Service was slow and food was mediocre at best - gnocchi was doughy, rockfish was salty, steak and frites was such a small portion of meat.
Our server was very friendly, but her section was understaffed. The food was only ok for the higher price point. Everything phase of the meal, from drinks to dinner took quite awhile to get to the table. It could have just been an off night - because we had heard good things. Not sure if we’d return though.
I love Cunninghams this is the 2nd experience i have had with them and qhat i love the most is the consistency in professionalism, quality of food, and great service this is to me considered a 5 star place i keep on my list when i want to razzle and dazzle my wife
This place is beautifully decorated, although I didn't understand why one dining area had white tablecloths while the other had none, despite both being open to each other. The menu wasn't very impressive but the prices seemed reasonable. The portions were generous but overall the food was disappointing. The skirt steak had a gamey taste that wasn't disguised by being oversauced. The brined pork chop was huge but seemed more like ham than pork and way too salty. I almost always finish my dinner but in this case I didn't enjoy it enough to finish it. Our server Shannon was very nice and attentive, so nice that I didn't even want to complain about our food, really! And the place was quite noisy and therefore pretty popular. I don't know what can be done about noise. If a place is popular, it will be crowded and hence noisy. If you want a quiet dining experience, you're either going to need to go somewhere on a weeknight or one that's not popular and perhaps not very good. This place was certainly popular but also not very good, so who can tell?
I guess it was really busy. Service was nice but overwhelmed. It was loud and hard to talk. I’d requested a booth well in advance but it was not reserved for us. Just a little disappointing overall.
It was delicious, but nothing special for the price. The restaurant was really beautiful, but it was a little loud as a lot of the tables were close together. The service was great, and the food was really good. We had a great time celebrating valentine's day there!
Excellent meal and service
We loved it. It was something different . Food and service was Awesome. Server Amanda was great
My ladies dinner group got together for dinner. Some of the comments were: beet salad was different but was very good, the crab cake was the best they have ever had, the skirt steak was delicious and the fried chicken was good but a little spicy. And as always the ice cream was very creamy . The noise level was elevated as one end of the table couldn't hear the other end. All and all the ladies had a very enjoyable evening.
Having dined at Cunningham's many times, we have rarely been disappointed. The ambiance is lovely and sophisticated. We had the braised beet salad as an appetizer and the rockfish with cauliflower pilaf as an entree--both were well prepared, complex, and delicious. We always look forward to returning. The convenience of the parking garage is another plus when the weather is not great.
We've been to Cunnigham's before, and enjoyed it, so we decided to make that our Valentine's Day dinner destination. We scanned the web site a few times before going - just daydreaming about what we'd order - so we were surprised when we got there that you could only order from a pre-fixe 4 course menu. Once you're there, you're there so we rolled with it... but I'd prefer to know that kind of thing in advance. We each started with a cocktail before dinner & they were both very well-made. For the meal, first course was a glass of champagne in a plastic flute. Okay. For our second course we chose the crab with caviar - which turned out to be angel hair pasta tossed with crab. Maybe I misread what it was going to be but even so it was just okay... I wish I'd ordered the lobster profiteroles. The entrees on the other hand were phenomenal. We got the pan-seared fluke and beef tenderloin. They were both so good... words diminish just how amazing they were. They made the whole thing worth it - almost. I say almost because the dessert options weren't great - one of the three listed wasn't available and was being substituted with a poached pear with a dense fruit cake. We both chose that. I don't know what the pear was poached in but something was way off - too much clove? I don't know but thank goodness for the memory of those entrees. We kept those in mind $200+ later. Did I mention how good they were? So overall I would absolutely recommend Cunningham's. Maybe just go on a non-holiday.
An excellent, upscale dining experience as always. While expensive, the food is absolutely worth the price when combined with the value of a price fixe menu, optional wine pairings, superb cocktails, and luxurious ambience. I would recommend Cunningham’s to anyone looking for a fine, quiet dining experience in the $45-$70 per person range.
What happened to this once great place? It was Valentine's day with a prix-fixe menu. Where were the marvelous breads they used to serve with their spreads? They served champagne in plastic flutes?! The food and portions were small and dessert was nothing to write home about. Pretty disappointing.
The rooms remain beautiful, and love the open kitchen, but orders were being barked as if it were Macaroni Grill. Ambiance??
Also, valet parking is now gone. Maybe an off night (on Valentine's Day)? But it appears to have gone downhill. Sad. With so many other exceptional dining options, don't soon be going back here.
My birthday is Valentine’s Day, and we typically go to the same restaurant each year. This year we wanted to try something new. I made a reservation for Cunningham’s about a month in advance. I’ve had other restaurants call and say they will have a prix fixe menu on V-day and ask if this changes our plans. Cunningham’s did not do this, and we were disappointed to find only a prix fixe menu offering, titled “Four courses - $69pp” and an additional $30pp for wine pairings. Only 3 courses were listed, so I am not sure what the fourth course was meant to be? We waited 20 minutes to be greeted by our server, whose flat affect matched his low monotone voice that was difficult to hear over the loud music playing. We were at least able to order items a la carte and not bound to all “four” courses. My father and I ordered cocktails to start, and we all ordered our appetizers and main courses right away for fear of waiting any longer for our server to come back again. My father also went with the wine pairings for both his starter and main dish. Our soups were brought to us before the cocktails, and my dad had to remind the server of the wine pairing. We were not offered bread, meanwhile every table around us had bread and the large loaves were tauntingly on display just in front of our table. While the food was excellent, it did not outshine our server’s ineptitude, which culminated in an additional 20 min wait for him to run our payment after we politely declined dessert. I don’t know if this was a Valentine’s Day fluke, and I will likely never find out as I am in no hurry to return to Cunningham’s. As I’ve said, the food was good, so dine here at your own risk. Five stars for food, three for service and ambiance which I feel is generous.
