Pleasant experience, a little bit expensive . Overall a good day.
The service was lovely just the right amount of professional and friendly. The food easily accommodated my wheat allergy, and the presentation and taste was outstanding. It is a bit pricey, two for lunch no wine and one desert 80.00+ but for a special treat its well worth it.
Always a great experience
The food was excellent so they win on that. And the wait staff were very pleasant and tried hard to please us. However we had a 745 reservation were not seated until almost 915. Other groups were coming in and getting seated while we waited at the bar. They did compensate us (after being informed that we expected some kind of compensation) with a bottle of wine so at least it was something. But in my opinion keeping a party of three waiting an hour and a half past their reservation time is simply not acceptable.
We had visitors from overseas and wanted to take them somewhere fancy; Deane house did not disappoint. The food is inventive and delicious, the waiter was happy to answer all of our questions regarding ingredients we had never heard of, and the cocktails were divine.
Awesome start to finish!
Great service. We opted for the tasting menu, first course was a bit bland, but the remaining courses were delicious.
Thought that the menu was a little fancy and was unsure what to order...went with the hamburger and it was amazing! Also tried my wife's ribs & the meat was extremely tender & fell right off the bone!
Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Loved the food . A little pricey. Waitress was great.
Everything was fantastic! We took advantage of the free corkage on Sunday. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Food was excellent.
Cocktails were amazing.
Service was excellent.
The cheese cake was incredible.
Would definitely recommend the Deane House.
Simply amazing. Custom cocktail and impeccable food. One of the best meals I’ve had (not just in Calgary, but anywhere). Will definitely be back.
Unique setting with beautiful gardens. Fresh menu with many novel items. Great place for lunch with a friend. Servers very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu n
I knew that Deane House had a strong reputation in Calgary's culinary space but I was not at all prepared to find out that even with the hype, it is underrated. We came in for a special event on the day of the Pride parade and due to our poor planning for the blockages were a full 30 minutes late before we completed our party and the staff at Deane House were so immensely understanding and polite about it, and did not even mention anything negative other than saying that we now only had our table for an hour, which was of course absolutely fine. Our server was wonderful, the food was easily the best brunch in Calgary (that I've tried so far in my 4 years and dozens of brunches). I will fisticuff for that to whomever wants to challenge that... You know how sometimes places go a little too abstract with their brunch creations and then fall short? This is not one of those places. All their creative, funky dishes work and holy god the french toast... i need to be held. So amazing and i have not much of a sweet tooth at all.
Despite only having a tight 60 for our meal we did not feel rushed AT ALL and due to the flawless pace of service, it didn't even feel like it was a 'rushed' situation at all.
Even FOH staff who weren't our server were being so wonderful and polite and even offered to take our pictures without being asked (like, multiple servers offered it was so sweet). I was just blown away by this experience. To top it all off, a charming jazz trio was playing in the corner of the outdoor seating area and was not too loud and definitely very talented. The venue of course, is simply gorgeous and reminds me of the beautiful gardens you see in England just bursting with flowers and gorgeousness. I could not have imagined a better birthday for my mother and we are definitely coming back very soon.
The service and food were amazing. It was perfect for our special occasion. We went with the tasting menu, which was excellent . Everyone in our party had a different favorite course from the evening. Phenomenal.
My wife and I were out to celebrate our anniversary and decided to try Deane House as an alternative to the River Cafe (where we've had our anniversary dining for the past two or three years). We're very glad we did.
we had Cailyn serving us and it was a great overall experience, due in no small part to her energy and friendliness. As luck and timing had it, my wife and I had the patio to ourselves for much of the night and we didn't feel neglected in the least by your wait staff.
The food was delicious and a great time was had.
Outstanding food and excellent service. Very enjoyable
Treasure - our waitress was great! Food was really wonderful, fresh and delicious- bar staff excellent and well informed! Great experience!
Great food and service. A bit pricey. Perogies and Duck were succulent.
Knowledgeable server and lovely ambiance.
We were celebrating a birthday and it was a perfect place to do that especially with the jazz music playing in the background. The food & service were excellent and we will be going back soon.
Having the jazz trio was a special treat along with being able to move outside to enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the music after having a delicious brunch (French Toast was fabulous). Receiving the blanket was a very nice touch!
What a wonderful place to take my mom for her 80th with her daughter and granddaughter! Beautiful setting, food was amazing and service was excellent. Definitely the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion!
The most delish. Local in season ingredients and fab drinks.
