    Incredibly knowledgeable staff and delicious, thoughtfully prepared menu. Our server did an excellent job navigating me through the gluten free options on the menu. Several tables have a beautiful view of the water. It was nice to have live piano music on site, but it was quite loud and made it a little difficult to hear the server and each other. Highly recommend to anyone staying on the island!

    The food was amazing and a very good wine list. Our server, Jocelyn, was very knowledgeable and helpful with wine and food suggestions. Very nice location in the mission point hotel. Quiet and a lovely view. If you are on Mackinac Island it’s definitely worth it for a special dinner.

    Beautiful setting! We really enjoyed our meal - presentation of the food was lovely, and very unique. The wine pairing was also very nice. Others have mentioned that the portion sizes are small - as is typical for a tasting menu - although maybe they were a little smaller than we've seen elsewhere. The aged ribeye was especially good, as was the shrimp for the first course.

    All I can say is Chianti is outstanding. The food was presented beautifully and as wonderful as it looked it tasted just as good. If I have a criticism, it would be the wine list. They did not have my first two requests. The server mentioned they were switching to the Summer menu and they were ordering appropriate wine. I will say the wine prices were much lower than most restaurants of the this quality. Look past the $125 prix fix because it is worth it.

    A real gem. The food held its own against the many Michelin-started places I have been to in cities like Barcelona and San Francisco. That said, it was easy for everyone to find something to suit their palette. The service was white-tablecloth style. All of this is to say it was above and beyond what we would expect on a remote island.

    I  dined here solo on a Saturday evening. The food was presented well, but the portions were extremely small. It all tasted good, but I left hungry. I knew to expect that it would be high quality food. Most of the food was sourced locally—farm to table. I did appreciate knowing this. I was disappointed, though that there was no handicapped entrance to the restaurant. I had to navigate stairs. There was not a handicapped accessible restroom close to the restaurant, either. As a solo diner, I felt very much ignored throughout the meal. My server dropped off my food and quickly described each course, but that was the extent of his friendliness. He would then go chat and laugh with other tables. This was not a pleasant experience. I had hoped to have. Sadly, I will not be back.

    A truly hidden gem on the Island. What a fabulous experience and a tremendously enjoyable evening this was! Excellent food and amazing presentation. Definitely surpassed all of our expectations. A five course meal and when I was asked which one was my favorite I honestly found every course delicious and beautiful. Complements to the chef and staff. Job well done!

    Our evening spent at this restaurant was enchanting. Each course pushed the boundaries of being visually appealing while the taste was outstanding. One of the best 2 hours I have spent dinning. The piano being played in the background added to a romantic setting. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

    We had an amazing experience. We were guests of the hotel. Our view was wonderful and there was relaxing and romantic live piano music that was excellent. They have a pre fix menu that we thoroughly enjoyed with the wine pairing. Our server Simon was very attentive and did a wonderful job. I particularly enjoyed the Caesar and the beef short rib. Each course I selected was very delicious but these were my two favorites. I would highly recommend this for a romantic dinner.

    We had a wonderful dining experience and a terrific evening! The live music (pianist David Jasmund) played wonderfully, at the perfect volume and hit the mood for his audience! The waitstaff were well informed on the menu and wine list. The food itself was stellar and wonderfully prepared! It was paced perfectly, just as if we were back in Italy. The food wasn't rushed and when we asked for something extra, the server accommodated us with a smile. I can't recall a better dining experience on Mackinac Island. I was surprised, especially after having lived in Italy for nearly a decade. Also, we enjoyed the setting in the dining area as being spacious and inviting. I love all the wood beams and the fact we had ample space. Although we were a pair of friends, it would be terrific for romantic couples as well. Highly recommend!

    Inspired and creative menu. Delicious meal. We dined on the terrace overlooking the water, very beautiful view. Wonderful service with formal plating for each of the four courses plus dessert. Chef came out to greet us and make sure we were happy, which we were!

    We visited Chianti for our Anniversary without knowing much about it. What a marvelous find. The food was fabulous, the service excellent and the live pianist made the ambiance perfect. We can’t extol the virtues of Chianti enough.

    I spent 3 days on the island and ate at the best restaurants, and this meal was the best by far. I didn’t eat at Grand Hotel because it was closed for a conference. I did eat there many years ago and wasn’t overly impressed. Flavor—wonderful combinations of flavors and textures. I also had the wine pairing which was perfect. Presentation—beautifully plated, unique Caesar salad and apple pie, on par with the best restaurants. Service—friendly, efficient, not overbearing. Waiter Basil was great. They even introduced me to one of the chefs when they saw how much I was enjoying the meal. Ambiance—spacious dining room but still warm and cozy. Live piano music. Beautiful view of Lake Huron. Very romantic. Value—When you add up the quality of the food, service, ambiance, and location, the price is very reasonable! I’ve eaten at 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants that I didn’t enjoy as much. This meal was definitely one of the best I’ve had in quite a while.

    Food here is wonderful and very consistent. Love the staff -- so friendly and fun. It feels like family at Chianti, no matter how busy it is. I had the butternut squash ravioli with butter sage sauce, which was fantastic. And the calamari here is the best in the area. If you haven't been here, go. And go back. And save a seat for me. :)

    We went to Chianti last year & had a fabulous server & great food. We were so disappointed this year. The service was very slow, table was never cleared with dirty dishes & it took a long time to get our drinks. The ribeye my husband ordered was not nearly as thick & good as quality as last year. Unfortunately the service really was so Inadequate for a fine done restaurant that we will not go back.
