wonderful with many different notes of flavor that every bite was a new experience.
Went here with my wife and we came during a very busy lunch but the food was amazing and service was very fast and accommodating. Will be back!
Vietnamese foods with a twist. Price is on the high side.
Would highly recommend. Service was top notch and friendly and we had a lovely time and he food was amazing. Listen to your servers they will ice you great suggestions and ask for specials.
Enjoyed the food although dishes were on the small side.
Our server for the evening needs to be more diplomatic towards the
guests. One of the guests asked him to explain the menu, he replied
in a rather abrupt and an impatient manner, "I am not very good at multi-tasking,"
instead of responding in a pleasant manner that he would do so.
First time came here, service is great, food taste very good. Really enjoy them. Young Coconut taste fresh, I really like it :)
Exquisite as always! Don't be scared to say hi to the chef as well, she is very friendly and knowledgeable and we will be taking classes from her very soon!
Great place to be on West 4th! Large room with a modern Vietnamese atmosphere. Everything was well laid out and this is a huge step up from any other Vietnamese restaurant we have been to. Dishes and service was amazing and I can't really say anything else. Everyone comparing this place to other Vietnamese restaurants have to get back to reality because this isn't your average Vietnamese food fare.
What we ordered:
Sable fish with noodles
Duck in curry
Waygu w/ noodles
The rolls were nice. It's a hybrid of a salad and spring roll.
Sable fish was cooked just right.
Duck in curry: the curry could be spicier and the duck can use slightly less cooking
Wagyu beef noodles - seasoning was perfect. TBH I couldn't tell that it was wagyu or not, as I don't normally have wagyu w/ stir-fried noodles.
Food's flavor was too strong - too salty or too sweet. Price points were on the high side. Service was somewhat slow and not as attentive.
Loved the food and environment. Patio was open and it was gorgeous. Will be back soon! Shaken beef and Cha Ca La Vong are must tries. We were also sitting next to Trevor Linden!! How cool.
Great Restaurant, Attentive service and vibrant atmosphere. Food was wonderful as always! Thank you chef Chi for this gem
Loved it! Shaken beef was out of this world and the rolls and eggplant too, the servers recommended one appetizer and one entree dish which we found to be a great amount plus a little more if you really wanted their dessert, which are fabulous btw, all homemade.
Outstanding! Will be back with friends and family very shortly.
Love the food and service, quite different from your average Vietnamese restaurant in all of the best ways. Loved the food and lunch was spectacular. Pho was nice and rich and the tofu bowl was out of this world. Will be back with a bigger party! Which is also great for this restaruant as well.
Great wine list and selection, make sure you ask about wines on their reserve list, they have many of them. Great food as well as they accompany the wine very nicely. Will be back.
Great atmosphere and drinks! Asked our server to make us an Old-Fashioned and a Mojito both turned out surprisingly really good! Loved it will be back
Great service, outstanding atmosphere, worth every penny.
Loved it, great flavors, awesome decor and service.
Astounding food and fair price! Love everything about this place and the service was top notch too, will be back soon. Was reading a couple reviews below as well and a lof of them seem to not know what they're talking about. But oh well I guess they're better off eating lesser quality food with a lesser atmosphere and service. Will be back soon.
Had lunch there the other day and was amazed by the quality of the food and decent price of the food! Way cheaper than Maenam or fable for way better ingredients, don't mind paying a couple dollars more for Vietnamese cuisine with such great everything.
Outstanding food and Service! will be back soon, lovely atmosphere and great wine list too. We ordered a bottle of the Pinot noir and had it served alongside the Duck Rolls, Shaken beef and Chicken claypot. Great Combo! Will be back shortly.
Great food and service! Came in on Tuesday and the place was nice and vibrant! They have a beautiful place with a gorgeous patio seating arrangement and we loved the rolls, shaken beef, fried rice and the sablefish claypot. Will be back soon and I highly recommend this place.
Nice atmosphere and good food, highly reccomend :)
Food was amazing. I don't understand why everyone keeps complaining about the price, the food is locally sourced and line caught and free range. People should seriously be getting a life, if you want cheap Vietnamese food there are many places on Kingsway which will suit your needs with dirty washrooms, poor service and not in a great neighbourhood. Hate seeing a restaurant like this being put down but I had to get that out there. Will be back with my wife shortly to enjoy more innovative Vietnamese cuisine!
Dined here by myself on a Tuesday. Service was very personable and I loved the food. Great find and one of the best restaurants in Kits
The food here is definitely very tasty but the service is absolutely atrocious. We had a table for 4. My partner and I arrived later than the first 2 guests. The waitress did not come over to welcome us or take an order for 20-30 minutes. She eventually came over as she was prompted to do so and even then didn't think to ask us for our drink order. The restaurant was not busy so I dread to think what the service is like when it is! The food here is good but there are so many great options in Vancouver with far better service.
Amazing food. It was dinner time on a Saturday and the place doesn't particularly look busy. Food is outstanding and you can't find anywhere else. Price point is a little steep. service is shortstaffed (2 girls to cover the whole place). I hope they will work on getting more staff
Food is good. A bit pricey for what you get. Duck roll was pretty yummy. The sablefish claypot we ordered was a bit on the spicy side to my liking, bit too saucy and salty. I think they should state on the menu whether the dish is spicy or not. It'll help customer who doesn't like spicy food to know what they are getting. Coconut rice was too hard, not steamed well or it's been left out for awhile before it was served.
Food was tasty but portion sizes very small for the price. The service was good. Found this place to be more expensive than indicated on site.
The Sablefish Claypot was so good, we could order 2 more. The Sticky Tamarind Wings was a winner. Service was top notched.
