Our second visit to Core was even better than our first, which is saying a lot! My husband and I opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings, and from the first taste of the bread with house-churned butter, straight through to the scrumptious panna cotta at the end of the meal, every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The tuna tataki and the sturgeon were particular standouts, but honestly, every course was a hit, as was the paired wine. Between the food, and the perfect mix of cool-plus-casual ambiance, Core is officially our new go-to spot.
A real gem of a restaurant in Leslieville, featuring a constantly changing chef's menu. Portions are small but beautifully crafted, and the service is impeccable.
We celebrated our daughter’s convocation at Core. The atmosphere was lovely. We started with delicious handcrafted cocktail. Shared olives and oysters for the table along with house made bread. We each had starters and mains which were paired with good wine. The food was fantastic. Our server was one of the best we have had. Two in our party are chefs and their praise was quite high for this restaurant.
What a spot. I had the best Martini in my life, excellent food, excellent service.......my new favorite on Queen East.
Always great! Staff, food and wine are top notch .
Second time at Core was just as good as the first. Top notch creative food and excellent wine pairings. Great value for 5 courses and wine pairing. Foodies should check this restaurant out.
Had the tasting menu and wine pairing for a special collaboration dinner with Richmond Station. I was excited to try this place from all the rave reviews. My boyfriend is an incredible chef and EXTEMELEY picky with food so I decided this might be a good choice since he loves Richmond Station. The ambience, service, were great, the chefs came out to intro all the dishes which was fun. The presentation and wine pairing were beautiful, however, the food taste was ok but lacking seasoning and flavour. Very average. We were disappointed with the lack of flavour from all the dishes, but again our palate is used to a certain level of taste. I was disappointed that my boyfriend didn’t really like it at all.
Very good flavours, beautiful presentation, amazing value!
Food was very good. We had the chef’s tasting menu. My companion doesn’t like lamb, while I love it, so we asked if there would be lamb. Apparently there was going to be lamb, but they could do something else for my companion. In the end, they gave her beef and me pork(?!?!) for the main meat course. While the pork was very good, I was disappointed. In the end, I was not hungry, but not full either, although my companion was full. The presentations of the food were beautiful and very creative. However, I do not feel the meal was worth what we paid for it.
Service was attentive and good, but oddly stiff. One of the waiters was much more relaxed.
We both had the tasting menu. I tried the vegetarian and my husband had the regular one with wine pairings. The food was fantastic! The food was fresh tasting with local ingredients. The service was amazing. I will be back again soon.
Tasting menu very good
We had an array of dishes - not the tasting menu but ordered tapas style and had mark pair the wines. The tomato salad was outstanding - required bread to soak up the remnants it was so tasty. Scallop dish is a favorite and the halibut and sturgeon are very strong summer additions.
Will be back for sure my next visit to Toronto.
Great experience overall on our first visit to Core. Service, food and wine pairings were all top notch!
I had bigger hopes for this place. Don't get me wrong, the food was tasty but MUCH smaller portions than anticipated for the cost. I had more of an issue with the service....our waiter served our food THEN proceeded to clear the appetizer plates and extra glasses. Very annoying. Also, my wine glass sat empty for quite a while before I decided to fill it on my own. I got halfway through filling my guests glass when the waiter ran over and pulled the bottle from my hands. Overall, the food was good but I won't go back....there's just much better places to spend my money in the neighbourhood.
we very much enjoyed our evening at core...the staff is excellent...friendly, informed and attentive without being overbearing....and the food was outstanding....would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to friends...
Wine recommendations weren't a good match with our meal.
We had the tasting menu and it was ok.
It was an amazing experience with the food and the service. The wine they introduce for this month was perfect for the summer and very satisfying. I highly recommend this restaurant and will visit often whenever they change and serve seasonal dishes.
Great experience from start to finish. Excellent tasting menu and service. Fantastic value overall.
Unbelievable care and thought goes into the food preparation. Great variety on the tasting menu. Excellent value wine selections
Very relaxed and friendly service
The food was good but the portions were tiny. Service could be better given that they have already been open for 2 1/2 months.
