The server wasn’t as attentive as we expected since she was pretty much serving every table by herself on a Saturday night.
Food was good. We received our appetizer very quickly followed by our mains almost immediately after. This made us feel very rushed. Then, we sat there for a good 30 minutes where no sever came by to check if we wanted desert, wanted another drink or even water. We flagged someone down and asked if they forgot about us which he said yes and apologized stating he had a big group show up late for their reservations (we also had made a reservation) so they were busy. We asked for our bill (he took off the charges for our wine) and left.
Went to District with friends for a pre-Theatre dinner. Checked out the menu and made a reservation online. We arrived and were seated right away. Drink orders were taken promptly and we decided to share some apps and sides. There were lots of great choices on the menu, including the drinks. The fries were a standout - they were so crisp on the outside and perfectly seasoned. Service was quick and friendly. We are planning to go back to sample more of the menu!
Was a great - pre show dinner that offered great food and service.
I made the reservation but they had closed the restaurant for a private event.
Great spot to grab a healthier dinner. The Bowl of Zen and Club Sandwich were both delicious.
Very fresh food and hearty bowls. Enjoyed the fresh cut fries and every meal we ordered was great. Staff was nice and helpful, but seemed rushed even though it wasn't super busy.
Great craft cocktail bar. Service was on point and food was amazing. Would definitely recommend as a great pre/post show location.
I'm obviously old. my comment so often is "Food was delicious. Portions need to be a bit larger!"
Very ambient, amazing setting great for a nice meal, service was slow however. Really good vegetarian options!
Tried this restaurant on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband had the fish and chips - he requested French fries with them and loved his meal. I had the Zen bowl. It was very good. There were hot chilies sprinkled on top but because the lighting was so low, you couldn’t see them to remove them. So the salad was very spicy at times. We shared the cheese cake which was too dry.
The service was efficient.
5 stars for sure.
As a vegetarian with a meat eater husband, this place is awesome! I was unusually spoiled for options. Had the broccoli tacos which I would highly recommend. My husband had the steak which was great and he was happy with the beer selection.
One tiny comment to owners to make this place even better would be to add a dry cider to the menu. There was just one cider option and it was super sweet. But that’s just a personal opinion.
Delicious food, fantastic, sociable and hospitable service from Beth
Nice food, decent drinks. We wanted something relatively light, and had a good, not huge, burger and a steak and mushroom dish. The place is known for innovative cocktails, which tend to be sweet, but one made with turmeric (!) Was quite nice.
Great food at great price. Attentive service.
From the moment we walked in, we felt valued, comfortable and taken care of.
Staff was attentive but not hovering
Food was outstanding and had options for me ( Celiac)
Was empty when we walked in ( noon) and pretty full as we left. Great place for lunch or date night. Will recommend to my guests
We are vegan and have gone to the District Eatery several times. We were disappointed that the number of vegan main entry was down from previous visits. We are still recommending it to friends.
Our waitress was quite rude. Helping people create long-last dining experience didn’t seem like her thing. She made us feel like she graced us with her presence. Def won’t recommend to anyone.
The food was tasty and the table by the window was great for people watching at TIFF. Really wish they served lattes and cappuccinos.
Good food. Pleasant atmosphere. Nice and friendly staff.
While the wait staff was certainly nice, it took an extremely long time for the food to come. I can't imagine how slow this would have been if the restaurant had been full. This was during lunch on a workday and we received our food almost one full hour after we arrived.
Were there for an early Sunday meal. Brunch menu was small but enough items for us. All the food was terrific. Sat outside on the rooftop patio. A perfect day for it. A very small issue was the blowing sound from the HVAC system from a neighbouring building. Enough to be noticed but not enough to be too distracting.
