Over the decades Continental Treat Fine Bistro has become the premier choice for anniversaries, birthdays, romantic dinners, wedding receptions and business dinners.     Victoria was a very friendly and attentive server, even being helpful with a few special requests. She allowed us to set the pace for the evening. High marks for her. The meal was delicious. The lamb was tender and perfectly prepared. The Beef Tatar delicious. No meal there is complete without a cup of dill pickle soup. Only question was why 2 TVs going in the back part? Victoria was most kind when I asked about turning one off, she did. All in all a great evening. Thank you

    As always they are fantastic my nephews and I have a tradition and come as much as possible for steak tartare . We generally come alone but had some family tag along. Then to our surprise my parents and aunts and uncles also decided to come on another reservation . So great to see everyone and enjoy the great service and great food ! Top notch place !

    Fantastic service and the food was drool worthy! When questions were raised about the ingredients (food allergy) it was taken seriously and investigated to make sure there would be no reaction. 100% will be coming back.

    My daughter and I had a quick supper before a show at the Citadel Theatre. Everything was wonderful, from the servers to the dill pickle soup and chicken schnitzel! And tiramisu! If I had one tiny complaint, it would be that it was jazz night and the musicians were far too amplified for the space they were performing in. We couldn’t hear each other speak! That aside, everything else was amazing and we are looking forward to our next meal at Continental Treat!

    The service is always consistently wonderful as is the food. The pickle soup and schnitzel are a “must try”. Everything is made from scratch and always comes out quickly. Unfortunately the only inconsistency here seems to be management. Sorely disappointed to see the lack of staff support as of late. Don’t misunderstand this review, we only gave 3 stars due to disappointment of staff treatment. Our group comes every week for happy hour and always have top notch service from our favourite server (apologies for forgetting the name. Big smile, curly hair). She always remembers our us and our “usuals”, she also has excellent suggestions whenever we feel like trying something new! During this visit, while waiting at the door to be seated we could see it was much busier than usual for Happy Hour. Our server was alone and despite this, the the new manager (I assume) sat in plain view of us and did not even acknowledge our group. Our server rushed over apologizing and seated us. Throughout service we observed our server (who’s arm was in a tensor bandage) and a new girl struggling to keep up with the rush. During this the manager was either sitting on her phone or wandering around aimlessly. Kudos to these girls for doing such a great job with zero support while maintaining a sunny disposition throughout all the chaos! also to the kitchen staff for food coming out fast and fresh despite it being so busy. These staff deserve a raise! Disappointingly we witnessed exactly the same situation again the following week, which prompted us to leave a review. We still intend on coming regularly as the atmosphere, food and staff make us feel like home. Hopefully they make some changes and learn to appreciate and support their servers!

    Imagine our delight to discover a gluten-free restaurant just a five minute walk from our hotel! The perogies were phenomenal, the best gluten-free perogies I've had since my celiac diagnosis over two decades ago. Perfectly cooked, doughy without being gooey, and oh my goodness the mushroom/sauerkraut stuffing was delicious, as was the accompanying mushroom gravy. Would definitely go back next time we are visiting Edmonton.

    the dill pickle soup was lovely as always! our server was very good and my colleague and I shared a soup sandwich combo which was the right amount for us. the potato salad is also the best I've had anywhere.

    I am celiac and absolutely love this restaurant. Big bonus that my family members all love it too. Best dill pickle soup ever and my meal was delicious. I love the potato salad and schnitzel! Staff is very welcoming and friendly and they were very nice about our energetic baby. They also made our baby a small side of plain mashed potatoes for her meal. Thank you!

    Everything we had was tasty, beautifully plated and GLUTEN FREE!!! So amazing to have such a delicious dinner, dessert and bread be a completely celiac friendly The servers were so friendly and pleasant, the ambiance was cozy and parking was free on Jasper Avenue -- an anomaly which we appreciated.

    This is a difficult review for me to write. Continental Treat is one of my favorite go to places. I attended the jazz night. The restaurant is very pleasant inside, just located in a decrepit part of down with inconvenient parking. But I also find it worth overlooking this for the food and music. What almost ruined the meal and evening for me was an over energetic patron who must have thought he was in a smoky New Orleans after hours jazz club. He was constantly yelling support and encouragement to the quartet (which was very good). His constant outburst (“tight”, “yes”, “you go”) was equivalent to a Harley driving by. Since I was only about six feet away, his enjoyment of the fine music pierced my skull. A day later, I can still hear his shouts. I finally gave up and instead of enjoying another drink and another hour of good music, I had to leave. I thought of asking to be moved, but after tolerating this for 90 minutes, my body and brain had enough. I’ll try another time because I like to support this fine restaurant. Hopefully, he won’t be back.

