Cibo - 17th Ave
Cibo has always been good. We have gone with other couples and with our families (grandkids and all). Every time we all enjoy it and find something good to eat.
We had a great meal at Cibo. Awesome Spinach Salad. Only complaint would be that they could be a little more generous with the linguine with clams. Lots of clams, very tasty just a little light on the noodles. Otherwise great.
Food was good. Service was good. Prices were great. Table was terrible. Top was very wobbly. Floor was dirty.
Service was disorganized and lackluster. Table not cleared of appetizer service until long after the main course was finished. One meal was delivered cold and re-made instead of just heated for 30 seconds. Long waits for ordering and payment. Plenty of people working but looked a bit chaotic - perhaps not well organized or trained.
The kitchen, on the other hand, delivered excellent quality food. The problem was clearly in the front of the house. Possibly due to dining shortly after new year - perhaps more experienced staff were on vacation after the NYE rush.
Food was excellent.
Extremely disappointing - waited a good 10 minutes for anyone to notice we had been seated. Finally went to look for our server. Waited least another 10 minutes for 2 glasses of wine and two cocktails.
Food was mediocre, and the service was terrible. We were very patient and did not complain. Having dined here numerous times in the past, this experience was a waste of money and it spoiled what should have been a great night of dining.
Will not recommend and will not go back.
Met for lunch with friends from out of town. All were impressed with food and ambience.
Will definitely come again when in the area.
Service was poor, we waited 15 minutes after being seated for the waitress to finally come by and ask for drinks. We just got desserts and felt as we if we were poorly treated because we only got desserts, then weended up waiting another 20-30 minutes after finishing our dessert just to get our bills. Dessert prices were very good and fair and we enjoyed those.
Our server was awesome with such a large party. Awesome food and drinks!
The food was very ordinary, service was very slow. Our server was nice but seemed inexperienced.
Disorganized for New Years Eve. They had overbooked, causing a 45min wait after our reserved time for us to get a table. We could see many empty tables waiting for turnaround while people were in line waiting for their reservation. The food was great though and despite the poor service I would return.
We celebrated our New Years Eve at CIBO this year and it was excellent. They had their usual Monday specials, pasta for $12 and house wine for $5/glass. Great value. We started with the fresh bread and olive oil, artichoke dip, and olives. We then each had pasta, gnocchi, ravioli, linguine and the risotto. We also shared the truffle fries, which are one of the best in the City! The pastas were all tasty and the house wine was very good. We ended the night by sharing a delicious tiramisu for dessert!
Always good at cibo
The food was good but the portion sizes were obnoxiously small. We had the artichoke dip appetizer...it came with just a few crackers, by the time we finished those we still had half the dip left. The service was some of the worst I have had in a long time. The server seemed unenthused and acted like she would have rather been anywhere else but there - not even a single smile or a "hey, how are you guys?". Everything was very slow, we waited a long time for drinks. I think we were about halfway through our meal before she came around to offer. Once we got the bill, we sat around waiting for her to bring the machine for so long that we thought we had to go pay up at the front. It wasn't until we were putting our coats on that she came by.
Usually really good but this particular time was quite bad. They forgot our scodellina we had ordered for appetizers and we didn’t get our other food for over an hour. We had young but well behaved kids with us and some how we got seated next to you the bathroom the people from the bar were using even though we reserved the table 2 months prior. Server ignored us for about an hour not even filling our drinks while we weren’t getting our food and didn’t appear to be doing much else. They felt bad for not bringing out our appetizers and we got them for free which was very nice but all the food then came at once and was impossible to eat.
Took a long time for food to come out and truffle fries were just warm when they arrived. Risotto was watery, portion size was small and there was little chicken in it. Waitress was indifferent to us. Had eaten at Cibo before and was impressed the first time; disappointed this time.
On the plus side the ambiance upstairs was excellent.