Creative cuisine and fine dining in Leslieville. Really enjoyed the tasting menu and the wine pairings. Appreciated the tasting notes from the server and the accommodation the chef made for the pescatarian.
Fantastic night. Recommend the chef's menu with the wine pairings. Try it now before Toronto finds out about this place and we can't get a table anymore.
A must for foodies! Michelin restaurant level food has come to Leslieville. I highly recommend the tasting menu with the premium wine tasting. The price level is fantastic for the quality of the dishes and the quality of the wine. Excellent service that explained the servings and the wine. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make the experience that much better.
Service and food at Core are outstanding. We were there for a date night and loved every dish from the spectacular Chef’s tasting menu. What a great addition to the neighborhood; I can’t wait to go back!
Food and service top notch. Definitely worth trying the tasting menu and wine pairing. Or take advantage of their wine specials. Service from the whole staff was above and beyond.
The food is bang on amazing, the service is friendly and engaging as well as lightning quick... and the wine pairings elevated every dish and each dish was even more stunning with the wines. Fun and fantastic experience
The food was delicious, the wine pairing was good. We were told the tasting menu portions were not the same portions as the a la carte options but looking at our neighboring table who did take the tasting menu, it seemed that per entree the portion sizes were similar. It would appear doing the tasting menu is a better value. I am not a big eater but my husband is. He would have liked the tasting menu but we were told that it would be suggested that the entire table take the tasting menu option. I don’t feel that it’s fair if I am already ordering an entree that my husband can’t order the tasting menu. Otherwise the food was extremely well prepared.
This is the restaurant Leslieville has been missing. The wine list is well thought out and the food is better than George. It’s slightly pricey, but the quality is there, which makes it worth it. The ingredients are locally sourced when possible and there are plenty of Ontario wine options as well. I can’t say enough about how good this place is. Please go and tell your friends.
We had the tasting menu with premium wine pairing and it was very good.
Love the wine and food pairings
We had another wonderful meal. This was my third visit, and my guest loved it. The food and wine pairing is exceptional, and the service excellent.
Great service, good food
All around excellent experience. Highly recommend the tasting menu. The room itself is very well designed and even when full and lively easy to carry on a discussion.
Really a true gem in Leslieville.
A really well run well oiled machine...surprising how well, since they’ve only been open for a few weeks......
Great menu selections and the wine pairings are as good as anywhere in Toronto....
Wish I lived in this neighbourhood cause I’d go here 3 Times/week
We had an amazing time at this new restaurant in Leslieville. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was incredible, especially the lamb. This restaurant has a great vibe. We went for our anniversary and were very glad that we chose this spot. Highly recommended.
Amazing birthday experience. The staff are incredible and food was outstanding and with stellar wine pairings!
A step up in food experience for this neighbourhood, the menu was very eclectic, presentation of food was pleasing, the service was downtown professional and the overall experience was very satisfying.
Highly recommend the scallop appetizer and duck breast entre - my favourites. The Spanish mackeral was also suprisingly light a flavourful without being fishy.
Wine list has some really interesting and reasonably priced choices. It is worth a visit if you want a foodie experience without having to go downtown.
We had the prix-fixe with the premium wine pairing. The owner/sommelier is very knowledgeable, and the service and food selections by the chef were all excellent. We will return.
Tuesday nice dinner with a friend for a glass of wine, good food and a nice chat! Ambiance and service were superb and the dishes we tried were perfect: roasted mushroom salad, cod with cauliflower and archaic char with broccoli. Finished with a Choco torte that was just perfect. All melts in your mouth accompanied by a nice glass of wine. The menu and decor were nicely thought out and will definitely be back! Welcome to Leslieville CORE!
As someone who has lived in this area for some time, I’m very happy to have Core join the pack of great dining options in the area. Core is elevated dining in a relaxed setting. The food is incredible and very reasonably priced for its class. The house made butter and sourdough bread is a delicious way to start the meal. I wish I could have taken both home with me! The scallop crudo was very fresh and bursting with flavour. The warm mushroom salad was creamy and delicious. The pork tenderloin and duck were both beautifully presented and devoured very quickly. I definitely recommend this restaurant! We’ll definitely be back very soon.