This was my second visit to District. I went when it first opened but was disappointed in the food and the service. I thought I’d give it another try, it’s nice to have a place with multiple vegan options. The service has improved a lot. However, the food is just ok. The dinner portions are not big enough to fill you up. We also ordered the three dips as an appetizer, but the portion size was ridiculously small. Barely enough for one person, let alone three. The ‘guacamole’, which we had to mash ourselves, only had a 1/4 of an avocado in it, which is kind of pathetic. The other two dips came in small cups that ketchup usually comes in. Definitely NOT worth the $12 price.
I was visiting Toronto and was my first time dining at District (I found it on Open Table ). I ordered the naan nachos with chicken and there were TERRIFIC!! if I lived in Toronto I would return frequently, but probably never order any other item because these were TOO GOOD to ever pass.
Nice and varied food options that address different lifestyles. And cocktails were delicious too.
Great food with unique options. A little something for everyone. Not a place if you are in a hurry, however.
Paris (our server) was amazing. My son has allergies and its not easy to find places that he can go to have a great meal. But, Paris took the time to ask questions and then talked with the kitchen to make sure we had options. Son had a great time choosing what he wanted and when the food came he was even more amazed.
We’ll definitely be going back and if you deal with allergies or even if you dont and just want a healthier time out dining...this is the place.
Thanks again, Paris for making a special night even more special!!
Picked the restaurant on a whim and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was okay with some cool decor. The main attraction for me was the number of appealing gluten free options. They were well marked. The food was good and there were enough options what we will be back to try them all.
We went to District Eatery for Summerlicious. I had the mushroom toast (very good) and the zucchini noodles with chicken pesto (also good although the sauce was quite runny and didn't stick to the zucchini 'noodles'). My husband had the mushroom toast and the Bowl of Zen. Unfortunately, there were some very hot peppers cut up in small pieces and sprinkled on top of the ingredients in the bowl, and he took a mouthful of them before realizing how spicy they were. They were so spicy he had to stop eating to cool down and drink water (and most of my beer!). The description of the bowl did not mention spicy peppers. Our waitress advised us to remove the pieces of pepper, which he did - and he was able to eat the rest of his meal after about 15 minutes. Very disappointing as he actually likes spicy food, but he doesn't care for unexpected slivers of very hot peppers! We both finished off with the chocolate torte (this was also very good). A better description of the meal - or a warning about the hot peppers - would have made our experience better. We also found it very noisy.
Service was so slow. We waited forever for her to come and take our drink orders. Then she was asking what we wanted for food right away. We asked for a few moments we’d be there for a while and she was back a sec later. Then nothing. Our food took forever and we asked for a drink menu which took about 15 minutes. And it wasn’t that busy. Just not a great time. We ended up leaving right after eating half our dinner and went to a different place for drinks
Nice place - good vibe. Restaurant, bar and patio sections all good atomosphere
The food at the District is so yummy and good for you. They have great, different cocktails and the rooftop patio is like a little oasis in the middle of the city. One suggestion for the patio, have some fans for the really hot days. Other than that, no complaints and will go back again, so we can try another of their scrumptious offerings.
Had a bite to eat before the Theatre. Good food and ambience, but service was a little slow.
A great restaurant to go to before seeing a theatre show. Good food (delicious, healthy, sizeable portions). Inventive drinks. Lots of variety. Good ambience. Fast and friendly service. Located close to the theatres.
this is the second time I have eaten here and it was just as good as the first...delicious food, good atmosphere, good service, good value for your $ and nicely located just down the street from the theatres. Check it out if you haven't been there - you won't be disappointed
Food was great, close to theatre district. Has a rooftop patio too. The organic beer was delicious.
The staff was very lovely and the food was AMAZING! It was so nice to be able to have healthy options that were extremely delicious!
Decent food, my cocktail was ~ok~ liked being out on the roof deck though :)
Small place with good food .
We always enjoy our time at District and if you're very lucky you might just run into your favorite Blue Jay's back catcher.
Our only complaint is that service can be slow and it can sometimes take a while for someone to notice you standing in the doorway.
