Cibo - 17th Ave
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11am-2pm
Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 3-10pm, Friday - Saturday: 3pm-12am
I've been to Cibo on 17th Avenue a few times now and it has been great every time. The food is good comfort food. Our waiter was great and very attentive. There is nothing bad to say about Cibo. It doesn't necessarily WOW like some other gems in Calgary, but it does provide consistently good food and a good wait staff. Definitely worth coming in for a bite. Also, there happy hour is unbeatable! Check it out.
We had a wonderful time. Out group was seated in a private area off the main dining room which was a great surprise. The service was excellent and very accommodating of a few dietary restrictions.
Love this place. Great place to hang out with friends and family. Amazing food whether you choose to share plates or not. Staff has always been really great whenever we go.
Good was tasty but portions were very small for pasta and dessert...my salade was not fluffy more like it was still wet and wilted or perhaps old it was a clump ..appetizer of arrancini were so small than traditional way they r served at other restaurants in city I had to ask if that was really what I ordered....not to mention the glasses were dirty ..not to happy with this experience ..only great. Comment pizza was fantastic
Service detracted from the overall experience: took away plates as I picked up the last piece of pizza and brought us the bill then asked if we wanted anything else - as the place was not even half full, this hustling us out was totally unwarranted and rude. Will return to Cibo but not the one at this location.
Love Cibo. Consistently good food
We have dined here several times in the past and had always enjoyed our meals. This time the food seemed to be lacking flavour from the appetizers to the main courses. We also noticed that the portions have gotten smaller.
We hope they go back to their previous version of theirselves.
Having been to Cibo on a few prior occasions, and remembering the great atmosphere, service and food, and very decent pricing, we have since returned to introduce this experience to more friends. All who have had the opportunity to relish in its richness of friendliness and fine food have enjoyed it immensely and passed on stories of their dining adventure to others.
One of our favourite dishes is the simple, but comfort food prize, the Wednesday night Spaghetti and Meatballs. It remains a favourite. My wife loves the wines and I enjoy the variety of tap beers.
We also like the fact that even when the place is busy, we never felt crowed, or too tight to others; you don’t become a part of other people’s conversations. We like the easy, open concept of the space.
Our most recent waiter was an Australian with great energy, very good with our children and most accommodating and patient. He seemed to be there when he was needed and made great suggestions for the menu choices. That waiter is a great ambassador for Cibo.
All in all, a terrific night of food, drink and good company. We look forward to our return.
Fly problem on patio, everything else fantastic!
Always love the patio at Cibo’s and Sundays 1/2 price pizza and $4.00 beer brings me back almost every Sunday
After wanting to visit a place with such a great reputation for quite some time, I was disappointed to find the dining area on the second floor to be extremely loud. If not for the noise level, it would have been a lovely date night. Lamb meatball pizza and gnocchi had unique flavours. Server was quick to promo an incorrect beverage order and prompt bringing the bill and taking payment, which was appreciated.
This was my third visit. The first couple times were pretty standard for a 17th ave restaurant. This visit really changed my mind about Cibo and I’m eager to go back! Our group had several food restrictions and I always feel like a nuisance but the server was exceptional and was able to make some great suggestions. The pizza was really, really tasty. Whipped ricotta and blueberry was also great.
Beautiful patio on a summer day! Love the lunch board option!
Not a great experience overall. Neither the food nor the service was good. Won’t go back.
Food and cocktails were amazing! Great value on the half priced pasta night. Honestly service wasn’t great. I think our table was in an awkward place, right next to washrooms and kind of secluded. We didn’t seem to have a server and had to flag people down multiple times to order/get cutlery, since we didn’t have a specific server we were asked if we wanted dessert/the bill multiple times before all our food had even been served. The servers were all nice, food tasted fantastic, just a lot of confusion in the service that night.
Service very slow. Cibo have taken classic Italian food and somehow made it boring. Dont order the bruschetta or Arancini, you'll be very disappointed. Portions are small and don't reflect the price or environment. Charged $3 for a side of hot sauce. No atmosphere. Won't be returning.
Honestly it was alright but nothing spectacular. I’d heard a lot about cibo and was super excited to try it out, but the food took quite a while to hit the table and wasn’t fantastic. I will say though, our server was great. She maintained presence at the table without being overbearing, as well she was efficient and professional with her service.
