So loud in there we could barely hear people at our own table. We had Ronnie as our waiter who was nice but not very attentive. Our order was wrong but was due probably because of the noisy nature of the restaurant and he couldn’t hear us well? Took our drink order but then we didn’t see him for 30 minutes to order our food. (We all finished our cocktails in about ten mins then did get our second round for awhile) Our table was crowded and not bussed until the very end which bothered me. Food was pretty good but I was expecting better because the menu looked so amazing. Great steak! Overall, we had 6 people excited to try this restaurant for the first time and we all left underwhelmed by the experience.
Great food & great music on the patio
Very Tasty! Always consistently really good food and wine. A must stop in Towson.
We had a very small issue with one entree, and our waiter (Noah) and the management could not have worked harder to rectify the situation. They went above and beyond to make our evening special and we were very impressed by their attention to detail. The whole meal was amazing and we will recommend Cunningham's to all our friends and will most definitely return!
Sit at the chef's table. At first it seems odd to sit at a long bar facing the kitchen but its a great spot if there are only 2 of you. You can talk and also watch all the kitchen prep. If you are smart, watch some of the dishes you are considering on ordering and see if they catch your eye once plated. I loved hearing the different lingo used and how they rattle off an entire order to a line of cooks and each station knows what their job is. The watermelon salad was to die for, the heirloom salad was good but a little pricey, the ribeye cooked on the wood fire grill was life changing and the green beans were a little too raw but I think it was because they were so fresh but just too thick. The brownie sundae was okay but probably could have skipped the extra calories. The smoked margaritas were phenomenal and only $8!
Three generations of our family celebrated a college farewell, and all found something to love on the menu. Our server, John Michael, was terrific in every respect. We loved the charcuterie and cheese board and oysters for starters. Several of us ordered from the Monday prix fixe menu and it was great. The heirloom tomato salad was spectacular, as was the blackberry creme brulee. Portions are large, and we were offered a loaf of bread to take home at the end of the meal. On this Monday late in July, the restaurant was not at all crowded or noisy. We have dined at Cunningham's on other occasions when the room is more lively and noisy. But a more quiet night was fine for our family occasion.
I love Cunningham’s...never disappoints. Everything we ordered was delicious. Outstanding service!
Our server was amazing, very friendly and attentive. The seared tuna dish was lovely, especially paired with the mashed potatoes. However, the chicken parmesan tasted like a store bought frozen breaded chicken cutlet. I didn't feel that our dinner was worth the $90 check, but the overall experience was still enjoyable. :) I think I would go again, but try a different entree.
I heard great things about Cunninghams’s and they were all true. Excellent in every way!
Very noisy and cold inside the restaurant. Bring jackets and sweaters. Cocktails came to the table at various intervals instead of together. Food was mediocre - 5 different entrees and all were a little disappointing. It's unfortunate because we have had better food here last year and thought we were in for a similar experience. Cucumber salad/mash-up was horrible on an otherwise perfectly cooked scallop dish; crabcake was full of filler and not lump meat; meatball filled with cheese was like lead and the pepper grinder brought to table was empty...sorry, not at these prices. Miso bisque was excellent, gazpacho very good, duck fat potatoes and truffle fries excellent. Up your game on the birthday cupcake...came straight from a refrigerator and was sad.
It’s our go-to in Towson for special occasions, and we love the people there. We’re also known to hit happy hour on a Friday and sit outside. Love this place!
It was a little too loud in the dining area, but food and service were great.
This was our second time going to Cunningham's and each time we had a great experience! The food was excellent! Service was very good, but our second visit (John Michael, I think, was the server) it was outstanding! I would definitely recommend this for special occasions, as the prices were somewhat higher than I tend to pay for a casual night out (although that's exactly what our first visit was!).
My husband and I took our friends out for a birthday celebration, and we couldn't be happier with our experience! We were not rushed to order or through our meal, giving us quality time to enjoy our night out together. And the food! The food was delicious, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Can't wait to go back for dinner soon!
This rest. is too loud. When you are sitting in a two seater table, you get sat close to other two seater tables and can hear the entire conversations of your neighbors. It makes privacy impossible. They need something to help with sound, like a carpet, curtains or tables farther apart, to make it comfortable to talk privately. Food was ok. Service a bit slow.
Great ambience and the food is delicious. It was the perfect place for an anniversary date!
Overall, pretty good. I will go back, but I’ll definitely order something different. I didn’t really care for my dinner, not their fault.
The food is always great. It’s too bad the service is always terrible though. This time we were seated quickly but it seemed like we didn’t have a server because we had to wait about 10 minutes for one. The person who gave us water during the time we were waiting for the server told us our server went out to his car. When we were ready to pay we had to wait a while and pay a different person because our server was too busy with the tables he was given. We previously had a bad experience with a different server who couldn’t provide attentive service due to the amount of tables they were given. It seems like the restaurant has good cooks but needs improvement in the front of house including management.
Delicious food and exceptional service. The only food item I wouldn't order again was our appetizer, the pork belly and shrimp dumplings. I got the shrimp and grits which were amazing and my spouse was happy with his carne supremo flatbread.
GREAT ATMOSPHERE!!! Delicious fresh food! The service was great.
