Food and service remain top notch, as always. Truly one of the best restaurants in the city, almost comically underappreciated. The 5-courses-for-$70 or 3-courses-for-$30 at the bar are the best deals in town.
We celebrated a friend's birthday at Corduroy last night and had an extraordinary dinner. We four chose the tasting menu and every course was excellent, interesting and ample. The service was professional: helpful and not intrusive. The chef had great pacing of the courses and, of course, is responsible for a five-star meal.
We had the restaurant arrange for wine pairings and three of us shared several different splits which for us was perfect.
On top of everything else, the room was warm, light and quiet. And, last but not least, the price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meal.
Go to Corduroy!
All in all, my partner and I were very pleased with the five-course tasting menu on New Year’s Eve. The outstanding dishes seemed to arrive every other course: the squash soup amuse bouche, the bigeye tuna with sushi rice, and the charcoal grilled prime beef with lyonnaise potatoes and French green beans. We were given two different desserts: the chocolate kit-kat bars and the the brioche bread pudding. Both were outstanding! Finally, for those watching their alcohol intake and their wallets, know that the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir by the glass are more than acceptable. Best wishes to all at Corduroy for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!
Fixed price tasting menu had an excellent selection- well worth the money for the excellent quality of food.
Christmas dinner was great. took off stars because the tobacco smell from the cigar shop next door was heavy enough to disturb some members of our party.
Good: Food was good. Wine selection was good.
Service was terrible. Wait 10 minutes at the empty check-in counter. Once sit at table, wait another 10 minutes for our waitress to show up. When the order is placed, wait 20 minutes for the first course to arrive. After the first course is done, wait another 40 minutes for the main course.
Except for the time that the wine bottle was first opened, our waitress never once pour wine for us.
The men's restroom was very very filthy.
The restaurant is adjacent to a cigar shop. There is a strong cigarette/tobacco smell throughout the meal.
This meal was for our anniversary. We will never return.
Amazing Christmas Day Dinner. Everything was perfect. They seemed a little understaffed but also understandable given it was a holiday. Can't recommend enough
Great food, good wine. Enjoyed the menu. Attention is also quite good.
Wonderful restaurant with superb food and drinks. Service was lovely and the look of the restaurant is chic and low key. I will echo the complaints of others that the smell of smoke from the adjoining cigar shop is a drawback but you don't notice it after a few minutes. We watched two parties ask to be switched from the table next to us soon after sitting down but they should have just waited a few minutes.
I will definitely be back.
Christmas Eve experience
EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING THE WAITER NEW THE MENU INSIDE AND OUT AND PROVIDED GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS
I took two clients who were both foodies to Corduroy last night and it was fabulous! Each course was a blend of flavors, textures and colors. It was great for both your taste buds as well as your eyes.
We ordered the tasting menu and each course is enough to give you a sense of the food without overpowering your palate or leaving you feeling stuffed. The Chef and staff work hard to allow you to savor each dish without feeling rushed. It's truly an enjoyable evening.
Chef served us Madai which is Japanese sea bream. It was one of the best fish dishes I have eaten in my life. It may have squeezed out his spectacular tuna with sushi rice to be my new favorite!
Wonderful to find that “white tablecloth” dining in a quiet space still exists in today’s noisy world…
A class act. 4 of us on a Saturday nite. Delicious, intimate dining experience!
Corduroy started out on a strong note, with classy ambiance and staff that respected masking requirements, and provided excellent cocktails recommendations. Things were going well with a very good tuna tartar appetizer, and a spectacular crab special, but quickly deteriorated for the main course. I don't know if chef's hand just shook the salt shaker into the pot, but the bisque and the roast chicken were more salt then meat. The rare pepper tuna was over-seared (admittedly, the pepper crust was excellent). Deserts managed to salvage the situation somewhat, with a great boozy pana cota, but it was an uphill battle at that point.
Absolutely one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The menu is short, but each item is absolutely fabulous. I loved the creativity in the cuisine. Fusion with Japanese cuisine was absolutely perfect.
Deserts were awesome and very unique. Attention to detail in all aspects.
Cocktails were okay. Deep wine menu, but limited by the glass. We really didn't need a full bottle, but no big deal.