Service was super slow and we barely saw our waiter. Food was good but the wait time for ordering, and drinks arriving was a bit disappointing. They weren’t super busy in our section but who knows how many tables they assign their people. The daily specials are too good to pass up though!
Had a pretty disappointing dinner at Cibo on Saturday night. We waited a good two hours for our meals. Granted, it was quite busy but we there was no acknowledgement from our server or the manager (who was helping out all night) about how long our food was taking. The food was fine but wasn't super hot when it arrived. Our server seemed in over his head. We were thankful the manager stepped in and helped get our bills and take payment, or else I'm sure we would have been stuck there another hour.
We made the mistake of ordering the burger, which was on special. It was very greasy as were the accompanying truffle fries. I really wished I had ordered something less greasy. The ambiance is very casual...the tables and walls look like reclaimed/recycled wood. Just ok. Not sure if I'd return.
We were not seated in the requested section on my reservation, the service was slow, the food took an exceptionally long time. I done here frequently, and I’ve been deeply disappointed.
We came here a second time after a not so great experience and it was better but our waitress was very scattered and seemed a bit confused, the good was great but I'm not sure I'll go back again.
Great experience for Monday night 1/2 priced wine and pasta!
Service to get our food was slow despite lots of empty tables. Also we had to wait a while for everyone at our table to get their food.
We were able to sit on the patio and the food was delicious..service was good. It was Mother’s Day so there were kids...one very energetic and loud little girl beside us which was a little distracting.
We mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday to the waitress just for conversation , but our server didn’t seem to care. We weren’t looking for a hand out or anything but something would have been nice. It was pretty busy on the patio which we realized but the service was still mediocre.
The food and drinks we amazing as always.
Great experience. Got on the patio as requested. Excellent food as always and great service and atmosphere.
Recommended by a work friend who goes to Cibo for regular date nights when she heard I was looking for good pizza in Calgary. It met expectations. Took hubby for his birthday and the food was delicious from the appetizer to the two pizzas we tried. Not too salty, superb service and a delightful patio for ambiance. We broused the dessert menu and were tempted despite having an entire cake waiting for us at home—it looks amazing, but we restrained ourselves with great difficulty. I highly recommend. Our server was outstanding too. We will definitely be back again for multiple dinners.
It was mine and my families first time to Cibo, we went as I had gotten a job earlier in the day and we were celebrating. The drinks were good and our server Francesca was excellent but the kitchen was so slow, had the food not been great I would not go back, it was a Tuesday so I'm not sure what was going on. If you go beware it could be a while to get your food.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our previous Sunday night pizza nights at your restaurant..however, the last few times (during the last six weeks) that we have come, we have had a long wait for our pizza.. it seems like there is not enough servers or cooks..the pizza has appeared to our table with very little on it..the couple of rows of beer that my husband and I have enjoyed have not been available.. the ambience has been very loud..honestly, this was our family’s favorite to all meet on a Sunday night, but we have decided to not meet there for a while..
My daughter also had her wedding reception there and it was excellent. Thanks.
Margherita drink was too sweet, bruschetta is underwhelming, pizza was really good. It falls under that typical trap in which restaurants get too popular and sacrifice service and quality to satisfy large groups. It’s still a good restaurant but it isn’t as good as I’ve seen in the past.
Excellent - definitely be back!
Amazing service and good food. One of the few spots on 17th comfortable for families or groups.
We loved our time today. Hosted 6 others and had a great time out. Food was great. Happy hour... You can't beat the value! It was louder than normal today so we struggled to hear eachother but we still loved our experience. Cibos is a regular for me. Always a great stop.
Great deal with small plates on Thursdays. The Brussels sprouts were far more al dente than any of us liked but otherwise good food at a great price.
It was great. Server seemed a little impatient or in a hurry.
I've been to Cibo a number of times and always enjoy it. This past Sunday the food was not nearly as good as it usually is. The pizza lacked toppings and flavour. Not the usual fantastic pizza I've had in the past. Our server was really great, even though she seemed to be extremely busy. Chalking the pizza up to an off night .
