City Winery Chicago
The wines are exceptional: Grapes are imported from renowned regions around the country, then crushed and aged on site. Wines are poured by the glass or bottle, with many available on tap.
The menu features Mediterranean-inspired small plates designed to complement our extensive wine list. Burrata, arancini, flatbreads, and hearty meat dishes are varied enough to please a diverse crowd over a few rounds of wine. Servers are happy to point you toward their favorite bites and paired wines, and with a concert next door almost any given night, dinner at City Winery means there’s always something fun to experience.

Wonderful ambience for the oenophile and the rest of us. And with a great outdoor area in the spring. Modern California type fresh cuisine wll informed.
City Winery great for eating and more importantly to wonderful music. We have been many times- worthwhile joining Membership that can allow you 'free' parking and key advance notice on upcoming concerts. As the weather changes in spring, eating/drinking space will also move to outside. Overall food and wine, combined with service has always been high to 'excellent' level. Enjoy!!
We had reserved a table for dinner after our company's board of director meetings. City Winery service was the poorest I have ever experienced in a restaurant. A meal for one of our party failed to materialize, after we complained the manager came out to inquire if one of us had consumed two meals! Unbelievable. His exact words were someone had "allegedly not received their entrée", when the individual involved had no plate in front of him! The waiter hardly visited our table and the manager was absolutely unprofessional. Will never return; do not recommend.
I honestly do not know why, but there were not enough servers. It was a Sunday, but that shouldn't matter. Our waiter was great, but just needed help.
I've never written a bad review until now. We've dined several times before and will not go back following this experience. We were hosting out of town guests and it was uncomfortable from the start with a hostess that couldn't smile or offer a greeting. We went for Sunday brunch and we were the only table seated at the time. When the waiter arrived almost a full 10 minutes after we were seated, we learned they that for that day they were offering only a limited "lunch menu" not the brunch menu that is posted and the waiter couldn't offer any explanation. Nothing about this was posted on the website when we made the reservation. The service was horribly slow, and though we did not have a time constraint when we arrived, we ended up having to rush to get our guests to the airport. After waiting nearly an hour, we had to hunt down the waiter three times about our food, missing meals and we ultimately received an incorrect meal. Because of the long delay, the guest chose to just keep the meal (of which he only ate a fraction) instead of waiting for the correct meal to be made and delivered. Despite asking, we never received fresh coffee, water or drinks. Even when we received an incorrect meal, there was no apology, no explanation for the poor service, and no offer to adjust the bill. An apology goes a long way with me, so the fact that there was never any apology offered about the menu changes, slow service, incorrect meals, or ignored requests for water and coffee, is unforgivable.
Our server Kaley was wonderful! Our food came out very quickly
Great Concert venue
Excellent service and delicious brunch.
Great service . We had a happy birthday sign on our table when we arrived .
Great for large groups.
Please see my request, i wanted an area that was quiet. I realize that the ambience here is lively. I expected it to be a bit energetic. It was fine until there was a dj, which we were not warned about by any one from the restaurant. The server was not very attentive. The cheese board was terrible. We ordered calamari that was never delivered. I've been disappointed by this place several times. I won't be back or suggest it.
This was a great place for a date. The Deviled eggs were amazing!
Service was superb! The manager gave us a brief tour of the winery and the theater. Our waitress was especially accommodating. It was a great afternoon of some old college friends getting together!
The burrata is amazing. The atmosphere reminds me of being in California. The prices are a bit high against what you are getting but it may be a west loop thing.
Our experience was phenomenal! We especially appreciated the knowledge we received about the wine we selected.
We always have great food and service here, but this visit was out of the ordinary. Our appetizer and wine was brought out right away, then we placed the rest of our food order. It was about 45 minutes before the food came, without anyone checking up on us. Then all at once, all of our food came out. We ordered a bunch of small, shareable plates. It was a real shame to have all of it come at the exact same time. Oh well, the food was good and we know this was not the norm. So we'll be back.
