The brain child of Urbanspace's Kevin Burns, CEO and Merrill Alley, Principal - Codependent is a conceptual cocktail and coffee bar inspired by Italian luxury, aperitivo culture and the belief that beautiful design should be enjoyed by all. Think of it as a high-end design showroom meets Austin hospitality.

Located on the ground floor of the Independent condo tower, Codependent is designed for duality. Where day meets night. Dark meets light. And iconic Italian furniture is best appreciated with a glass of wine.

    They had no food because "the guy didn't show up". This place shows up high on the open table list as a choice for dinner. Disappointing.

    We sat outside, which was incredibly peaceful and chill, specifically under the fan. The Monday drink special is worth it, but we got the prosciutto flatbread which was a bit dry. Our waitress was super sweet but had a lot on her plate the day before a big holiday.

    Sub-par service, BUT it’s owned by a Residential group so what do ya expect. No food available, all toilet paper ran out, extremely loud music (like overly loud for 2pm) Needs new management! Fantastic drinks though.

    We were disappointed overall with the service and value at Codependent. We ordered an item that we were informed was unavailable at the time the remainder of the food we ordered was delivered. Someone other than our server came to our table, said they were out of the item we ordered and could get us anything else we’d like on the menu instead after apologizing. We then made three additional selections before choosing what ended up really being the only thing left they had. We requested the danish, the cinnamon knot, and one other pastry (can’t remember which one); after each request, we were told “oh, actually we don’t have that either….oh no, we’re out of that, too…..no, sorry we don’t have that either”. After making selection after selection of ‘any other item on the menu’, we finally asked for what our true options were; it was a blueberry muffin. The person that came to advise of us this referred to us as “dudes” as in “I’m sorry dudes” - keep in mind, we were a table of three women with two smaller children out for Mother’s Day brunch. Maybe she was trying to personalize a connection, but it came off as extremely dismissive and inappropriate, especially when I received the bill to find that a mimosa - a single glass of champagne with a splash of OJ - was $13. The two glasses of orange juice I ordered for my kids, which was served in a paper cup smaller than a rocks glass, was $4 each. The charcuterie board was advertised on the menu at $28, but was billed on the receipt at $32. Overall, overpriced and underwhelming. We likely won’t be back

    Came to celebrate our engagement. Extremely expensive for little drinks. Insane!!! They couldn’t seat us inside even though our reservation was made for inside. Had to sit in the rain outside. Waste of time and money.

    Nice vibe, decent drinks, but the food could’ve definitely been better. Do NOT recommend eating dinner menu items here. Breakfast and brunch menu items are “fair”, but I wouldn’t say they were great. The drinks are good, but definitely overpriced. The fact that this place stops serving food at 7pm is just silly and probably kills some profit potential. Ultimately, this place offers a solid vibe and espresso martini.

    We went for a friend’s birthday. Initially it was very loud but after 7-730 it quieted down some. While the cocktails were lovely and creative, it was a shame that no food is served after 7pm. (Hence the score is a bit out of place as w didn’t get to have food at all). Waiter Payton was very nice!

    Good place for drinks and music. Good ambience. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but not too bad. They serve appetizers but only until 7pm. I wish they served food late like 11pm. I like munching on something while I’m drinking

    Booked a reservation for a date night, arrived early for our time and waited for a table to be open, there were multiple events scheduled that night so we ended up having to sit at a table with other people, normally not terrible but why bother booking a table if you just end up having to share a table. They were way overbooked for reservations and made our first experience there, likely our last experience there.

    The overall atmosphere was nice, coffee was outstanding, got one water with no refill saw the server once for ordering once for paying out, one cocktail took 15mins, food was solid but underwhelming for the price point

    Unfortunately, I was unaware of the updated “screen time” policies and went to do work on my computer. After 4 pm, they have a strict no computer policy. Drinks, alcoholic and coffee, weren’t great. Wouldn’t suggest going if you’re trying to work remotely.

    Arrived for our reservation 15 minutes early and our Table was not ready We founds seats ourselves and then ordered drinks. Then we were told our table was ready and we moved. Our waitress was good and relocated us and brought us our drinks. Overall this place is great for a date talking one on one bug in a group the noise level is too loud unless you are sitting outside.

    My colleagues and I came here after work to meet (some of us for the first time) and celebrate a promotion! It was a great time hanging out here and the food and drinks were phenomenal! We would definitely come back here again!

    I wish I knew my server's name, so sweet & attentive! I have not had that level of genuine service in a long time! She had short black hair, let her know for us! Drinks & food were good! Would recommend changing some of the menu drinks, Way too many mezcal options!

    We had a reservation but we never got in because the bouncer was on a power trip and wouldn’t let anyone in. Even though many people left Codependent while we were in line and they weren’t at capacity. The bouncer seemed to be annoyed with some younger adults trying to get in and wouldn’t let them in or anyone else in line after them so the line to get in built up to a point that many people left without entering the establishment. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    We didn’t dine just went for drinks. The drink menu was long and I couldn’t find the wines by the glass which seemed odd. Loved the ambiance and music and we had great service. Just a bit confused by the menu. My opinion— could be edited.

    we had that worst service I've ever experienced in my life. The food was not as advertised and our server was apathetic when we told her what was supposed to be on the plate vs what was delivered to us. She took forever to get our drinks and food to us and every time we looked up to see if we could locate her, she was at a table taking shots with her friends. Even when we were trying to close our tab, she was MIA and ultimately we had to pay out through one of her colleagues. The place is cute but it was very loud. That coupled with the horrible service and disgusting food means we will never go there again.

    Can't really describe how ideal this place is. I loved their tequila + cold brew cocktail on happy hour. they also have friendly and prompt service, really good happy hour, comfortable seating, limited laptop use hours (for us who are there to forget work lol), and plentiful metered parking nearby. I'll be going back!

    Staff was extremely impolite. When my party arrived we were not greeted by the host and rudely asked to sit at the non-reservation table even though we had reservations 4+ weeks in advance. Very obvious staff was not properly trained to handle drinks. Many drinks toppled over while we were waiting for our own.

    We had a table reservation, came in earlier that day to confirm the reservation… Yet when we got there there was not a table available, instead we were given two seats that didn’t even face each other . The service was really good. The waitresses were very sweet but when I asked speak to the manager about the reservation, she clearly did not give a damn . The food was mediocre at best. I ate the egg soufflé earlier in the day . We left early and went down the street so we could converse and enjoy dinner. I would recommend this place during the day as a co-working space, or place to grab coffee. I would not recommend this for business meetings or planned reservations.
