We've tried a variety of appetizers, breads and entrees the many times we have eaten at ClayOven Tandoor and all have been wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful without hovering over the table.

We had chicken tandoori, lamb vindaloo, nan bread, samosas, a bottle of Indian wine, and one other vegetarian dish (forgot the name). Everything was excellent from beginning to end. If you're looking for authentic Indian this is a great place to go to.

We had a great experience at ClayOven Tandoor Indian Grill & Bar. Walk into great smells and a warm atmosphere. Service was great and food was outstanding. We'll be back and want to try some of the more saucy dishes.

There were 4 of us, (2 couples) and we asked for separate checks in the beginning and the waiter bluntly refused. He said he’d do “one check” and we have to split it. He was not accommodating at all nor was he making any effort. He was rude and not even apologetic. Also, Clay Oven is the ONLY restaurant in the USA that charges for REFILLS OF ICE TEA! No restaurant that we know of ever charges for REFILLS of tea or coffee. It’s poor customer relations and CHEAP and UnAmerican. Two or three wines that were requested in our group were not available. How does a restaurant offer wines on a menu but not have them in stock? And this is not the first time this has happened. It seems they like to advertise but don’t back it up. We were disappointed overall as it started off bad and didn’t get better. Doubt we’d go back….ever. But we will continue to tell people and write reviews about our experiences there. The management doesn’t seem to care in the least what the customers want. This is not the first review we’ve written about them. They don’t read these reviews because they NEVER change and from the looks of it they certainly don’t have many patrons trying to get a table. Wonder why?

We have found a gem. Its very quiet I think they do a lot of take out. The service was fantastic. But most importantly the food was amazing!! I had the lamb something masala can’t remember the name exactly but it was fantastic. Friend had lamb madras also tasty. Daughter had butter chicken. Garlic naan delicious. The flavors are a treat for your tastebuds. Give them a try

While the restaurant was short-staffed, they made up for it in the taste of the food and the single waiter they had was excellent. He gave great suggestions and was very personable and customer-focused. The food was delicious! The restaurant décor looks nothing like an Indian restaurant but don't let it fool you. Truly excellent food!

The tandoor chicken was not as we expected. It was on the bone, with drumsticks, wings etc and not presented as we’ve experienced before. Usually it’s boneless pieces of white meat. This was not and we won’t order it again. Also, I requested a refill of iced tea and got charged TWICE for the tea. No restaurant does that with a soft drink and especially iced tea. We ordered a appetizer of fried cottage cheese that was awful. Never order that again it was tasteless and unappealing. It seemed a bit disorganized with wait staff. We didn’t really know who was our waiter as we had 2 people waiting on us and neither were really attentive or checked on us to see if we needed anything. We literally had to walk up front and get help for our table. It’s unfortunate as we were looking forward to this meal at this restaurant because we hadn’t been back there in some time. We were celebrating Fathers Day and it was disappointing to say the least. Additionally, the first thing we did was ask for 2 separate checks as we were with another couple and neither waiter wanted to do it….they were both reluctant but did finally concede….very strange. The place seemed clean.

I think the food is terrific here but they are desperately in need of help. One gentleman was covering the front, take out and all tables. It was a long, slow process with little explanation: I understand everywhere is hamstrung for help right now, but this was excessive.

This restaurant is not ready for business. We made reservations for Saturday night and arrived on time, and we were told to wait to be seated but there were many tables available all over the floor. My husband and I were seated after a 5 minute wait, no problem, and then we waited for 20 minutes for the arrival of appetizers. It took another 20 minutes for two dishes to arrive, and they forgot the kulcha, which was uncooked through the bread, and they forgot the raita. the food itself was just okay, but I was disappointed in the poor service and the long wait, in an otherwise small not busy restaurant. I will never go there again. Save yourself some time, and anxiety and don’t visit this place for dinner.

Horrible customer service by Oscar. He was very rude to us. Was speaking to us aggressively. Will never go back to this restaurant. When we told the manager, Oscar continued to be loud and aggressive. We left after eating only a few bites of our appetizer.

We loved the food. Samosas, naan, tandoori lamb and chicken were delicious! I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the following three issues: no salad available, no Pinot Grigio available, and at the end of our meal, when we went to order samosas and another app to take home to our son, we were told it would take 30-45 min because there was a party in the party room. We had to pick our son up from work and couldn’t wait that long. We will return for more of this flavorful food!

Every single staff member we encountered was so kind and personable. It was by far the best Indian cuisine we have ever had. Chef checked on us a few times to make sure we were completely happy, which we were!! Will definitely return!!!

The waiter Oscar was the best part about the visit. Very helpful and nice. The food was below average. Ordered shrimp masala. We got some form of Anaheim curry...almost a Thai curry. The shrimp was hard to cut with a knife. Oscar was kind enough to take it back and make us a fresh order. The second plate was worse.

We decided to try ClayOven Tandoor on recommendation from a neighbor. Food was fantastic and hit the spot for my craving for Indian cuisine. We also tried an appetizer and it was house made and excellent. Food was not too spicy, and they let you adjust your spice level.

The worst quality of food, no flavor or spices in chicken 65, some curry were full of gravy, no vegetables, The Nabatatna kurma was only gravy of mushroom and green peas, and many more. Service was poor, overall a guy said as manager had the worst behaviors to customers with very bad attitude. Decided never to go again.

We went to celebrate my husband’s 30 birthday and our families meeting (his parents live in the UK). Even though it was a Friday night for 8 of us and a baby, it was not too loud and we felt that we were able to talk to each other comfortably without disrupting anyone else. The service was great. We were not rushed to order and the restaurant had a bar so everyone could enjoy drinks with their food. There were a lot of food options for everyone to be happy with and the food was delicious. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend it.

The food was tasty, but the service was very disappointing. We didn’t find anyone to be welcoming to us, we almost felt like a bother. They also add an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more. I guess they don’t have to be warm and friendly when they know they’re getting an automatic tip. Better to order the food as take out.

My family and I love Indian food and ClayOven always fulfills our cravings! We like to order extra so we always have some to take home for another meal! Yum . . . it's SO good!

It was our first time here but definitely won’t be our last. The food was so good. It’s one of the best Indian restaurants in the Chicago area. I’ve been to many and this holds up with the best. We’ll be visiting here again soon.

Restaurant was not clean. Dust and dirt on most surfaces. Light fixtures above tables were caked in dust. Food was just average. Wait staff was pleasant, but poorly trained and ineffectual.

Had a wonderful evening! First time here and we were treated like family! Food is the best Indian I have had this side of Deli! Authentic, warm and real! Be sure to ask for Oscar,Chef and Back of the House Manager is extremely gifted and his passion for his food shows up his smile, as well as his willingness to go the extra step to make everything perfect. If you are within the Northwest Chicago burbs this is worth the drive from anywhere you are!

They were the most attentive hosts. Really helped with my date while is a vegan. Suggested correct vegan dishes and allowed her a tasting. All of the food was top notch. We could not have had a nicer time!

We attended for the Mother’s Day brunch, which we’ve enjoyed before and is why we went back. There was a great selection of Indian dishes to sample and not one that I didn’t enjoy. I’ve been a fan of Indian food for years, and never realized how good curried fish was! (I usually order any of the Lamb dishes). The only down side was being a buffet there was tendency (for me, anyway) to over eat. My wife loved the selection and the different tastes, too. We both left with full and happy tummies!