Our expectations were above and beyond. The food was excellent. We enjoy the variety of the food and the service. We are never disappointed. From the Oysters to the Fillet. Its our go to for all occasions.
We made Valentines Day reservations 2 weeks ahead, BECAUSE of the open menu.
We arrived and, after being seated, were handed Valentine’s Day specific, limited menu with 5-6 entree choices, and a fixed price.
We discussed leaving; due to the time and convenience, we decided to stay. (I had predetermined my menu choices, on the website, and NONE of my choices were on the chef’s offerings.
My wife’s seafood bisque was EXCELLENT!
My lobster was tasty; ridiculously small!
Both of us ordered the steak. A default. When it was delivered, I was shocked at the size of the entree. I was not aware this was was a tapa meal...the filet offering, for a $60 meal was disappointingly small. The steak was average. My medium rare steak was rare. Fortunately, I don’t mind rare; I ate it but was disappointed with it. Tasteless!
Our server, Kevin,I believe was good and tried to make up for our initial disappointment to little avail.
All said, once we get over our initial feelings, we’ll probably try again...we just know how to handle our expectations! (I won’t be ordering steak!)
As for recommending Cunningham’s to friends, I think we’ll respond to their interest with a few caveats till we have better things to say.
Bri was an exceptional server! Enjoyed everything from the food to the cocktails!
Our server Ronnie was the best!
The food and service were great. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the restaurant closed at 9pm on Sundays. Felt very rushed to order due to kitchen closing. Lights turned up at 9:05pm and unable to order dessert due to kitchen being closed.
A little pricey, but we expected that. Very good service and we had a group of 7.
We had another incredible meal at Cunningham’s. The menu recently change and my favorite item changed. I now have a new favorite.
Great experience and great food!
The food is fabulous. The restaurant is amazing. The greeters are friendly. I think this is my favorite restaurant now. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Great food and service. A restaurant we like to visit on a regular basis.
Service was excellent and food was very tasty! Ambiance was great! Our server read on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday so he wished my fiancé a happy birthday and even brought out a birthday cupcake during dessert. The menu is a little pricey but the good food and portions more than make up for it! We had a wonderful dining experience.
Our first time visiting this restaurant we were so pleased with everything. We loved how parking is convenient to the restaurant and how we were greeted. The wait staff was so attentive, The food was fresh, healthy, beautifully served, and so delicious! We will be back!
Great food great waitress
Another amazing meal here! From the brussel sprouts to the creme brulee, everything was on point. And if you get John Michael as your server, you will have beyond excellent service. Phenomenal experience.
Very good, as always.
We had a group of 8 people. We were seated quickly and the wait staff was attentive. We had one vegan patron with us and he was readily accommodated. The food was excellent.
WE always have a great experience at Cunningham's whether a intimate dinner or a group client dinner. Chef Jay never disappoints!! Thank you!
Food tasted bad. Server was not patient or attentive (Dave). My mother did not enjoy her birthday experience.
Went for restaurant week. Food was excellent, great selection. Even though our server was slammed we received food and beverage in a timely manner.
Ronnie our server was fantastic. The appetizers, main course, dessert and drinks were fantastic. We will be back.
My BFF and I use restaurant week as an opportunity to experience restaurants we’ve never patronized before and I have to tell you Cunningham’s is a hidden gem. I’m not aware of how long it’s been in existence but we will return again and again. I ventured off the special menu and had the Petite Filet and Crab Cake special and it was outstanding, the filet cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth and the crab cakes taste was awesome. My BFF decided to try the Shrimp & Grits and she wasn’t disappointed. Great job and we are already talking about when we will be returning. Oh, and let’s not forget our server “Ronnie” I hope I have his name right, he was attentive from beginning to end. Well Done!
It was Restaurant Week and my birthday on the day we dined. We went early at 5:00 and not crowded, we were served quickly, and free parking. The bonus was the cupcake on a platter happy birthday written in chocolate. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Went for restaurant week on a Thursday night and had a great experience. Server was friendly, professional, attentive, and anticipated our needs. Food was unique and tasty. Great experience overall!
Overall experience was good and our server started out great but as the night wore on, she paid little attention to us.
Sam was our server tonight. She was awesome. Waters were always full, she was attentive, she answered all of our questions, and even made great recommendations. Had a really great night. Thanks Sam.
I met a friend for dinner during Restaurant Week. She was happy with her crab cake however my pulled pork risotto was just fair. The server and the ambiance were very nice. It would be very expensive if it had not been Restaurant Week.