Food was excellent. The appys are delicious, I ordered 2 for $15, and I couldn’t finish it all. Service was good, but nothing that would knock your socks off this time, odd for Cibo. Acceptable for a 20% tip. Ambiance is always fun and relaxing at this location. Watch out for overpriced drinks: a simple green tea was $5.00! That right, a tea bag and water. Apparently it’s made out of Unicorn tears. An americano coffee was $4.00, sooooo they need to look at adjusting that pricing. Otherwise, I come here often and it’s always enjoyable.
Crazy value for the price! Service was friendly and attentive.
Delicious food and the specials were exceptionally well priced. Service was superb. My only complaint would be that it was a little loud if you are looking for something more intimate, but even that wasn't bad.
Great food and service just a bit loud upstairs. Will ask to sit on the lower level next time.
Quick friendly great service as the server knew we were heading to the game! Never disappoints!
Our server was overwhelmed by patrons. I think Cibo did not realize that a Christmeas concert was taking place in a nearby Church, and many of the patrons were having lunch prior to the afternoon concert. The restaurant was seriously understaffed.
I love coming to this place be it either in the group or just myself. Loving the pizza bar if coming by myself
Had a most excellent meal with friends just recently. The beer offered covers a nice range of tastes, and the meal was delightful. The place itself is very interesting - love the decor and the Palm Springs air to the room.
Overall really like cibo, however on several occasions now the hostess does not check in the reservation properly through Open Table. I end up getting an email from open table saying I’ve missed my reservation. Please train your hostesses to use the system properly.
Everything was really tasty and the environment was perfect for our group of 10.
We chose Cibo's for a birthday celebration for a party of 12. Overall the evening was a success. The menu had food selections to accommodate the Paleo and Vegetarians in the group. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was energetic without being noisy. Prices were very reasonable.
Always delicious food, good selection and variety. Especially love the flat bread pizzas. Red house wine was very smooth (and I am picky), particularly excellent value at $5/ glass special. The service was pleasant and attentive without being rushed. Would definitely recommend CIBO’s to friends.
Been here numerous times for lunch and a few dinners. Always flavorful meals. Definitely one of the better mid priced restaurants in Calgary.
My friends meal was undercooked and had to be sent bAck and our pizza crust was not cooked fully either - was a little doughy
The service was awful and the food was cold.
Had a wonderful experience at Cibo. The food was delicious. The service was great. And the atmosphere is vibrant.
A friend recommended Cibo so we gave it a try. The Tapas menu was quite good, the pizza was average.
I was disappointed in the wine by the glass selection; pretty stiff prices and not much to choose from.
Was very pleased with the dinner and the service. The manager, Adam, was very accommodating and sat myself and guests at a table where the noise level was just right. I will definitely return.
Zack the waiter gave us an exceptional service, food was good and place is nice and cozy. Keep it up
Group of 3, it was our first experience at Cibo. Adam came twice to our table to chat and ensure you were having a great time. I am French, live in Vancouver, travel a lot for work, and Cibo is definitely a place I will go back when in Calgary and recommend!!
Great service, it was my daughter’s birthday and we had a special Mom and daughter dinner. My daughter has allergies and our server was very knowledgeable and able to give us a clear understanding of protocols followed making our dinner all the more enjoyable. It just takes a little bit of extra time but made us feel at home. Hi
Cibo has the best specials and happy hour. The food is excellent! One of my favorite restaurants in all of Calgary!
This was our 3rd visit - ever time has been great !
Wine was way overpriced. Over 4 times retail.
Meal took for ever to deliver and then one dish was the wrong one. No real apology or compensation offered
I have been a regular Cibo customer for years. This is the first time that the service was horrible ! Our main courses took forever to come, we had to wait a long time for extra crostini, dirty dishes remained on our table for a very long time even when the server came 2x to the table to package up food and get our dessert order (yes the plates were all empty of food) and there were inconsistent servers. It seemed like shifts changed part way through. I noticed other table had dirty dishes waiting a long time as well. Last time I went to Cibo 6 weeks ago I tried the Centre Street Location and definitely prefer the food at 17 ave
