In the spring of 1956, Mama and Papa DiCicco and their four sons opened the original DiCicco’s restaurant in Fresno, California. The four brothers, Nicola, Alberto, Frank, and Roberto would open the doors 7 days a week as the family worked together, singing Italian songs and tossing pizzas. DiCicco’s quickly became known as the place to go for great Italian food, family fun, and authentic atmosphere. Over the years, members of the DiCicco’s family have opened 19 restaurants across California’s central valley, many of which are independently owned and operated. Our newest location in Escondido is looking forward to carrying on the DiCicco’s tradition of serving great Italian comfort food in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

This was just okay, not great or awful but only okay. Wasn’t crowded but service was only okay. We were shocked that under CLASSICS, our order of meatballs and pepper was served with NO PASTA! Not okay and a further review of the menu proved it to be our error, but then again, most Italian restaurants have a serving of meatballs as a ‘side’ and not the beginning of a menu section titled CLASSICS.

The food was good, pretty standard fare-nothing special. Our server was young and new, but tried so hard to please us. He just didn’t know the menu or wine list very well. Got food before drinks. Probably won’t go there again.

The lasagna we had was 'very' good, though at $20 a dish it was more than a bit pricey (adding a salad was another $3.95). The portion was 'huge," more than a mere mortal could/should eat at one siting. We brought half of our two lasagna dishes home. It was suggested that we simply come in and ask to split one lasagna dish for the two of us - they will even cut the serving in half and give each diner their portion. (Sounded like an excellent idea.) Bread is free, but only if you ask for it - a bit inconvenient for new customers, who don't know to ask. Ambience was pleasant enough - sorta like the old Marie Callander which used to be there. Would recommend this restaurant - give it a try.

The restaurant was empty, but we had a reservation. The host walked us back to a booth between the two kitchen doors! Not a good move. I asked to sit by the window, which he accommodated. Why, in an empty restaurant, do you seat people next to the kitchen? Unbelievable! Thank goodness we had a lovely server and the food was very good. Except for the host, we had a great meal and experience.

I had high hopes with all of the Instagram ads but it was a big let down. Food was basic and there was no live music. When I walked in and saw only 2 other people dining I should have taken that as a hint a got out of there.

We were celebrating my friend’s birthday. She had always wanted the front booth right in front of the fireplace and we lucked out. Moreover, we were pleasantly surprised that Jay Henry guitar player entertained us with classic soft pop music. He played all our favorites. And of course we all loved our entrées. Delicious! Our waiter was friendly and we were content with our service.

The manager, Tim, and our wonderful server, Monica, took such great care of our party of 9! We celebrated a WWII Veteran's 97th birthday and we were treated to a quiet room, perfect service, and delicious food. We've eaten at DiCiccio's before and will return again.

Great restaurant in an old Mimi’s restaurant. These owners are really smart business people. The outside and the inside look like Mimi’s. They spent money wisely and added a lot of Italian pictures on the walls and great Italian music. I hope someday they take out the old Mimi’s booths and use only round tables. Checked table cloths would be a nice touch. The food is outstanding great value. The wine good selection though a little pricey. Service is really great. Support this restaurant they deserve your patronage. I hope this restaurant thrives. Additionally there is a wine and cheese bar with live music. Great place for family gathers and celebrations. .

We picked this place out of the blue after we attended a softball event for the day. Place looked closed but it was open. We were seated pretty quick and the place had about 5 tables of guests in the whole place. There were 3 people in the bar area eating. We Ordered an appetizer that came within minutes then the WAIT began. We waited about 30-40 minutes for our meals with the server Stopping by to apologize regularly. When the food arrived it was great. My calzone was so light and flakey and stuff with meat and cheese. Daughters angel hair pasta and meatballs were good. Wife’s meal Was also very good. Wife ordered a bread pudding and daughter went with the affogoto and loved it. I would lay the fault on the kitchen for the delays and I appreciate the server coming by to let us know “food was coming.” I’d Like to return, but can’t show up hungry because the wait may unpredictable.

Who knew? A jazz ensemble happy hour in Escondido??? Very nice. Food and wine and cocktails to match. Wait staff very good. We enjoyed our Friday night ... will be back.

Let me start with we saying that we really want to like this restaurant. Third time visiting, same result. Food was overpriced and very low quality. The Alfredo sauce was butter, no cheese nor cream….how do you screw that up??!! Carbonara sauce used low quality ingredients (i.e. cheese that was so bad we sent it back). Unfortunately, this is the death spiral for a restaurant that’s cutting corners to cover its overhead. Service was good, but the kitchen needs to figure it out….fast!!

This is the sister restaurant of Bellamy’s in Escondido and that’s where we got the recommendation! After a great night at Bellamy’s we were quite excited to try DiCicco’s. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. We sat in the bar area where there was a live musician who was great. Other than that, the food was not good. My husband got the Alfredo with steak cooked medium. The steak was well done and completely inedible. I got the chicken parm and it was nothing special. The alcoholic beverages were undrinkable, we’ve never had a bad martini and bad Moscow mule till we came here! We really wanted to like it but it was just disappointing.

Just an average Italian restaurant. The menu was limited. Music in the Bar area sounded good and the place was crowded at 6 PM. So go early if you want to eat in the bar. The service was very good. Our server Tatianna was attentive and delightful. They also have a wine cheese bar called Cork and Knife. We didn't go but it looked interesting.

Was fairly bland - had the ravioli Marsala and sauce was way to sweet. Other dishes were bland or just ok. One person had spaghetti and meatballs and liked that - so cool old school place but stick to pizza and spaghetti don’t venture into much else.

Chicken Piccata was delicious and so was the side salad. Portions was were pretty big so took home another meal. I'd skip dessert, it was underwhelming for the price (looks good, but was a let down). I would go back.

We have enjoyed DiCiccos many times for dining, meeting up with friends, having a beverage or two, and enjoying the live music. The ambiance is wonderful and usually not a loud or raucous place. Perfect for enjoying a nice evening with friends or family. Great pizza, appetizers, and entrees…always good food!

Ate for the first time at DiCicco's on Easter Sunday. We sat on the patio and loved it. The service was very attentive - our server Monica was awesome as well as the manager Tim stopping by to check on us. My only disappointment was that the brunch choices were very few, yet they advertised an Easter brunch. We ate off the regular menu and there was no shortage of delicious food and bottomless mimosas (or as I had, a poinsettia). Our choices were fried zucchini, Chicken Piccatta, Spinach Ravioli, Calzone and pizza. No complaints - all were delicious. I would for sure recommend this place and we will be back. Thank you for making our Easter Meal so special.

Went to DiCiccio’s Easter Brunch. Had the choice of the full menu and/or the limited choice of breakfasts. Two of us opted for breakfast, 2 chose from the dinner menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was wonderful, given the fact that the waiter had to constantly refill our Mimosas.