The bartender is one of the top 5 in all of canada. His feature drink was amazing. Service was top notch. Food was near fine dining expectations. Would definitely go back again.
Food is top notch, a big step above your regular chain causal dinning places. A little on the price side but you get what you pay for.
The food was terrific but the staff made the difference because they were so attentive and genuinely interested in what we thought of the food and the wine. They turned a nice night into a special one.
Our experience was very good- the only complaint i had was that my poached eggs were over cooked which took away from the benedict loveliness.
Service was fast and friendly. Ambience was amazing with live jazz on the patio. This was my third time at Deanne's house and love the consistency with the service and the food. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend to friends and family. Looking forward to my next visit. Thanks and kudos to all the staff and the chef for the amazing dining experience.
As usual, our lunch was delightful! The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. The ambience is perfect, no matter the occasion. I love it here.
Food was great, we had Bison Tartar, Tomato Salad, The Duck, The lamb, oysters and white chocolate dessert. Everything was great, except for the Oysters. We would have preferred west coast Oysters over East coast oysters. But that is just a personal preference. The fresh pear juice was not a fan favourite. Didn't think it was worth the price. Other than that, we loved the outdoor garden!
We had a great time but were disappointed that all of the “haunted house” history seems to forgotten. Would love to see a little of that incorporated!
My colleague had the burger which looked and tasted great. I had the Bowden Farm Chicken which was greasy and small with a salad that tasted bitter. This is the first meal I have not enjoyed at the Deane House.
The service was amazing and so was the food. I went for a birthday just for 2 and it was quiet. A good place to come to anytime and worth coming back to!
Thank you for the complimentary glass of prosecco and the little chocolate treats! Loved the food and the cute host!
The location, ambience and set up of the restaurant is great and excellent for occasions but the service was extremely slow. Over an hour wait to receive the drinks and another hour for the appetizers. Very very slow service. The food was good but not too much on the menu as in first dishes to choose from. Not very gluten free friendly and quite small servings.
I had great expectations for the restaurant as the place itself meets its physical depiction on the website. It's full of charm and the vibe is very good. The servers are very nice; however, we felt abandoned as we starved in between dish stages. The place was not crowded and yet we still felt forgotten. It started well with great drinks and a beautiful wine selection. After a request for bread to quench our hunger (we waited at least 30 minutes for this) and then a trickling of small food plates, we got to the main meal. My wife's fare seem ok, but my own was very salty and the side dish overdone. By now -we've been in the restaurant over an hour- I was famished. I felt like eating it, but my wife told me I would regret it if I didn't speak up about this situation, which I had total disappointment on the dish. And I did. The manager was very prompt to offer me something else. However, my wife was already eating her fare, and I had to wait.
He promised me to do it fast. Well, fast it came, but the food did not taste great, for it was made in a rush.
So I went away with a feeling of sadness. I may have been my mistake due to my over expectations.
We had two reservations on this place. I had no hesitations to scrap the second one. I only wish the restaurant with such great reputation to not be complacent to its goal of making everybody, not certain few, feel at home enjoying a great meal. I am really sorry to have had such poor experience.
Amazing tasting menu with wine pairings for our 25th anniversary. Rene was knowledgeable and service was leisurely and enjoyable! Can’t wait to come back
Well presented,perfectly prepared,attention to detail.
This was our first time at The Deane House. We enjoyed walking the grounds both before and after our meal. We had a very nice table in the "porch". Our drinks were excellent and we enjoyed the salad. My wife ordered the lamb rare. Unfortunately this made it virtually unchewable. It had to be sent back for further cooking, and then it was fine and very tasty. I had the beef, medium well. It was very tender and delicious, and our desserts were outstanding.
One small detraction from a fine evening. The flies. At least one of them adopted our table, and we could see several others against the windows. It was very off-putting to see one land on the rims of our glasses and then on our plates. Trying to shoo them away was a fulltime job which we only could attend to part time, so who knows where else they landed. You aren't the only restaurant where we have had this problem. The waitress actually suggested that she could bring back a menu for us to deal with the flies - but then she didn't!
I won't put up with it again. I believe that we are willing to pay handsomely for a premium experience. But this condition makes it much less than premium. I will have a fly swatter with me next time I visit (other than in winter), unless I hear from you that you will have this under control in future.
Thanks for listening.
I had friends visiting from out of town and brought them here for lunch and they were very impressed. I love the atmosphere and always look forward to coming here.
