We shared a Kung Pao Chicken, Kung Pao Beef and a Vegetable Fried Rice. We thought the food was delicious and the tea was a calming treat after a hectic day. The staff were warm and welcoming. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Enjoy!
Our server was very helpful as it was our first time at the restaurant and we weren’t sure how some of the items on the menu could be ordered. The price was very reasonable and the food came out in a reasonable time. The portions are a good size. I would highly recommend this restaurant .
Very friendly staff. quick service, great menu choices, nice atmosphere and excellent food quality.
Hands down one of the best dim sum restaurants that we have ever been to. My wife and I just moved back to the region from a long period in Vancouver where dim sum is a great brunch experience. Both of us were craving some Shanghai dumplings and had yet to find a place local that had the same quality we were used to. Chili Jiao did not disappoint.
If you are looking for a great experience or just a nice chill brunch, this is the place to go. We will be frequenting this place from now on.
Food was generally good but cold.
A little pricy for portion size
We had the Spinach Chicken Dumplings dim sum, Kung Pao chicken and Stir-fried Noodles w/ beef and it was all delicious. Service was excellent and the manager was very friendly and we even had a nice conversation with him. Very pleased with the whole experience and I would definitely recommend trying a variety of dishes.
Great service! Great food!
I’ve ordered take out quite a few times and the food was really good. I went to dine in for the weekend brunch and was very surprised by the selection of food at the buffet (8-10 items), and the all you can eat fresh dim sum (Har Kow, Siu Mai, Steamed bbq pork buns, Chicken feet, Fried spring rolls and shrimp wonton, Chicken and spinach dumpling, Pan fried dumplings, Steamed and fried Chinese Mantou with condensed milk, Fresh Chinese almond cookies, and the Little Rabbit dessert with egg/milk custard in the centre. Definitely good value for money, considering you’d be paying $5-$9 for one order of dim sum at any other dim sum place. I started at the buffet and then the server rolled a hot steaming cart over with dim sum- be patient and inquire when the dim sum will come out. They also don’t charge you $6.99 for a pot of tea (like some local St. Catharines Chinese restaurants- for example, MA Chinese restaurant). Chili Jiao (following the same practice of pretty much all Chinese restaurants in general) will provide you with a good quality tea to accompany your meal at no extra cost. Service was excellent, and I felt that the server was very nice and tried to accomodate to any requests, if possible. I would definitely return with family and friends!
Excellent customer service and variety of food choices.
Dim sum brunch was amazing ! Highly recommended, will come again.
Excellent food and service! Wonderful selection of outstanding food choices at Sunday buffet and Dim Sum cart.
Wanted to have a quiet discussion. And we were able to
The food was excellent as always. The ambience is off putting.
The lighting is too bright and ruins the ambience. Candles on the tables would really help too...to create a more intimate dining experience.
Service was good.
We were recommend by a friend to try this. The food was great and dim sum was fantastic. Staff go overboard to make your experience one to remember.
I really like this place. The food is always fresh and the service is outstanding. The staff works very hard to ensure a great dining experience.
Four women spent a quiet noon-hour luncheon at Chilli Jiao yesterday. Our server was excellent, explaining patiently, the ordering process and making friendly but not overly aggressive suggestions for our meal. The luncheon special, at $15.99 was good value as was Dim Sum at $1.00 per piece.
We'll certainly be back.
The food was nothing special. Although the dim sum was good, if we went back we’d go back for the dim sum.
Food was amazing!
What a delightful find! Can not say enough about the flavours in our dim sum and soup. Highly recommend!!!
Great informative server.
We had a great time and learned many things about Chinese food that we didn’t know! Thursday night is Dim sum night and it was delicious. We also tried the stir fried organic chicken - three peppers 🌶 And Kung Pao Pork. All was perfectly done and the Cave Spring Riesling was a perfect match to the spice!
The Sunday brunch buffet is the best kept secret in town. Nobody knows about it, but truly outstanding dim sum.
