   The pork verde and fish dish were 10/10, we were outside on the patio with our dog and got sat in a busy walkway & it was very loud but otherwise our experience was phenomenal.

   This is not your standard Mexican food. They definitely kick it up a notch in terms the presentation and unique offerings. We would definitely dine here again when visiting Phoenix.

   The Birria was different than any I’d had before, wetted in a strong bbq sauce, not what I was accustomed to with which is an au jus sort of “sauce”. There was about 3x more beef that tortillas so I don’t rate this presentation very highly…

   We were seated immediately. I asked for a standard table during my reservation and they honored that request. Service was friendly. Food and drinks exceeded my expectations. Look forward to returning.

    My husband and I had a date night here on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away and the service was great. The portions of food were large enough that we shared several smaller plates with an entre of the Pork Verde. The meat was so tender that it came off the bone with a gentle pull with a fork. The street corn was sweet and it was balanced perfectly with the slightly spicy and salty tajin. The guacamole was dotted with pomegranate seeds and was very fresh. The Puerco Beans complimented the Verde Pork perfectly. We will definitely we back again soon.

    My 2nd time here and a little disappointing. The service, as always, very attentive and great ambiance. Music is always upbeat and fun. The food was not as good as I remember. My tacos came out with 2 poorly sliced radishes and lots of coleslaw? Lots of meat and only 3 small tortillas. Drinks always taste great. 1 star for the food and everything else a 5 ⭐️

    I went with a group of friends on Cinco de Mayo and we had a great experience! The manager, Alex, accommodated our request to sit near the TV so we could cheer on the Suns and he went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing experience, and made my friend’s birthday extra special! Our server, Amanda, was great also! The food and drinks were delish, would definitely recommend this place!

    My wife and I went for date night last week during happy hour. The happy hour options are limited and the appetizers portions were pretty small. The waitress who was serving us was barely wearing a shirt. The food was good but pretty pricey. It was still fun but we probably will stick to our other favorite places.

    Food was decent but not exciting. Their homemade tortillas were yummy. Margaritas tasty but glass was too sticky to touch. Server friendly but service was a little slow. We could see our beer sitting on the bar for a long time. When delivered it was warm and server said it was bartenders fault it took so long. Then she left the table dirty, only clearing a few dishes when we were finished eating. That made it uncomfortable to relax and made us leave quickly, when our intention was to finish our drinks. It’s unlikely we’d go back.

    This place is a great spot to get dinner and drinks for events, concerts, or sporting games in downtown Phoenix. Chico Malo is centrally located within walking distance to most spots in downtown. The ambiance of the restaurant is awesome and the food/drink menu is delicious. Would definitely recommend.

    Family gathering , kinda sucked for a group of 13 only had one server. Presentation of meal was nice but definitely need more flavor and meat. Seems 1 steak was used to feed everyone that asked for carne asada fries.

    Our waiters were exceptional! Amanda and Justin were great. Amanda took our order after I told her we had a play to get to. She informed us that Justin was our waiter and she was happy to help since we were in a hurry. Justin was as engaging and personable as she. We were served quickly. The prime rib was good and the sauces were amazing. It came with fried brussel sprouts but that was a sprinkling like a garnish. The downside, there was alot of fat. The Ceasar salad was OK but it tasted more like a onion chopped salad, there was a lot of red onion, A LOT! If I were to order again I would definitely ask to hold the onion. Boo’s pork shank with green chili was delicious as was the tortillas. Our drinks were good too. We wanted to try this place since it’s a sister restaurant to one of our favorites, Wren and Wolf. The ambiance at Chico Malo is more casual. Both places have great DJ’s! We had reservations and were seated promptly!

    The vibe was busy, typical for a Saturday night. We had a group of 14 and a few of us ordered the Smoked Birria. It was very salty and we didn’t finish our food. The drinks wasnt great either. The rest of the group ordered different meals and were satisfied with there food. I wouldn’t be coming back to this restaurant.

    It was fine, nothing spectacular. Just a casual vibe. The tables were a little crowded. We had a two top right in the middle of 2 four tops so there wasn’t much personal space. The server was super nice and friendly. The food came out timely, I didn’t enjoy the relleno but I think it was just personal taste.
