First time, it was fabulous! Food, service and ambiance were wonderful. Went during restaurant week, loved it. Hubby had the short ribs and I had the shrimp Italiano, both were delicious. The spring salad has the most amazing dressing, best salad ever! Place was packed, seems to have a loyal following. We will be back.

My husband and I went here for our 25th wedding anniversary because I saw some ads on Instagram and the menu looked great. Let me tell you, I was so disappointed. I asked for a nice table because it was our anniversary and we were sat right next to a cold drafty window directly underneath an A/C vent which had us freezing from the get go. And we could barely hear each other talk because it was so loud. The waiter was pleasant but nothing spectacular. The best thing I had was the wine. Everything else was pretty bad for both of us. I started with the lump crabmeat appetizer which was just ok. The dipping roumoulade was good but too watery and the crab cake was very mushy and not much lump crab meat in it. My husband ordered a side of Mac n cheese as an appetizer and it was a big bowl of microwaved mush. Terrible! For entrees I had the blackened mahi-mahi which was overcooked. The taste was ok and it comes with sweet potato fries which to me made zero sense with fish so I asked for asparagus instead. Big mistake. They looked like Jacks’s beanstalks. They were literally and inch in diameter. Not tender AT ALL. How can you even consider serving asparagus that thick and expect it to be tasty? It was undercooked and nasty. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon cooked medium as his entree and it came out half medium rare and half medium. Taste was bland and very chewy for a Filet Mignon. He said it was equivalent to a Sizzler steak. On the side he had mashed potatoes which tasted liked boxed potatoes. Definitely not home made. Very bland too. We opted out on dessert and coffee because we just wanted to leave due to the cold, the noise, the food and it not being a memorable anniversary. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

First time I was ever disappointed in my meal here, my friend and I ordered the same steak dinner and neither were cooked to our satisfaction. We asked for rare & med rare and both were on the well done side. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box, way too watery and bland. It won't prevent us from going back at all since the food is usually outstanding.

Overpriced $10 baked potato was laughable, sushi served with out wasabi. Had to wait 10 minutes for it. Chopped salad with chickpeas, was not chopped and did not have chickpeas. Been going for years, it is not what it once was.

Maybe this is not the typical experience at this restaurant, but it is our first and will probably be our last. Arrive and we’re seated relatively quickly. The place was packed and loud. That’s, again, not a minus. It took a while for our water to arrive. When he did we gave our order. Then, we didn’t hear from him or anyone for 43 minutes. No food, no “how are you doing, can I get you anything.” Nothing. I finally had to catch his eye to get him over. Told him it’s been a while. He apologized and took off again. 10 minutes after that the food arrived and it was warm going on cold. Clearly it was sitting in the kitchen for at least 20 minutes based on the temperature. If it was a hot filet and the asparagus wasn’t cold I might give a good rating. As is, no.

Chop Shop was a place that we would frequent often; after our last meal there around eight months or so ago was the last time we went it was not good at all. We went last night on a whim and the food was off the charts from appetizers to dinner, service was top notch and the drinks actually got stronger as the night went on; we actually even met the owner who was very personable and pleasant. I would definitely be coming back and have already told a few how great it was!
