Our newest favorite restaurant in San Diego! We make it a point when we travel to explore new restaurants and Cowboy Star did not disappoint! We had a reservation but showed up 30 mins early and they had no issue with seating us immediately. Our waiter was awesome and added to the overall experience. Super attentive, yet not overbearing where we weren't able to enjoy our experience and gave wonderful recommendations. The food and drinks were exceptional. We have eaten at top steakhouses across the country and this was one of the best! My only issue would be that we were sat at a small two person table which lead to our table top being very overcrowded as our food was coming out. Just wish there was a little more room. I would suggest asking for more room if you would like a little more space to be comfortable. But overall food, drinks, service and ambience were 5 stars!

The food here is always fantastic. I brought a friend to say thank you for watching my dog. The wait staff is friendly. Our drinks came prompt and were delicious. We tried the beef cheeks and I would 100% order them again. You have to get their corn soup. It changes so I love seeing what they’ll do to it next. We shared the dry aged ribeye and NY strip. The strip was more to my liking but that’s because my friend doesn’t know how to order a steak and requested the ribeye MW. For a slower night I thought the entrees took a little longer than usual, but always forth the wait at Cowboy Star.

This is a great steakhouse. It's probably my favorite in San Diego, if we're not taking price into consideration, because it's expensive. If you still have any room, try a dessert. I had the pretzel pie parfait--delightful! I appreciate a restaurant like this that has more creative dessert options beyond just the standard cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, and some sort of ice cream configuration.

You really can’t go wrong with this place. It’s very consistently good and this trip was no exception. The seasonal beets were a must try and the mussels were top notch. The steaks are always delicious and cooked perfectly. If the food weren’t enough, the real reason this place sings is the impeccable service. These guys know you need something before you do! Already making plans to go back on our next trip to San Diego on a couple of months

Food was excellent. I'd just suggest that if you are a party of two to specifically request a C booth or bar seat. The two-top dining tables in the middle of the restaurant are small and positioned very close to one another. We couldn't fit everything on the table and were bumped quite a few times by passing wait staff.

We were on vacation in San Diego and wanted to have a nice dinner and chose Cowboy Star, and boy are we glad we did! The place was incredible and was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The salad, the rolls, the wine, and the steak were all delicious. John was an incredible server and went above and beyond- he even gave us a list of winery recommendations for when we got back home to Washington. I ordered my steak medium rare, and it came out close to well done, so I told John and he was so quick to take my plate and replace my steak with one that was cooked perfectly to my liking. The kitchen got that new steak out in probably 60 seconds! They even brought us out some complimentary ice cream and some other things for a special occasion. It was an incredible dining experience, and I would highly recommend Cowboy Star to anyone looking for a nice dinner in San Diego.

Service was outstanding. The filet mignon and skirt steak were cooked perfectly. Bread, Mac n cheese were mouthwatering and somehow we managed to fit in dessert! The chocolate chip bread pudding was worth “over eating“ We were celebrating a 50th Birthday and they made it special. Definitely recommend!

Everything was delicious! I would definitely recommend the Parker House rolls, bone marrow, and the dry-aged (35 days) Rib eye off the bone! So good! Drinks were also delicious! Next time I would like to try the Happy Hour menu!

Was disappointed at our experience, we didn’t feel there was good value for price. We ordered the filet mignon, the ribeye and the porterhouse. Porterhouse was pretty good but the filet and the ribeye weren’t cooked well, and had little flavor. Texture not great either. Preparation of food seemed rushed, presentation was sloppy. Service was also rushed…My son wasn’t even finished with his meat, and his mashed potatoes and vegetables hadn’t been touched, but the server took his plate without even asking if he was done. The server seemed to want to turn our table quick, maybe because we didn’t order alcohol or a lot of appetizers. Not worth it for the price.

The staff and service was amazing. They were able to accommodate us to a larger after being seated at a small table near the rear of the restaurant. The wait staff was great and always checked in on us. The oysters, prime rib, and dessert was great and quality was top notch. My favorites are the dry aged Prime Rib and oysters. If you're a fan of a simple Old Fashioned try the C-Star Old Fashioned. Highly recommend this place for anyone looks for a quality steak house while in San Diego. Can't wait to come back!

Took my girlfriend out to this place and it exceeded above my expectations. This place has amazing food, I got the ribeye and my girlfriend got the filet mignon and we both loved it. Both of our food was cooked perfectly, super juicy with every bite. We also ordered the Mac n Cheese it was amazing as well. We both got full pretty fast because we ordered bread and a Cesar salad. But even when I was full I didn’t want to stop eating, it was that good. This place is a little pricey but totally worth it, top tier meat. The service was great never had to ask for them to fill up my water or anything it was 10/10. Normally when my girlfriend go out to restaurants we get ignored by the waiter because we are a younger couple and “probably won’t tip good,” we tipped about 36%. The waiter we had seemed very thankful as we were walking out of the door. All out I think this was a 11/10 service amazing food and awesome service, the prices are high for a reason… for their food quality.

Our waiter Mark was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu. The dry aged ribeye is beyond amazing! With each bite you feel like you died and went to Heaven. The rolls are to die for as is the creamed spinach and chocolate bread pudding. Wish there were a few more options for Sauvignon Blanc, but the one they have is good.

We celebrated my husbands birthday here last night and it was absolutely amazing! The service was perfect in a not-fake way. I loved every course and dish. We got the tartare to start with wine and a Manhattan. Then we got sweet corn soup, wagyu and ribeye. We got creamed spinach, cauliflower, creamy horseradish and chimichurri. Finished off with some ice cream. That was the perfect meal and perfect evening because of the ambiance and staff.

We had wanted to try Cowboy Star for a while and were happy went we finally got the opportunity. The food and service was very good. We only had main courses as we had to go to a concert at the Shell afterwards. The deliver was slow. From the time we sat down until we got ouur food it took more than an hour. The food was great and so was the service but waiting an hour for food seems excessive.

I surprised my wife for our 25th anniversary with dinner there. The attention, service, ambience, and food were all amazing! We got a cozy table in the back and the staff were all so attentive. While it is not a cheap restaurant, everything we ate was simply amazing and worth every penny!
