CLAY is light and always pleasant to visit. There is a good selection on the menu and service was good. Though not inexpensive, it gives good value for the cost.

We paid admission to attend a special exhibit. We got absorbed by the exhibit and arrived 10 minutes after our reservation time. We were shocked that the first response of the host ( who made us wait at least 5 minutes while he seated 2 other parties - who were “walk ins”) was to reprimand us for our “ late” arrival. He refused to seat us unless we agreed to leave in 75 minutes. We agreed. The bill was delivered without request after 60 minutes and despite the fact that we’re empty tables after 75 minutes and the 2 walk-in tables were still seated the host came to our table and told us to leave! I had been considering booking the venue for a sizable private function. No way would I even consider it given the rude staff.

Generally ok, three diners seemed satisfied with their meals, one found the burger unappetising and overpriced considering it was a simple beef patty with a small amount of shredded lettuce, slice of tomato and some bitter tasting mayonnaise. Request noted re no chili sauce. Pleasant, quiet ambiance much appreciated.

Amazing service, ambiance and food. I came for brunch with a friend and it was great. Very spacious so you’re not crammed with other tables. Food options were good especially since my friend is vegetarian. We loved it!

We misunderstood the servers description of one of the dishes and did not realize it would be cold. The server was apologetic and we returned the dish and it was taken off our bill which we appreciated!

The food in general was poor; no much option at the menu. The catch of the day was scallops, which came in such a small quantity in a small plate that looked more like an entrée than a main dish (as it was offered). My dish was "fish & chips", and it was so salty that I could not eat it. I was very disappointed.

Had a burger with fries, both excellent. Tiramisu was also excellent. Our server was delightful, attentive, friendly, cheerful, helpful. Made our meal all the more pleasant. Just a lovely experience!

Although I enjoyed my meal of Fish & Chips; I am curious to know why there wasn’t more pasta dishes on the menu. My lunch partner said she recalled that a few years ago when she came for lunch; the ambiance was a little more upscale with white table cloths on the table. Location is an impactful factor so Yes - I would recommend CLAY to a friend.

Best fish & chips I have ever had in over 50 years of eating them. I certainly will go again! The accompanying wine (Pinot Grigio) was so good. Also we appreciated the wonderfully quiet ambiance that was so conducive to good conversation and joy of being together. Thank you!!

My friend and I enjoyed lunch in a beautiful setting. Service was excellent and we both enjoyed our omelette and salads. We were able to linger over coffee and continue our conversation which we much appreciated. Thank you.

Excellent service. Meal for two outstanding. Strawberry waffles especially amazing because one guest doesn’t have much of an appetite. Her Comment “I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed a meal so much! View from North window she found delightful too, it reminded her of her university days. Waiter charming! Highlight - seeing Dame Madelina’s truly beautiful exhibit and actually meeting her. We both thought the staging of the exhibit was outstanding, plus the written repoitire so beautifully presented.

Lovely airy dining room with lots of natural light from floor to ceiling windows. Add in tasty, ample portions plus pleasant, unhurried service to make Clay a great luncheon venue!

The Belgian waffles with fresh berries and peach compote were excellent, and the blueberry-hibiscus tea was one of the best I've ever had. The server was lovely with just the right level of attentiveness. My friend's food was less good. The salad was really boring, just leaf lettuce with a few radish slices, and apparently the cauliflower in the omelette just didn't work. But she said the pineapple-passion fruit sorbet was amazing. She'll make different choices in future, since we will certainly be back!
