I loved the ambience of this place. Food was fantastic. We shared the chicken for two and we couldn't eat it all. It was incredibly delicious. The only complaint would be that it took about half an hour from sitting down to receiving our cocktails. In fact, the starter plates arrived before the cocktails. That's kind of strange. However, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a wonderful dining experience in a historical house.
Did the tasting menu which exposed us to many delicious, unique tastes. Impeccable service and interesting historical site made for an all round enjoyable evening. Would recommend for fine dinner by.
Valentines dinner with my wife... what an awesome place for a special occasion. Great food, great service and a pleasant ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
Five-course tasters menu for Valentines Day was amazing. I also ordered a non-alcoholic not-too-sweet cocktail which I left up to the bartender to choose; I received a delicious sour cherry walnut cocktail that was absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed a dark beer from a local craft brewery. We made our reservation after the restaurant was mostly full so were seated at a high top table with comfy padded stools with backs close to the door. Although not terrible, I would have preferred a regular height table away from the door. The service was perfect; the waitresses were very knowledgeable about the menu and drink options.
Having been a frequent diner at River Café, I knew Deane House would not disappoint. Even then, I was pleasantly surprised. Ambience very similar to River café, with a rustic and cozy interior and a beautiful view. Deane house does provide a bit more privacy than River Café as their seating is more spread apart in individual rooms (think Rouge). The food is excellent seasonal Canadian, though less of a focus on locally sourced than River Café. Good variety. Prices are slightly cheaper than River Café (with mains in the 30's as opposed to 40's) though more tailored for the lighter breakfast and lunch meals as opposed to a big dinner. One of my favourite brunch spots.
Excellent service by our waiter Nate. We tried the tasting menu, interesting choice of courses. Enjoyed some of the dishes but not all of them. Presentation was well done. One negative about the tables are they are too close to each other. No privacy for conversation!
We had a beautiful time. The staff was amazing and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be returning.
Really good experience, great food + service. Jimmy and staff were great!
We went for dinner and It has limited menu for the kids but the food is excellent!
Always a wonderful, interesting menu. Great space run by nice people! Def will return!
I have been here twice now, and the food has been consistently amazing!
Consistency in quality , taste and quantity is something that tends to be lacking in many restaurants..,and that tends to put restaurants out of business or favour.
The Deanne House should be around for a very long time, if it remains as delicious, creative and simply wonderful as it has been.
We had a great night out!
My friend and I met for lunch recently at the Deane House, on a cold Calgary day. We immediately felt welcomed and were treated very graciously by our hostess and our server. We enjoyed our food very much, but my friend felt that her lunch was not substantial enough for the money she paid. I felt that I got value for my selection. My friend said she felt cold during the lunch, but I was toasty and comfortable.
Very pleasant, well appointed restaurant in historic building in a beautiful setting next to the Elbow River.
The service and surroundings were wonderful. The appetizers were both very good (humus and steak tartare), the mains we good but nothing to rave about (brisket and pork loin/belly). The chocolate torte was delicious while the apple spice cake was average.
The best part was definitely the ambiance, it was refreshing to go to a nice restaurant where you can actually hear each other talk.
First time here since renovations and since Connie de Souza took over the restaurant. An extremely wonderful evening with friends. Would rate this as a high end restaurant and great for special occasions, considering the price. Having said this, service, ambience and food all excellent. Shared the hummus as an appetizer, best we have ever tasted (smoked lentils and goat cheese....yum). I had the duck, husband had the bison loin and friend had fish, all cooked to perfection. Servings are perfect. Also indulged in desert......yummmmmmmm! Bartender made a special mocktail for me which was unique and very tasty. Service was attentive but not rushed. Parking in back of building and on street. Would definitely go again for a special occasion.
Fantastic! We arrived, we’re seated right away, the sommelier helped us choose some wine with a few little samples, the service was great, and the food outstanding. Definitely coming back! :)
Great Resturant with amazing food and outstanding service!! Will recommend it to friends and family and looking forward to coming back soon
We had an exceptional dining experience with a delicious meal served by a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The renovated restaurant was beautiful. We will definitely return.
Excellent food. Highly recommended and would definitely go back!
Great food; terrible service.
We had a lovely time and I would love to come back! I had the chicken and it was delicious:)
We had a delightful brunch at the Deane House! We had a baby with us and the staff was wonderfully responsive to his needs! The room was lovely, it was quiet and out of the way, the staff was lovely, the service was exemplary and the food was absolutely delectable.
I have been here previously for dinner and it was wonderful. I decided to bring a friend here to celebrate her birthday (a milestone) as I knew she would appreciate the cuisine. We sat out in the covered deck. It was extremely noisy. I struggled with whether I was going to ask to move or not. In the end we stayed as it seemed to tone down. I was not impressed with our waitress. We didn’t have cutlery for our meal (had to ask) and the food seemed to me to be not quite up to their standard that I had experienced previously. The plate of three deserts were stale. I believe it is worth going again because of my first experience there, but I will not go when it is so busy.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch . Very tasty, great and very friendly service. A very pleasant experience. Will be back.
Too wild for me! Lamb tongue, duck confect . There was no option for the less adventurious with regards to eating different or wild meets.
Tasting menu and wine pairing was not worth the experience. We will be back to try à la carte menu .
Food was great and just the right amount so not overly stuffed! The new management has mde some nice changes to the menu and look/feel of the place. A great spot for any occasion! Our waitress was great!
Eating here was the best meal of my life so far. You will not regret the spend.
Pretty good but not worth the price tag in my opinion.