The waitress we had that night was excellent. Couldn’t of asked for better service. Wish l could remember her name!! We came to see the show and had a great time. This was l first at your restaurant but our forth time to see a show and have always walked away pleased. Looking forward to returning again and again
The venue is overall good. The seating is a little tight. and the sight lines are a little dificult, but overall we ussually have a great time.
Always a fun venue. The food was delicious with a variety of small plates to share. We ate at a table in front of the fireplace, which was cozy considering the freezing weather outside. Service was excellent.
Great experience here at CW! The food was so, so, so good! The ambiance and acoustics were completely on point. I’ll definitely be back.
City Winery was a great choice for a business meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive or distracting, and the volume inside the restaurant wasn’t too loud. Food was great. Thanks!
Food is meh, especially at the prices.
Was too expensive to get a lunchable amount of cheese and meat on the "tour of meats and cheeses" server was unattentive, and served us warm water, rarely came back. Lemon tart was literally inedible and I can eat almost any dessert.
Great space. Excellent concert venue. Good wine. Pretty reasonable prices.
Great food and wine!! Nice places for grouo
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening - food was good, service very good, and the venue was intimate and delightful!
The restaurant cancelled our group reservation last minute due to a power outage.
The food was very good. We enjoyed the Brussels sprouts!
For a winery, however, they could have a better wine selection, and better wines. The tasting we got as we got in was not good. The place is beautiful. Servers are a little awkward but nice enough.
Over priced, just ok
The food overall was very good. My sea bass however looked like fish jerky it was so over cooked. The real problem was the service. It was awful. Both the server and the girl that poured our wine were awful. Neither one seemed able to smile and the time spent waiting for food and overall service was horrendous! We ultimately left before dessert because no one seemed aware that the chocolate mousse had never been brought to the table. On our way out the valet stepped in front of our party to let someone step in front of us to leave. We thought he was opening the door for us. He then proceeded out the door instead of holding open the door for our party, which consisted of 2 women and 2 men. I was shocked at how poorly the staff performed.
So surprised to be sat in back room that was very romantic and made for a lovely and memorable Valentines Day!
Tia was a great server and very friendly. Recommended drinks which hit the spot during the concert we attended.
We had a business lunch for a party of seven. It was wonderful in that the place was empty so it was quiet and we could talk. The waiter was quite attentive. It did take a long time for the food to come out so some of us only had about 15 minutes to eat after waiting for 25 minutes for the food. This was quite a surprise given that the place was pretty empty. That should have been a clue! Anyway, I would love to go back in the evening to try the wine.
Amazing food and great decor! Loved it!
Service was terrible. Waited forever for everything. And there was no one there!
My party of 12 was celebrating a couple birthdays and had a great time. This venue can handle large parties well. It’s a beautiful, open venue with good energy - not too quiet to feel like a date place and not too loud so we could converse easily. Had enough space to leave my seat and talk to others at the end of the table without disturbing other tables.
The wine is nice, especially those on tap. Most dishes were excellent - really liked the risotto balls, Brussel sprouts and mushroom flat bread. The piece of steak I tried had good seasoning but was so chewy and with gristle that I could hardly swallow it.
Our server did I nice job of helping us select dishes, but he seemed annoyed that several ordered wine by the glass and not bottle; he didn’t come back as often as ideal. Just a minor, minor complaint about a fantastic evening. A few in the group had only been there for concerts and said they will return for dinner again. I’ll be back too.
Amazing food, even better server.
I love CW as a music venue. But as a restaurant it doesn’t seem like they are trying very hard. The menu is uninspired. The food was so so. Would not go back for the resto and would eat somewhere else before a concert.
Great place for dinner and a concert. Waiter went out of his way to do a couple extra little things for my wife. It was her birthday.
Great food, presentation and flavors, but the soup was not hot. Not even warm. Everything else was perfect.
Overall: very good.
