My go to for making a reservation last minute and for an easy place to hang out. The fish and chips was ok, not the most amazing, sangria was good. The service wasn’t too busy but our waitress wasn’t always around and she wasn’t that friendly
Attended for a business lunch with 3 people, including myself. I had a vegan option - "meatless"loaf, one had a vegetarian option - pasta, one had a meat option - club sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I personally really liked the meatless loaf. The loaf itself was tasty, although the gravy was a plus. Roasted veggies and mash were outstanding. Seating was spacious. Ambiance was open, bright, perhaps a little on the loud side for my taste, but didn't impede conversation, although the restaurant wasn't full to capacity either. Service was good. I don't get downtown much, but would definitely go back if the opportunity arises.
Really enjoyed my later afternoon food here!!
District has a healthy take on fish and chips, that I really enjoyed along with the vegan kale Cesar salad.
Would highly recommend
Dinner before theatre.
Server was not very attentive
Love the mushroom toast!
Reasonable drink prices. Menu had a good variety of gluten free and vegan options. Food was tasty. Service was lackluster.
Great vibe, nice bar area and the bartenders were great! Food was delicious and the cocktails are fun and tasty. House wine is good and $1/oz.. no complaints there
Went on a recommendation. Food and service were both great. Server went over the menu when we asked for suggestions. Very helpful and what we chose was delicious Restrooms are in the basement. Ladies room needs some work. Only 1 of 3 stalls had functioning locks.
food takes a really long time to come but it is very tasty.
We went for a gluten free vegan experience. Nice surprises. The best was the pulled cauliflower!! Excellent deserts also. Stir away from the coffee/espresso...
The food was amazing! Very creative and absolutely delicious. I had the naan nachos and would definitely recommend getting them. My friend and I did a little tapas style dinner and shared every dish we got, which is what I recommend doing. You can eat any man or ap by yourself but there are so many good things and they are all so different so I recommend sharing. And it’s not just vegan food they have food option for every diet which is great! In terms of cost. The food was worth it’s price. My friend and I shared two mains and an appetizer, which ended up being 22 dollars (minus alcohol). This is my second time going and I would 100% go again.
I ordered a gluten-free grilled cheese that arrived on regular bread. I'd already taken a couple bites before confirming with the waitress that it was, indeed, gluten-free, to which she replied honestly that there had been a mistake...
She promptly returned the sandwich to the kitchen and brought out the sandwich on gluten-free (much smaller portion than the regular version!!) and was incredibly apologetic. Prior to the mishap, she asked if she could get me a second drink and I said no, thanks. When a second drink arrived, I assumed this was as an apology for the sandwich mistake; however, both the sandwich and the drink I didn't order appeared on the bill.
Luckily I'm not Celiac (just sensitive to gluten), but I believe this could've been handled better. The food here was pretty good but small portions for the price and sub-par service.
Food and ambience was great, our female server (Jade) was by far amazing. However, the male server that night was extremely rude to my fiancé and I, after getting the manager involved he talked about us to other customers. Very poor service on his part. Restaurant would prosper more without him.
LOVED this place! Special shout out to our waitress who brought my daughter’s raspberry soda with a sparkler!
Fun spot with a creative drink menu. Good food at reasonable prices.
Amazing food!! They are so creative with vegetables and some unique ingredients. Service not as good but would definaely go back as loved the food.
Great menu. Delicious food. Healthy dishes. Vegan options. Great prices. Good ambiance. Would highly recommend.
Remembered this as Hush. Pre theatre dinner enjoyed and would do again the flank steak was excellent also the flourless torte
Overall good. The grilled cheese is good, the Mediterranean flatbread less so. Good options for vegetarians and the staff was quick and efficient.
Went for Summerlicious. The choices were very limited, and too similar. We were disappointed a number of times. When we close our preferred drinks, 3 of 4 were told they had run out last night. 2 out of 4 were not able to get our 1st choice off of their already limited menu. There was 3 different times that plates/glasses were dropped and broken in the kitchen. One of those times was directly on top of a food order. The wait staff was also understaffed and overworked.