Will absolutely come back again.
FYI the outside signage is small. We walked by and then turned around.
Great food - great meal! You could smell The cigar store located next store which could be hard for some - for us it was ok!
First rate: excellent food, service, and MBR 's. A pleasure to die in here: one of the best restaurants in Washington in my opinion
The food was amazing. We did the tasting menu and wine pairing. Our server missed one of our pairings with the second course so that was a bit of a let down. The dishes sat on the table for awhile and when they came to pour our next wine selection the glasses were all dirty. This could be a result of understaffing right now so we didn’t let it impact the tip or anything. The food and wine itself were great. The atmosphere is clean, modern, and upscale. Only complaint is sitting closeish to the door and the smell of smoke wafting in really made it difficult to enjoy our food toward the end.
Superb meal as always. Skip the menu; just ask Chef Power to cook for you. $70 for 5 courses is one of the best deals in town. Wash it down with a bargain French wine and pat yourself on the back for a superlative evening.
A bit disappointed about the experience. The entire restaurant was full of smoke from the kitchen. The smoke alarm even went off. The wait staff were very nice, but they did not seem to acknowledge that the room is full of smoke.
Dinners at Corduroy------Years of pleasure. Thank you!
We return to Corduroy again and again for the excellent food. The menu is small but everything is delicious. The cocktails are made with care and top shelf ingredients. But the deciding factor for us is that we can dine with friends and hear each other. It's a small place with tables spaced so that you are not listening to your neighbors' conversations. Parking is iffy (no close garages) so Uber might be your best bet.
I tried the 5 course tasting menu. They were all nice and the service was so professionally done. Only thing I didn't like was the cigarette. The smell was so strong that bothered alot. But other than that, the ambient was nice
Food was outstanding
Delightful place to dine. Good spacing between the tables. Excellent and interesting food choices with reasonable prices for a restaurant in an expensive city with high restaurant prices. Wine list is excellent, but pricy. Good values are there if you consult with the sommelier. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Main courses were a little slow to arrive, but the overall quiet atmosphere made conversation with friends easy.
I had Thanksgiving dinner with my mother, brother and husband and very much enjoyed the experience. We were expected by the staff and taken to a table right away. The table was set for four, but a server had to get a fourth chair. This was done quickly and with some apology. The waitstaff was attentive, answering questions and bringing drinks as soon as possible. Our food was delicious and I felt that my main course was the perfect size. I'd visit this restaurant again when it isn't a major holiday -- it was clear that the staff was working hard to make sure every patron was happy.
Excellent food and service. Noise level was good, we could hear each other speaking in a normal tone of voice during most of the dinner.
Fabulous Thankgiving dinner. Wonderful choices; each of which was excellent. Service was friendly and first rate. A delightful experience on a holday.
Not the level of service as when we last visited six or seven years ago. Soups which took an hour to arrive and were lukewarm. Main courses which arrived at the one and a half hour mark and, while good, were not necessarily noteworthy. The table next to us was seated long after we arrived and was the same group size, yet received their meals a half hour before us despite ordering off of the same prix fixe menu. Food is not worthy of the price point and service is so slow that conversation starts to falter and the meal became tiresome.
Perhaps because it was Thanksgiving but the serice was very very slow (over half an hour between courses).
My go to restaurant for Thanksgiving.
Extraordinary service. The food and ambiance were outstanding.
It was a stiff and starch atmosphere and the food was too sweet. The waitstaff was great however
Wonderful experience. Going back three times (including tomorrow). Very convenient for convention attendees.
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary - service was outstanding and food/drinks were to die for! Exceeded expectations.
Fantastic meal. Excellent wine list. Perfect cocktails.
The food was wonderful as was the atmosphere. The service staff was over taxed as are many these days. Our service was wonderful everything considered.
This is worth going to. They also have to remember the weakest link theory. We ordered the tasting menu which, other than the roasted salmon was stellar. The servers were mostly clueless except for the captain/sommelier who was outstanding. For food this quality this says mismanagement to me. And don’t blame Covid! They work here! Train your staff it makes more money for the restaurant.
Excellent food, great service, nice setting. Difficult to find, tucked away, but worth the dining experience