    So grateful to have such a high quality gluten free restaurant in our city. It is a go to on our theatre nights for everyone, including our friends that are NOT gluten free eaters. Staff is always knowledgable and friendly. It is always the start of a great evening.

    Our group of six friends were excited to visit the new location in the old WW Arcade building. Having been to their Whyte Ave location many times we already new the food was excellent. Upon arrival we all agreed the old building was beautiful and unique. Excited for our evening we were sat at the furthest table one could sit. Unsure why as the space was no where near full. Anyways the waiter came by to take our drink order. This is when the evening turned to difficult. He would not speak at a level all of us could hear, even after requesting in speak up. Again the space wasn’t busy, full or otherwise loud. English not being his first language his accent made it challenging to understand especially at a low volume. We got through that. Drinks arrived 20 minutes later which seemed like a long time for cocktails to be created. Appetizers were ordered. Three soups, a salad and an escargot. 45 minutes later they arrived. 45 minutes? Our drinks had run out with no offer to replace. Our water glasses empty. Pickle soup and sauerkraut soup excellent…what a treat. My friend Caesars salad had literally no dressing. As the appetizers were delivered we ordered our main course. Nothing complicated at all. Four of us had their pork schnitzel, one the goulash, one the portobello schnitzel and lastly one ordered the chicken pirogies. Ready for this?….1 hour and 20 minutes later the food arrived. Please bare in mind the restaurant had maybe eight tables on the go so by far a quiet night. The food was absolutely amazing (what we all had become accustomed to) accept our Frieda pirogies were at best warm. Sent back to the kitchen. 25 minutes later a fresh plate arrived. By now the rest of us were nearly done our meals but he never complained. The new plate was only marginally warmer then the first. How hard is it to boil pirogies? After the manager came by to inquire about our meals and apologize for his cold pirogies she offered to remove them from the bill

    There was plenty of space between tables, and the lighting was at a nice, low level, with the sun still coming through the large windows. Our server was very attentive, accommodating with any special menu requests, and very personable. Food presentation was on point, portions were more than satisfying, and everything tasted delicious. Prices were comparable to places selling fancy hamburgers, but these dishes were so much better.

    We came for the lunch special and the schnitzel plate was very good. The salads were not quite as good as usual and they were out of the draft beer which we normally quite enjoy but the atmosphere and pleasant service made up for it!

    First time visit; such a treat to eat knowing everything is gluten free. From the appetizers; pickle soup, perogies, to the delicious cabbage rolls. No one would guess it was gluten free. We will most definitely be back; and that’s from my husband also who isn’t on a gf diet. We were too stuffed to try desserts; we’ll have to save room for the next time ! Such an amazing establishment. Our hostess was incredible too!

    We have been 3 times before and throughly enjoyed it, but last night was not great. The service was very slow even though they were not busy, the waitress was great but said there was staffing shortages. When the food came it was not hot and potatoes were actually cold! My brother ordered “rack of lamb” and it was not a rack, it was only a 1/2 rack, so the menu needs to be corrected. Was a disappointment compared to other visits!

    Amazing experience at Continental Treat Fine Bistro. My husband I loved the historic cenue, and the moody maximalist/industrial décor. The service was amazing, our waitress was so knowledgeable, genial, and accommodating. Food was out of this world, as a celiac, I loved being overwhelmed with the options and the flavors. We ordered extra to take home because we wanted to try so much. I will recommend this place to everyone I know. I cannot wait to come back again soon.

    Was a little skeptical about going to the restaurant when I discovered it was in an area with several homeless people. Decided to attempt it anyway. The food was outstanding. Went again the next night to try something different on the menu. Again, it was excellent. If you don't mind seeing homeless people on the streets in the neighborhood you will have a great experience.

    We were a table of 5 people. Everyone's meals were exceptional, except for mine. I didn't make a fuss while I was there. We periodically come here as a group and I always order the same thing (my favourite), pork schnitzel sandwich with a side of fries. The fries were very greasy (old oil or not hot enough), and the sandwich must have sat for a while before it was delivered. Everyone is allowed an off day! We will definitely be back. If it happens again (and I'm sure it will not) I will be sure to tactfully point it out at the time.

    My nephews two twin 7 year olds go quite often for steak tartar and a nice finish of the Black Forest cake it’s always a wonderful experience .
