Heralded as a "meat speakeasy" by Food & Wine Magazine, chi SPACCA has come to represent the quintessential new Italian dining experience, where accompaniments like the Foccacia di Recco, warm salted Medjool dates, and Culatello & Puglia burrata are just sideshows for the rest of Chef Armen Ayvazyan's wood-fired menu which features a 42-ounce Tomahawk pork chop, a 36-ounce dry-aged bone-in New York Costata alla Fiorentina, and a 50-ounce dry-aged porterhouse Bistecca Fiorentina.

Enchanted by the artistry of Italian salumi culture, we built the first “dry cure” program in Los Angeles so that we could experiment and perfect Italian charcuterie techniques in house.

    The steak was good quality but wayyy undercooked, and wayyy under seasoned, most of the ounces that they state came from the large bone, very overpriced for what you get. The “focaccia” hardly had any taste. To be honest it tasted just like matzah with olive oil and mozzarella lol. The potato leek and cheese pie was good. Those 3 dishes and a glass of wine was $400. lol. Was very excited to try this place, but will probably go to so many others in LA for the next special occasion

    Hits were the focaccia, broccolini, steak, and onion rings, but the misses were very underwhelming, which included the tomahawk pork chop (all fat basically, dry chicken, and unseasoned mashed potatoes. Very expensive for what we got, I think the late reservation played a role in the quality. I had a good experience at Osteria Mozza, but chi spacca is a miss for me.

    You don’t go here for value, you go here for the good food and will surely pay for it. Everything is delicious and is shared on the table. I recommend to go with groups of 4 to 6. This way you get to try out more of the menu. The pork roast is exceptional but sometimes they pull it off the menu and add a pork tomahawk which is good to but the pork roast is amazing. Service is always top notch. Bon appetite!

    There are few intimate ambient places in LA and this is the best. Everything is delicious and perfectly paired no matter what you order. Daniel is very knowledgeable and an excellent listener to your taste of wine. Our go to for special occasions and for giving guests a meal to remember.

    Regrettably we didn’t preview the menu before booking. Our favorite Mozzo was booked and Opentable sent us to Spacca. Disappointing limited menu. The beef ribs tough and fatty cooked “Korean style”. The roast chicken was nothing special. Zero appealing ambiance sitting on the “patio”. It’s the storefront sidewalk! Overall blah overpriced food. No where near the standard of Mozzo next door.

    Awesome steak on the bone. Enough for 4 people. Mashed potatoes are the best. And the Focaccia was one of the best things I ever eaten. Seriously. Thin flaky crust with melted cheese. Really that and a salad would have been enough. Didn’t love the broccolini.

    Told them I was pregnant and asked about the steak temps. They said they’d bring it out as medium rare and cook the pieces that I chose from it as well done - my husband was having the rest medium rare. It took 90+ minutes for our steak to come out and another 10 minutes to cook my few pieces (one of them still had pink inside and I couldn’t eat it)… all while they kept telling me “it’s almost out” “it’s being plated” “it’ll be here soon” over and over. The manager showed 0 concern about us waiting almost 2 hours to eat our steak and our waitress straight up gave our table away to another waiter cause she was so embarrassed after lying to us about the timing of the food so many times. They gave us free ice cream to go LOL. Thanks. You ruined my anniversary, my experience, took hundreds of dollars to make us wait almost 2 hours and your apology was some ice cream. Terrible.

We are so sorry that yours ended up taking a bit longer than this on Friday night. We are quite sad to hear your expectations were not met, or set in advance properly by our staff. Since you had departed earlier than your guest who expressed that he enjoyed the food, we wanted to acknowledge your patience by sending you home with some dessert.     Mozza Group ceases to amaze me in the quality of product & service. The service is especially impressive - layers & layers of quality. The co hires first class staff. They’re not stuffy or unapproachable, but just supremely capable. You ask one of the secondary servers a question about the wine, and he shows remarkable depth of expertise. Amazing. Our primary server was exceptional. The wine director Henry made a cameo appearance at our table and shared some fun tidbits on our wine. Another unforgettable Mozza experience!

    Honestly wasn’t very impressed with how loud it was and the service was not good didn’t have anyone talk to us for the first 10-15 minutes. The food was not good and gagged when trying to eat it. Order the food we wanted and got asked questions that shouldn’t be necessary in a restaurant.

Additionally, Chef and I noticed that you ordered fairly light for a party of 5 guests, with just a focaccia, a Caesar salad and a side of mashed potatoes. We followed up by clarifying if anyone was a pescatarian because we decided to gift you a lamb sausage to show your table some extra love for what appeared to be a celebration.     You'll need valet parking in that section of Los Angeles. The food is superb and the portions are enough to satiate without edging into "generous," which in this case would be a negative connotation.

    Wonderful Italian Food with distinctive dishes! Summer Tomato salad was a simple but deliciously refreshing way to start the meal, the Milk roasted Pork Loin was a unique and tasty special and the Polenta Cake for dessert was a perfect end to the meal.