Sat outside, overlooked by waiter went inside for dinner. Was given drinks on the house but martini was shaken not on the rocks. Wedge salad over dressed, gazpacho was more like salsa. Scallops were wonderful but rib steak made my husband’s stomach sick. Then in garage we were sideswiped!
Excellent as always. Its my favorite. Beautiful & elegant restaurant. The gazpacho soup was perfect, amazing scallops, wonderful water melon salad and great desserts. Thank you Chef Jay for a wonderful dinner.
Love this place.
Another wonderful experience at Cunninghams. Our server, Amanda, was absolutely wonderful. She was on top of the drinks - anticipated our every need - and was friendly and personable. The food was excellent!
Had a wonderful date night dinner experience sitting on the outdoor patio. The food and service were great
All was okay except the air conditioning was not functioning
Eaten here many times in the past. This was the worst meal I ever had at this restaurant. Swordfish spoiled. Water melon salad mushy. Fruit desert awful. At least I was not charged for anything.
Everything looks great, service is attentive, food was just a little flat.
Still seems to be a little loud. Maybe a little carpeting somewhere could quiet things down? Great food !
Despite not being very crowded, the waiter was very slow with the initial drink order, taking our dinner order and bringing the check. We have never had this issue with any of previous visits.
Dinner was very good, especially the mahi mahi and the scallops main courses. Gazpacho was more ordinary, but the fried oysters were excellent. We originally requested the beet salad which turned out to be not available. Service was slow - at one point we had to call another waiter to ask our waiter where our bottle of wine was for the main course which had arrived. After several minutes our waiter showed up with the wine and then we were able to have wine with our main courses. After signing for the check I noticed there was no itemized bill so there was confusion and me waiting while the itemized bill was reprinted. Note: Cunningham's did not have valet parking the night we dined (on Tuesday 6/19/18) which it used to have.
The spring specials were inventive and delicious. Changing out seafood in them presented no problem. I've made a note to return here soon.
Always a great experience as long as we can get seated at the tablecloth section, otherwise wayyy too noisy.
Tried this restaurant for Father's Day. The food was delicious and the waitress was very friendly and accommodating with our children. There is not a kids menu, but they were able to split an entree into three for our kiddies. Looking forward to going back with just the adults next time.
Our family had the best time, best dinner in a long time. My daughter is vegan and our waiter, Noah, helped with arranging for a suitable option. Our waiter was very attentive and really made it a very relaxing time. He knew a lot about the menu/drinks also. Food and drinks were excellent - fresh, different from the usual options at other places. Other staff was also very pleasant. We will definitively return.
Father’s Day brunch was great. There was a ton of variety and the food was delicious.
We've been going to Cunningham's with some regularity over the last year-and-a-half, particularly when we wanted to have a special occasion or really nice dining experience. Unfortunately, they just changed their menu, and not for the better. It seems all of their entre'es are now rather uncreative and uninspired slabs of meat or fish, with a *very* small garnish of greens and no starch. The waiter said that the restaurant is trying to "lighten-up" their offerings. We think they have gone too far. Admittedly, the meat and fish are very well cooked, but there was nothing interesting or special about the dish. It was just a large plate with meat, and given that the price for just an entre'e hovers close to $30, one expects a variety of flavors and textures to excite and stimulate the taste buds. Here in the USA, an entre'e is a main dish, and it should come with at least a modicum of vegetables and starch, etc., to make a balanced meal. Yes, one can order extra side dishes of vegetables, but the selection is dull and rapidly becomes expensive.
All of this is somewhat contradictory, as meat is usually considered to be "heavy" not light.
A new trendy item on their menu is called a "Tuna Poke" and is served with watermelon and rice noodles. Again, its just a large, nicely seared whole tuna streak with small bits of watermelon scattered around. Worse yet, the dish came with only a tablespoon's worth of UNDERCOOKED rice noodles. One can get larger servings of rice noodles from Asia Food on York Road for about 60 cents! At least learn how to cook them. BTW, in a traditional poke, the fish is raw and cubed. For an enjoyable comparison, go to Poke Bowl in Lutherville on York Road.
On the silly side, someone must have told them that the restaurant will feel more casual if all the wait staff wear jeans and plaid shirts! Really?? It's just silly.
We will wait for them to change their menu again....
Love it! Food choices where excellent. Our waiter was so pleasant. We had a lovely time.
We dined at 8:30 on a Friday and the restaurant was nearly empty. Our waiter was nice and tried to be accommodating but clearly was new on the job so didn’t know the menu well. Can’t fault him for that. But he got both our main dishes wrong. My husband didn’t get the coleslaw sub for fries he requested, and I was served the larger portion size of seared tuna. I had ordered the smaller and even questioned the waiter when it arrived. Oh yes, it’s the smaller size. But I was charged for the larger. Both problems were quickly adjusted when pointed out, and we don’t know if the waiter or the kitchen made the mistake. But some carelessness there. We were seated outside at our request. A loud band was playing somewhere out of sight and the traffic was noisy for a while. The concrete patio surface needs repairs. So the ambiance wasn’t the greatest. But our food was good and nicely presented.
Although our food was delish, there are painfully few vegan options without having to order caesar salad without the cheese, flatbread without the cheese etc. The grilled asparagus were yummy.
Restaurant was EXTREMELY warm. We requested a temperature adjustment several times and although the management tried, they were unable to cool things down. Ruined the dining experience for us as we have several elderly folks that were rather uncomfortable.
