Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Oak Park
the service was good but a little slow particularly for drinks - it was moderately buasy
Despite the reservation, which we were very much on time for, we still had to wait about 15 minutes to get a seat. Other than that, it was a very nice night out. Food was pretty good and the wine flights are definitely worth it.
Very busy place but the staff can keep up without problems. Best wine tasting. Wine is amazing! Stick to the drinks and appetizers and you're in for a good time!
Food and service was good. Noise level too loud
Dinner selections were good but the chocolate cake we will not order again. The chocolate was more icing than cake.
If you want to really experience Cooperhawks go to any location except Oak Park.
The restaurant is very large and pristine. The opposite of a neighborhood place. Lots of servers but the service wasn’t especially personal. Prices were a little high for the quality of the meals. I thought it was okay but not my favorite in Oak Park.
It was quite noisy due to a couple right next to us watching videos on their phone with the volume turned up and not using headphones. I thought they were being extremely rude. We had to move to another table. Even then we could hear them across the restaurant. I am shocked nobody from management intervened because people were starting at them. Service was also really slow. Our server was great but food was not coming out of the kitchen very fast. Dinner took over 2 hours.
Awesome food, and staff, Im a member here and I always like the food.
From the street, the restaurant shone like a diamond at night through the all-glass windows. Walking through the wine shop built anticipation and set the mood for what was to come. We were led through the modern, graciously-lit dining room to our booth. It was cozy and spacious, and despite being near a large party, surprisingly quiet.
Our server was busy, and self-admittedly, not as attentive as he should have been. He made up for it on his own via healthy wine and sangria pours and a free dessert. Again, this was without me saying a thing—a classy and appreciated gesture.
Everything we ate was excellent. From the “house favorite” appetizers, and the (secret) sangria flight and house reserve wine blend, to the hearty entrees, all were delicious, generously portioned, and value-priced.
My wife and I ate like royalty for a fraction of what we would have dining in downtown Chicago. We will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommended!
Our waitress Kaitlyn was awesome. We had our own private area so we were pleased.
I just want to say that our server, Jo was fantastic! We have been to this restaurant several times and usually sit in the bar area because we like the servers and atmosphere, the few times we ate in the restaurant area we had bad service. Thus time we came with another couple and had to go to the restaurant area, we were greatly pleased with Jo our server he made everything much better than the previous visits including his recommendation on food and appetizers!
I have an earlier review of Coopers Hawk with a higher rating. This visit we did the cheese board again and while it was very good the parmesan was not good. The cheese seemed very dry as if the pieces were cur too close to the rind or were left out exposed to air for way too long. It wasn't as buttery as it should have been. However the stracciatella was amazing as always. I ordered the Southern grilled shrimp and polenta. I meant to ask about the polenta and forgot to. The polenta is served soft- like the consistency of grits. Had I asked I would not have ordered this. My wife ordered the gnocchi with butternut squash. It was rich -and delicious- and rich. We also ordered our favorite side salad to share, the shaved brussel sprouts salad. That was fantastic as usual. One last thing, I will mention, I ordered the Coopers Hawk Margarita and imo is was meh. Overall, while this visit wasn't as good as visits in the past I still love Coopers Hawk and will be back.
This was our 2nd time at this location. We brought our children for a family date night and our children loved it. The food is great and the service cannot be matched. We already have another night out planned.
First visit to the Oak Park location. Food and service excellent just a little bit too noisy but an overall great time
Amazing atmosphere, food and wine. Alex the waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and was very pleasant. Thank you!!!
I've been to several locations and this location is one of the worst for food quality.
A great place for fine dining. Good decor, good lighting and great space. A little bit pricy but I guess we pay for the atmosphere, ambiance and good location.
We had a nice table for 5, excellent placement in the restaurant. None of us drink alcohol so cannot say anything about it although we watched from our elevated area how other people are served with the wine aerator. Fun to observe alcohol drinking.
I took my husband here for his birthday and he absolutely loved it
This was our first time here and we went for lunch. It was very overpriced for lunch. I don’t have a problem with the dinner menu pricing as long as the food and service are on point.
The food was delicious and service was amazing but $40 for two orders of spaghetti and meatballs just isn’t worth it.
Will try again for dinner.
