Coquille Fine Seafood
Dinner: 5:00pm - 10:30pm
Great experience, awesome service!
Nico ... manager ... has been awesome !
He made the experience a coming back one ...
I was a bit disappointed by the sailor’s platter. There was sauce on the crab which to my opinion doesn’t fit. That was sauce on the shellfish also. I also think that the plate was too expensive for what was in it. But the oysters were very good and we enjoyed the area and the wine that we had. So I don’t know if I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Very disappointing. We arrived during happy hour, they were out of octopus, which judging from the restaurant's decor (octopus at entry and octopus prints on the wall), should have been a feature dish. Bummer. Since they call themselves "Fine Seafood", I was expecting the scallop appetizer to be seared - it was fried. The broiled oysters and fritto misto (deep fried seafood), were good but the burrata was boring. For mains we ordered spaghetti with clams $21, lobster risotto $28 and bouillabaisse $29. The spaghetti with shriveled up tasteless clams were embarrassing and looked more like a side dish. The bouillabaisse was fishy, and not in a good way. The clams and mussels were off. Bleh! The lobster risotto was the best dish of the night and had a decent amount of lobster pieces. We ended the meal with a banana cream pie which was, again, nothing to write home about. We shared one slice and still left half of it behind. Good thing we arrived during happy hour so our bottle of house white was half price ($30) coz our bill still came to $225 for 3 people after 15% tip. So not worth it!
The house salad was excellent and so was the ling cod but the rest of our appetizers and meal were a bit disappointing considering this restaurant was referred to us by a couple who said it was their favourite.
I liked the food, service and atmosphere but what is holding this place back is the wine list. The wine is over priced and there is a poor selection. Only a few bottles under $80 and house red wine starts at $63 for a bottle.
We only have 2 categories for restaurants we visit, "Repeat" or "not Repeat".
This was definitely a Repeat. Excellent quality. Had the steamed mussels for lunch, best in town.
Excellent service, very clean, great value for price. Recommend sharing the dishes for an outstanding dinning experience.
Wonderful and generous happy hour small plates. Very good cocktail, I had my favorite, the boulvardier, and they did an outstanding version. My trout was outstanding and cooked perfectly. It could have been a little warmer. Danielle was our server, as she was last time too. She is warm, efficient and very helpful. I'd say that this is my favorite Vancouver seafood restaurant now. In particular, I was happy that the music was either turned down low or not there are all. We all appreciated this. (We are tired of fighting restaurants who have loud music so I have to yell and either ignore me or look offended if I ask for the volume to be low.)
Coquille is a really good seafood place where to taste real seafood . Very simple cuisine, it makes it all the taste even better because the seafood isn’t ruined (too many place especially in North America using too many sauces and condiments) .In my opinion , maybe the seafood platter is a bit too expensive (a range 35/45 dollars for the small one is more realistic) , especially compared to the main course is really high but it really well done and really good . desert really good as well.
Underwhelming to say the least. Food is just very bleh. Nothing wrong with it. Just bleh. What I tasted can best be described as a lack of innovation and passion. Lower the prices by 30% and I would’ve accepted it as a neighbourhood go-to. I wanted to like this place but sorry, you guys need to step it up.
Food was good, brought to our table rather quickly. That said, never felt rushed. Rock & roll playing in the background seemed strange. Overall a nice night.
A nice selection of oysters and mains. Will definitely return.
The service was excellent and the food was very creative and very fresh. It was pricey, but worth it!
Delicious seafood and beautiful presentation. Service was great. Appetizers and entrees were served at a nice pace and the entire dining experience was not rushed.
Just a great experience. Highly recommended. Went for happy hour and basically tried everything! We'll be back!
We had our anniversary dinner there and they provided 2 glasses of sparkling wine on the house. The waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant. Food was good and we took advantage of the great happy hour specials. We chose to bring our own bottle of wine which was not on the menu and paid the corkage fee. My only complaint is that the fee is $30. Way too much. Often we bring a bottle and buy another at the restaurant. I feel it is unnecessary to charge that much. We like to bring our own as we often feel the mark up is very high or we don’t see anything on the list we wish to purchase.
Great food and overall great experience
I read about this place a couple month ago when it first opened and was intrigued to try it as my boyfriend and I love seafood and love Gastown. This place far exceeded our expectations. It was our anniversary and as soon as we sat down, a server came over to bring us a glass of champagne. I thought that was a nice touch. From there, the evening continued to get better. Our server was amazing. Everything she recommended was fabulous. She was quick and super friendly. We will definitely be back.
