From the moment we walked in until the time we left, we felt well taken care of. We were greeted by Mike the owner, who saw us to our table and took the time to explain his restaurant and menu to us. Where in the world do you ever get the owner privately explain in detail everything from his locally sourced seafood, to his Canadian AAA beef and processes in which they are cooked. Our server was Sam, and she was exceptional and so friendly. Our meals were out of this world, and we haven’t stopped talking about it. 100% recommend.

Chop is my favourite spot downtown Halifax, everything about this place is amazing! My partner, friends and I go to Chop at least once a week, and the experience is always the same, fabolous!! The staff is really friendly, and always go above and beyond, and the food/drinks are amazing.

The ambience and the esthetic was beautiful as always. The service from our waitress was outstanding! We ordered the bread to start us off with our drinks and it was a good introduction to the rest of our meal. We had ciabatta bread with whipped browned butter which was okay, but the butter could’ve been a bit more salted to compliment the bread though. We drank wine and enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Mojito which was amazing! Our appetizers were the featured Bao Buns and their popular Steak Bites— 10/10 for both! We had the Rib Eye with Yukon Gold Mash and veg along with the 1/2 Rack of Ribs that came with house fries and veg. The rib eye was cooked perfectly and lacked nothing however, the ribs were very underwhelming and unsatisfying. They were not juicy and bordered being dry and the sauce wasn’t great. So we definitely won’t order that again. We didn’t complain because everything else was so great and our server truly was amazing. We celebrated a birthday and was given a complimentary desert along with a voucher for free steak bites the time we visit. We were so happy about that! Chop was definitely a wonderful Experience as always!

We visited the Chop for a friend's birthday celebration. Our server and his support team were fantastic, attentive and gave an in-depth explanation of the menu choices. They even presented our friend with a special birthday dessert.

First off let me say that our server Sherry was quite good and very pleasant but it seems to me the restaurant itself doesn't handle busy very well. The length of time we were waiting for appetizers and between apps and entrees was quite long. We were there for over 2 hours for apps, mains and no dessert. Appetizer wise Spicy Bao was decent Onion rings we're cooked to the point that Melba toast would have been jealous of their crunch Goat cheese dip pretty good Furious fries we ok Prime rib was really quite good The 7oz top sirloin was just sad looking. And the brocollini that came with was undercooked to the taste of the person eating it. The ribeye for 2 is more like a ribeye for 1.5 and honestly for the size was pricey. Served in a bit of an awkward size as well. Overall I'd give a hard fought average as the other staff we got see was nice as well including the hostess who handed out a free little sampler app as there was a anniversary at our table. Maybe a second chance on a quieter evening may improve the grade but I think we may not bother.

Service was amazing. Samantha was super responsive and helpful. Food however was a huge disappointment. My filet taster like wood and the chimichuri sauce was watery. Wish I could have given a good review.

Service was good and prompt, food was not the greatest. Appetizers were good, quick & fresh, mains were where we found food was not great. The Avocado Super Bowl, very bland, very lettuce heavy, Chop Salad with steak was very similar to Avocado Super Bowl very lettuce heavy and vinaigrette was flavourless. The Chop really came through. Was booked for Mothers day on a last minute thing. THE food was amazing but the service was the best I have had in a long Lon time. We went for Mother's Day. All the tables had cards signed by the staff and carnations which was so lovely. Emmanuelle was absolutely amazing! We loved him. He was so friendly and funny. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great and the noise level was excellent. I've been before and will happily come back!

The ambience is amazing…cozy booths, great views, and the food was superb!! Katie treated us like gold. So attentive and sweet. Other staff members would pop by to fill our water, take away plates…felt like royalty. Then the manager, Michael, stopped by and chatted with us for awhile. It was a lovely experience over all. Felt the food was mediocre for the amount we are paying. Husband ordered a steak and the waitress asked if he would like some onions and mushrooms on the side in addition to the rice and vegetables it comes with already. Once she said that I pointed out to my husband that the "steak toppers" were listed as $3.50 each, I didn't think it was worth it to pay thay much for Onions and mushrooms. But the waitress said oh no, we'll just give him a little on the side, making it seem like it was free. We get the food and a whole side plate of mushrooms come and a separate plate of Onions. My husband ate the mushrooms and had a tiny bit of the Onions, because who is really going to eat a whole plate of Onions. Get the bill and each side was $7! Which was a total ripoff. We were so frustrated and couldn't believe she charged us that much for something we didn't even want. Definitely will not be coming back here.

For the most part, the food was delicious. Was a but disappointed by the quantity of scallops and shrimp (2 each) in my Steak Oscar and the steak was meh but the rest of the meal was 10/10. Beautiful ambience.

First time there ,will be back,my daughter made a reservation for 10 in June,our server was great,steak was perfect,and I tried beets for the first time last night,and enjoyed them. Sides were very good,mashed potatoes and the beets with greens,I did find the half lobster a little tough,but my daughter enjoyed it,the treat of goat cheeks dip was wonderful,I would over more crispy toast,as we were heavy on the dip and still had half left . Our large group consisted of a bunch of people from all parts of Eastern Canada. Some people loved the food, others weren't impressed. Atmosphere and service were great though. Several of us ordered the creme brule and we all had the same reaction. Tt tasted like the milk or cream used in it during cooking was sour. The staff reacted properly by taking it off our bills and offering other desserts and were very apologetic,

Gross, bathroom door handle broken. Food yucky and only got green beans as a side

Our standard for restroom maintenance involves washroom checks every 15-30 minutes. The door handle was brought to my attention last night, and we were able to fix it right away. Excellent menu! This was our first trying a different ‘steak house’. We were impressed by how fresh all the items were. Everything had the right flavour and amounts were good to satisfy any diner. I got the garlic shrimp and crab cakes. Very yummy! My date got a peppercorn steak medium rare and he was very pleased.

Ambience, Food, and service are all excellent. Best prime rib I have ever had, and our server Rebecca made the experience all that much better. She was excellent.