New Years Eve Dinner
This was for a New Year's Eve dinner and we were recommended to go for the steak and seafood. The steak for myself was barely cooked, I asked for medium well with very little pink. My steak was still mooing, and far from being hot. My spouse requested medium well as well and he was delivered a dry over well cooked steak. My seafood (crab cake) was soggy and still had crab shell or bone in it and lacked flavor. Service was not the best either. the table next to us was checked on every 10 minutes - not an exaggeration as we started timing it, and this was the same waitress for myself and my spouse. When we would try to get her attention, she would nod in acknowledgement and then walk off when done conversing with the other table. In addition, it took 8-10 minutes from being seated for the waitress to come and great us and we did not receive our drinks (WATER) until 5 minutes before our meal came, after she brought the bread to the table. By the time she checked on us we were ready to go and she pointed out the steak looked raw. the only resolution to the poor service and experience was one free dessert and a free espresso. It would have been nice had she asked use when first receiving our food if the meat was cooked, but she did not bring it and the server that did just set the plates down and walked off. If I had the opportunity to send the steak and crab cakes back to be cooked longer I would probably have a better opinion of this restaurant. The service and the cooking are far from making me want to give this place another try.
Great time celebrating the New Year!
The service was the worst I have ever had in a Cooper’s hawk restaurant the manager got to my table 5 seconds before I went to find him. The wine that I ordered never arrived after 1/2 hour the waitress told me they were out of that wine so I ordered a sample of 2 other wines 1 arrived after the floor manager arrived and immediately brought me a bottle of my 3rd choice. If it wasn’t for Chris the floor manager getting on our waitress the night would have been a disaster thank you Chris for making it tolerable
Food average, small portions.
By the time I got home I was hungry. Wouldn’t recommend other than for wine tasting.
Went on New Years Eve and really appreciated having an early dinner with a very attentive server.
My wife and I spent a New Years Eve dinner at Coopers Hawk with friends. The food was delicious, the wine was smooth and the atmosphere was just what we needed!
Well done. We will be back soon
Our server wasn't very enthusiastic except for when she interacted with the birthday girl. We had to ask about the wine of the month instead of being told about it during the introduction. Plus she slammed the drinks down so I'm not sure if she just has a heavy hand or if she was upset. Other than that, the food tasted good and this experience won't discourage us from dining here again.
Good Food, Great Service, Convenient Location!
Cooper's Hawk was great...my only beef was with "Open Table" and their coordination with the restaurant. I made the reservation in my husband's name...the confirmation from Open Table listed his name...but when I got to the restaurant, there was no reservation! Weirdly however, I had them search and search and they found our reservation under my maiden name! All I can think is that somehow that name for me was associated with the email address I used ...so the reservation used that name. But that is very screwy because WHY would the reservation confirmation I got list the name I made the reservation under "Timothy " but the restaurant would have no record of that and put the reservation under " Knight".
they almost lost a sale...and you may lose a customer too
Had a girls night out w/ my sister, sister n law & great friend. The appetizers, entree and the wine were delicious and I'm not just saying that because I'm a wine club member
For the price - I wasn’t impressed with the serving size or quality of the food. Both my boyfriend and I were delivered food on very greasy plates full of fingerprints which turned me off to my food. The only thing I appreciated was the complimentary bread and my Rosè that I waited nearly 20 mins for. I may have gone on an off night but for what we paid, I expected more.
I really love going to cooper hawk and so does my family. That is why we decided to take my daughter to have a celebration dinner for her birthday. I made reservations at 8 and it took a while to get seated. Which is typical because it is so busy especially during the weekend. I didn’t mind the wait.
We finally get our table and as we are walked to our table we find that the table was still dirty from the last guest sitting there. My poor hostess had to try to clean this whole table by herself as we were standing around waiting. The poor girl apologized like ten times. I felt bad and felt like I should help her as she was doing all of this on her own. We finally sit and let me start with our waiter was the best and as always so was the food but the disappointing things about the evening were that they had ran out of my favorite wine “ sparkling almond” and that the service was extremely slow due to the restaurant being so busy. I love coming here to eat but please really look into having better service and more help on weekends when you are busy. Again my waiter was awesome but I feel that it gets too busy in the restaurant and everything goes crazy and the attention is the one that suffers in the long run.
Please improve your service during busy times because I feel that I takes away from the awesome experience that I have come to love.
Wine tasting staff is superb
We were there for our anniversary on 12/27. My sister ordered wine for us and our daughter ordered champagne. Neither were delivered. When we got home we received an Email that we had missed our reservation through Open Table. I had made the reservation directly with the restaurant. They later apologized for the misunderstanding. This confusion was a major disappointment. We won't be back.
The food was mediocre and expensive. Certainly not quality delicious food for the price. However service was great.
Had a girls night out with co-workers. Enjoyed the wine tasting and food selection. We ordered different appetizers and they were delicious. Even though it was extremely busy, the staff was very attentive, patient and professional.
We have been here for a few times but the most recent experience was below our expectations on food, else everything else went smoothly.
Excellent. Great Service. Delicious food and wine for all. Treat
