From the moment we arrived the disappointment began. They couldn't find our reservation, made us wait for 20 minutes even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The servers try hard but obviously very inexperienced. The food was terrible, over salted, over cooked, no one enjoyed their meal. A very disappointing and expensive meal.
This restaurant was close to having it all right. The setting is nice, GREAT wait staff. For my starter: The greek salad was fresh but lacked dressing and flavor. Four of us dined, and everyone liked their main dishes. Dessert was also nice, they confirmed my allergy special request. The wait between our courses was extremely long. We had our servers coming over SEVERAL times and apologizing. They offered us a drink to make up for the trouble. Great, then when the bill came, the did not give us the drink free. They took off half of the desserts. I mean, just kind of odd. If you offer a drink on the house, then take it off the bill. Despite the unevenness of the evening (and duration -- yes, we were the last group in the entire place due to no fault of our own) I would still consider returning again. The food was really good. I am somewhat chalking it up to a bad night.
My husband and I dine at Daphne’s frequently. This is the second time I booked through Open Table and the restaurant had no record of our reservation. I did call in the afternoon to confirm and was told we did not have a booking and that there was no availability at the time we had reserved. After much arguing, we did secure a waterside table at our desired time.
The service was very slow and not coordinated. As I wanted to make sure our guests did not try to pay, I gave my credit card to the receptionist when she directed us to our table. Despite this, the bill was delivered to the table and our server claimed he did not know about this arrangement - very awkward in front of our guests.
Although the food met the restaurant’s usual high quality, the overall experience was disappointing.
The food was good however it took 40 minutes to order. The starters was incorrect and we had to wait 10 minutes after being served the mains to get any cutlery. Wouldn’t recommend
Be careful when booking through Open Table. They did not honor our reservation, saying “when it’s booked through Wifi sometimes it doesn’t work.”
We did have some drinks on the patio. The view is lovely but service was very slow and drinks were overpriced and not great.
A more limited menu from last time I was here with smaller portions and higher prices. I wouldn't eat here again even though what we had was very nice with the exception of my desert, which was basically a $50 magnum that was so hard I couldn't eat it.
Beautiful restaurant. Not stuffy but elegant enough for a special occasion. The food is its best feature: a great menu with fresh ingredients, delicious combinations and very light. Presentation was detailed. Vegetarian options were interesting and yummy. The potato raviolis were amazing and again, surprisingly light. Interesting enough, the sides of mushrooms and battered veggies were outstanding and addictive (beware).Wine list is very good. They could use a sommelier or some wine training (my only complain); had to serve my wine throughout the evening and they were clueless about their own bottles. Desserts were very different from your run of the mill Italian restaurant (we ordered three).Beautifully presented and all worth having, especially the iced creams they came with. Will come every time we are in Barbados.
Date night at Daphne’s last night and food was nothing short of incredible. We did 3 courses each (appetizers, pasta, and entree) and every bite was better than the last.
We started with the piri piri shrimp and octopus. I order octopus a lot and this was one of the best. Great mix of salty, acidic and sweet flavors. Shrimp were delicious with a spicy kick!
Then we each had a half portion of pasta. I LOVE when places offer half portions of pasta dishes so you can indulge without getting too full for an entree. The Duck Pappardelle was phenomenal. I cleaned the plate.
We finished with the steak and speck wrapped pork tenderloin. Both had amazing flavor and were cooked perfectly. I didn’t think the appetizer and pasta could be beat but I think the tenderloin was my favorite bite of the meal and a perfect way to finish (and maybe the very best dish I experienced ANYWHERE in Barbados).