Staff is super friendly. Executive chef comes out often to chat.
We have been there several times - always excellent service and food.
Authentic fresh Szechuan and dim sum. Well priced and friendly. Well worth the trip.
We visited Chili Jiao for a pre-theatre dinner on a Friday evening and had dim sum and hot and sour soup. The dumplings, which are made on site by a chef from Sichuan Province, were wonderful, as was the hearty soup. Our server made wonderful suggestions about the menu and shared with us some of the customs related to dim sum in his home province. We'll definitely visit again when we're in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Pricey, average food with poor service and average ambiance.
Would rather drive to St. Catharines or Niagara Falls for a better experience.
Surprised if it makes it until next summer
Great Sichuan food, friendly staff.
Great service by Jenny
As NOTL residents my wife and i will go back even with our kids
I find the menu extremely spicy hot. We told them to make it not too spicy hot (menu has 3 pepper icons for very spicy hot) the equivalent of 1 pepper icon but still came very very spicy. Perhaps the menu should include an option for the dishes not too spicy for those that want to dine that cannot take too spicy hot food since the dishes in the menu were excellent (if they are not cooked extremely spicy..after the name of the restaurant with the chili prefix indicates spicy hot dishes, but again the option for people who want to eat not too spicy food should be included. I would rate the food excellent if it was milder and provide an option to either cooked not spicy hot, or very mild spicy.....
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friend's home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
This was our first visit and we came for dim sum. They did not disappoint! The dim sum was freshly made and totally delicious. Although we didn't try the other menu items, they looked very good and offering varying heat levels which was important. The atmosphere is very nice, very new and fresh. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends.
Great service (friendly, attentive and helpful) plus amazing food!
Our server was fantastic. The portions were a little
A very enjoyable and extremely tasty meal. A little expensive but worth the treat x
We were excited to see a restaurant offering authentic Szechuan cuisine and went on a Saturday evening.
It was underwhelming.
The Spinach chicken dumplings were the best thing we ate but not spectacular.
The rest of our meal was boring and uninspired. For Szechuan food, adding a chopped chili to the top of bland, does not make it special. We ordered the beef fried rice. It contained maybe 1 oz of overcooked beef and a smattering of frozen carrots, peas and corn; no depth of flavour at all. I have eaten in some of the best Szechuan restaurants in the country and this is not it.
2 dim sum dishes (dumplings - 7 pieces total), fried rice and eggplant dish with tea was $50. Nuts
We will not go back.
The server was fine, the table had stains on it and the water tasted like bleach.
Great addition to the NOTL restaurant scene. Great food and service. Will definitely go back for more.
My husband and I have now been here twice for dinner. It was exceptional! We have a BnB in town and will be highly recommending. Thank you!
Dim sum was good but pricey and VERY limited selection. Food was average as far as taste and portion size. We were not impressed with the tofu or hot and sour soup. Too much pepper tasting. Service was friendly and helpful and although it is new the restaurant was very clean and the bathrooms as well. I would recommend to try but not sure I would return any time soon as there are plenty of better Asian restaurants.
Great people. Great food.
Limited menu. Good dim sum. If you want less spicy say no spice not low spice. None of the dishes we tried would encourage me to return. Other alternatives would be Ma or Asian Legend. I encourage the owners and chef to work on menu this being their first few months. Great location. Wish them sucess.
I'll begin by saying that the food was very good, interesting and reasonably priced, particularly for this overpriced tourist area. This restaurant opened very recently, so the service is evolving and, we were told by locals, service is a challenge for most restaurants in the area due to seasonal issues. With a reservation, our group of 6 waited almost 1.5 hours for our first dish. Our appetizer arrived towards the end of our meal. On the plus side, the chef came to our table and apologized profusely for the delay and confusion. Their acknowledgement and concern made a big difference in how we felt when we left.
I would definitely return for a second try because I'm confident that they will get theses issues squared away and the food is worth it!
