Chula Taberna Mexicana

Every Friday during the pandemic restictions, the team I work with, meet for lunch. This week we met at Chula and were not disappointed. The friendly staff, good service, and delicious food exceeded our expectations.

great service, amazing heated patio and killer cocktails.

Food arrived fast, outdoor seating was beautiful, socially distanced and warm. Place still felt buzzy and alive despite being spaced out. However apps arrived before our cocktails, and mains minutes after our apps while we waited for our wine. We decided to check in on the wine about 15 min into our apps as our mains were getting cold, the server apologized it seemed he had forgot to punch it in. They were quite busy so no biggie but would have been nice to have our wine with our mains while they were still warm.

Always love this place. Great food, great service and great atmosphere.

Overall a wonderful experience. Although minus the fact that they give you a bottle of water for $1.00 instead of free or tap water in a glass due to Covid.

Pre-packaged plastic utensils is fine.

Food is delicious and the customer service is spot on.

The ambience was great. Inviting and cozy. You had your own little cabana with a heater above. If there was sand, you’d feel like you were eating on the beach. The prices are about what you’d find at most restaurants. The El Papi drink was really good. The service was great and staff offered good recommendations. Definitely make reservations. Going back for sure.

Everything is delicious here, from the guacamole to the margaritas.

The food was very good and the service very friendly.
We appreciated the outdoor space setup to allow us to dine out (on the heated patio) during the pandemic. They are well organized to keep their patrons safe while having a good experience. We had a great evening!

The chips and guac was excellent as usual. Perfect salt on the chips.
And where else can one enjoy a great covered and heated patio away from the street.

Beautiful ambience and loved the decor and food.

Amazing patio and great service. Good selection of drinks and food was very tasty albeit a bit on the pricey side and not many vegetarian options for entrees. Only thing I didn't like is that I didn't know we had a 90-minute limit on our table (note for next time: read the fine print of your reservation confirmation). So when my friend showed up late, we could only stay for an hour longer. Still, it's a great place that I would recommend....just make sure your friends show up on time!!

We were on the patio but it was a miserable day and raining slightly. The servers positioned us near the heat and put an umbrella up so we would be shielded by the rain but it was not ideal. The is a great patio when the weather is nice. The food was excellent and we felt bad that we were the only people there since the weather was not conducive to sitting outside. We have been there many times and always like the food and attitude of the staff.

Cute spot at Gerrard & Jones, amazing back patio. We were sat on the lower of the two levels and had an awesome time. The street corn is super great and the margaritas were fantastic. Our server was honesty the best, really funny and had perfect control of the table. Things came at the perfect time, we had new drinks seemingly the moment ours were done. We’d come back just for his service again :) You guys are doing an amazing job, thank you for being open during all the craziness and being so accommodating. Just to note, we also felt really safe with their safety protocols. :)

Our server went above and beyond to make sure we were covered from the rain, and were kept warm by the heaters!

Love this place ... Food ... Staff and Great patio.

Absolutely love Chula. Their tequila selection is incredible, and I highly recommend the pork shoulder tacos!

Electric heaters above and a gas heater will help to make the outdoor patio comfortable into the colder weather.

I appreciate operating a restaurant during covid must be impossible.
However, if you are going to stay open, water in a glass not bottled water is a must. Plastic cutlery? Seriously? My Margarita was in a glass, so why not serve me water in a glass? Plates were ceramic, so why not give me proper silverware? Telling me 1.5 hour maximum sitting time on a Wednesday night!?! How about thank you for coming we really appreciate your patronage. Covid doesn't excuse proper customer service!

Nice ambiance.
Small menu but perfect for a light meal and appy.
Server was disengaged but competent.
Drink menu had zero non-alcoholic options, only boozy choices for $13.50
FOOD: had beef and chicken tacos. Kinda tasteless, but fresh and well-presented.

We had a great time. Amazing little hidden gem. We will go back again for sure.

Wasn't as good as I expected. Not much variety on the menu. Only churros for dessert. We ordered 3 different tacos and honestly I've tasted better tacos from non Mexican restaurants. We found the taco wrap wasn't soft enough and the meat was too dry. The alcoholic drinks we ordered sound fancy but didn't taste as good as we wished for. The best was the appetizer - dos amigos.

Excellent atmosphere, friendly service, and absolutely delicious food. The tacos are my favourite, and the drink selection leaves nothing to be desired.

Also, their huge multilevel patio and careful covid-19 precautions make this a great pandemic hang.

Superb patio, staff know what they are doing and balance respect for diner's privacy with service level very well. Food is always prepared and presented well. Thank you Luis and Chula overall.

Ordered encholadas, looked like two burritos. Ordered churros, were frozen...Overall below average food....

The entree wasn’t really a Mexican burrito, more like a Texican or Tex Mex interpretation of it

Great food. Happy they had patio heaters.