Overall, we were disappointed with our dining experience at the District Eatery. Three of us had the Summerlicious menu and one person ordered off the regular menu. There were lots of vegetarian/vegan options which is great, but the food was somewhat boring overall. It took about 45 minutes to get our appetizers and when they finally came, they did not seem particularly fresh (eg. the hummus on the trio plate came with a "skin" on it - likely from being under a heat lamp for too long). The protein plate was ok - the steak was probably the tastiest thing we tried. The chicken karrage salad was ok (chicken was tasty - kale salad was somewhat boring). Initially when we ordered, we were told that they had run out of the vegan cheesecake (which was fine by us - that's not what any of us wanted). However, when the desserts finally came (another long wait after the entrees were done), we were told that they no longer had any berries and cream (I'm not sure how a restaurant runs out of such simple ingredients), so they brought a vegan cheesecake instead for me. I never wanted that in the first place and I wasn't impressed that they just presumed what I wanted instead of the dessert I ordered rather than asking me for my 2nd choice. I asked for the chocolate torte instead and it was ok, but not great. Overall, we were all disappointed in this dinner experience - it certainly seems to be overrated when I look at other reviews.
We booked the table on the rooftop patio, but we got it in the restaurant instead on the patio.
The second thing was quality of the food, we ordered curry and district bowl, the both dishes were dissapointment, totally unseasoned, in the first one you could barely taste the curry sauce.
Very cool, hip, laidback vibe. Delicious food, love it there!
Different i terms of menu, for example, the bluberry grilled cheese... and good vegan options.
Went for summerlicious. Had to ask for the special menu. Main courses arrived before appetizer, which arrived a few minutes later, but they deducted the price of the appetizer from the bill. Food was very good and it was a busy Wed. at 6:15 . We will return again before theatre or symphony.
Online menu did not match up with what we were presented when we arrived . Very limited options for carnivores who like real bread!
Our server took our food and drinks away before we were done which was annoying but other than that it was good. I’ve had excellent service before.
Poor handling of the number of customers. When we went there, apparently there was a large sized group that was 'priority' in the upstairs section, which meant everyone else was a bit neglected. Orders took to long and my stay went over my one-hour lunch break. This restaurant should be able to manage the numbers and it wasn't even at full capacity. I'd rather they refuse customers and keep good service than keep accepting customers and provide terrible service. I can see other tables also getting impatient as well. Don't think I plan on going back here to be honest.
Just bad all around. Food was cold. Tiny portions. O flavor. Really disappointing. Especially when my daughter tried to pretend that everything was ok..
The summerlicious menu seemed like a great idea and great value for money, however after finishing the meal the food just simply is not worth the money. The starter salad was pretty boring, seemed like a simple bag of mixed lettuce, tomatoes and a dressing - not to mention the small portion. Although the entree was a tad better, it also seemed like a cheap recreation of a "quesadilla" with just a plain tortilla, beans and cheese, the sort of thing you make when in a hurry at home, quite frankly similar to Taco Bell. Lastly the vegan cheesecake looked beautiful however the consistency was completely off, not thick, not sweet, the "Crust" was very mushy and just not pleasant. The overall meal was 2 out of 5 stars for lacking creativity, small portions and just generally seeming like it was thrown together in 5 minutes.
The avocado wontons are great. As is the cauliflower curry bowl. I wanted to try so many things on the menu, I’ll just have to come back!
Service was great! Food was amazing, everything everyone order was a 10/10! Drinks were delicious and inventive! I went on Friday for the first time with some friends from out of town, went back Sunday night!!
Friendly service. Flourless chocolate cake was fabulous.
Great service, nice patio in the back, very friendly service. Food was fresh and tasty! Fair prices. Dessert wasn’t tasty, but everything else about the place it great!
Music was a little intense but patio was nice, food was great and good value.
Great options for vegan/vegetarian eaters, some recipes definitely worth trying at home. Service wasn’t greet during lunch hours even though there weren’t a lot of patrons in the restaurant. Patio was pretty and worth trying out, didn’t get anything from their drinks menu tho. Recommend for their vegan options but wish service was better
Fabulous- service folks were excellent, food was amazing! Definitely will make this a regular place to go when in Toronto!
This is a great spot where carnivores, vegetarians and vegans can cohabitate happily. I had a few concerns on the overall experience - we asked for water and it didn't come till we asked a second time, the base of my wine glass had a chip in it, our apps came out at the same time as our mains which meant for a bit of a wait - but the food itself was so good that I was willing to overlook them.
Service was very slow. No fresh ground pepper available, only a shaker when asked. Food was average, ingredients were missing from some of the dishes. Not a good experience!
I was very happy with the our experience. The food was very good, as were the drinks. I was especially happy with the vegan options and would recommend it to anyone who is a vegan.