Very good food, cooked well and served in a polished but friendly manner, so many times a restaurant in a busy tourist area struggles with demand to the detriment of service and quality , the attentiveness of the staff is subtle and their attention to detail excellent, they are a credit to their training and the business
Everything was fresh and tasty! The oysters were amazing to start with. I had the lobster risotto which was flavorful and rich. My husband had cod that was delicate and prepared well. The bread, though, was the highlight. Best bread ever. I’d go back alone for that 😂
The restaurant is nice, staff is great. Very slow to get the food. The food was good, except for the eggplant parmasan. There was no love in this dish. Bland. They completely missed the mark on this.
Every coast city is known for its seafood offerings, and Coquille presents the best of Vancouver in a beautiful location with a down-to-earth fine dining experience. The full range from drinks and raw fare to cooked seafood mains was to die for. Will return for sure.
It was just okay. We ordered the seafood platter for two. The shrimp were small and shriveled up. There was one lobster claw with a teaspoon of meat in it.
I loved Coquille! I am actually surprised I haven't been there before. Service was amazing, from the moment you walked in the door. Drinks were lovely, food recommendations were well thought out from the server. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for food was the bouillabaisse was ...eh. l feel like for a seafood-based restaurant a dish like that should shine, and it was lacklustre. Thankfully the other 5 dishes we ordered were all outstanding!
Overall a very good dining experience on our visit to Vancouver. We had our 5 year old grandson and he was treated very nicely.
Great time with staff, whole baked fish was outstanding !
The service was so slow and the portions for thr price was not enough
Disappointed. Cute establishment, attentive and nice service, but food was not good. Raw seafood texture was tough and off-putting. Sauce on everything. Seriously underwhelmed by everything we tried.
The service was phenomenal. Best we have received in any restaurant in years. Great atmosphere on patio on on a beautiful day in Gastown. Food was good too.
Having experienced fine dining at sister restaurant L’Abbatoir we decide to try out the newer Coquille down the block in Gastown. We enjoyed a tasty spiced octopus appetizer, then shared marvelous main plates of Halibut and lobster risotto. Our dinner was enhanced by our server Mandy who was knowledgeable on the locally sourced ingredients. We will return.
After having recently dined at this restaurant, we had decided to bring friends as we had quite a good experience. However we had a much different experience on this visit. Overall we were quite disappointed. The service was perfunctory and not engaging. The seafood platter was acceptable but by no means outstanding. One of our party order the tuna club. This meal was sent back as unacceptable. The tuna was extremely salty and seem to be composed some sort of dried marinated tuna flakes. My wife and I had the branzino special. This was served as a whole fish. This is quite a common serving preparation for this fish. However, it was brought to the table unprepared and were given no direction as to how to appropriately serve. Fortunately, we’ve had the opportunity to have branzino served in this matter before, and were taught how to release the fillets and serve the fish. However, we were given no tools to create and serve fillets other than the knife and fork that were already on our table. In most good restaurants the fish would have been prepared and reassembled into a whole fish for service, or the waiter would perform this task at the table. From an atmosphere perspective, the lighting was far too bright. High top tables have bright lights at eye level, and in the main room the waitress informed us that they were unable to dim the lights any further. This gave a rather cafeteria like ambience to the room. Overall, not a great experience.
Fantastic experience! First rate food and service! Will be back again for sure.
Great food and service we had. I had the steamed halibut and it is done perfectly. Will go back again!
Great appetizer selections, would come back
Good for small groups (4) cuz you get to share food, and it's quiet enough to have a conversation. Get the seafood platter, but know that it's mostly raw. We sat outside to enjoy the fresh air. Inside has funky elizabethian-like high backed seats. Nice washrooms, new experience seeing individual toilet closets. They're modern/new..much nicer than the scary washrooms in most Gastown establishments! It's in the safer part of Gastown, so nice to walk around pre/post dinner.
We had the roasted rock fish with artichokes, accompanied by the broccolini, both were truly outstanding!
I ordered the seafood salad nicoise and was disappointed.Very small portion for the price.
My friend ordered the halibut -very $ and it did not come with vegetables.
Dear team of the Coquille restaurant. We have had the best dinner during our 3 weeks roundtrip through western part of Canada. Our waiter "Hannes" is a very smart young man and he did his job excellent. Unfortunately we can not visit your restaurant more often, because we live in Germany. But we are sure your new restaurant will be successful over many years.

We were pleasantly surprised how great the whole experience was. We would recommend this restaurant in a heart beat! Great staff too
