   Our dining experience here was a mixed bag, though most importantly, the food was excellent. We ordered a la carte as opposed to the tasting menu. The portions were relatively small, but well prepared and seasoned on point. Very good flavours. The service staff were exceptionally friendly, if a little unpolished. The main issue with the dining experience here is that Don Alfonso aims very high, and enjoys many accolades, but still misses the mark on a few fronts. Our table wasn't ready upon arrival (we were ~15min early for our reservation) so we were led to the lounge where there were several couches arranged for seating. I didn't need to sit down to know that they would be uncomfortable, besides the fact they looked tired and worn too. Management ought to sit down as though they were guests and experience firsthand what it's like to have a conversation and to pick up/put down a drink whilst seated on one of these couches. My dining partners and I all had to perch ourselves on the edge of the couch to sit comfortably. Our primary server was very friendly as were the other food servers that delivered and explained our dishes. Napkins were refolded when one of us left the table (something increasingly overlooked at many other restaurants these days), though I had to reuse cutlery after the first course. There was a reset between 2nd and 3rd course. The table was never crumbed. Empty cocktail glasses stayed on the table throughout most of dinner (though they were finished prior to the first course). The sommelier never visited the table to check if we were interested in wine with dinner. And while we never asked, a customary stop by the table to check on how dinner was going would have been appreciated (she may have even enticed us into at least a glass for a couple of us, if not a bottle for the table). So while the food was very good, there is definitely room for management to move the rest of the experience from good to great.

   We’d been to Don Alfonso before and loved it, so when my partners parents came to visit we just had to take them. And it did not disappoint. Food and service were impeccable. Pricey but worth every penny.

   Our Dinner could not have been better at Don Alfonso. Being at Casa Loma only enhanced the experience as the room was SPECTACULAR. The food was beyond delicious, there were 4 of us and everyone's food was so tasty, ( we shared). Can't wait til they open at the Hilton, we will definitely return for another meal.

   Perfect evening! Chef even brought signature dish thats in the running for a Michelin star to our table which was a nice touch! Think if they stay in casa loma the star is a lock - all the best at the new location - extremely happy we got to enjoy before relocating!!!

   What a wonderful memorable evening. We were lucky to have experienced Don Alfonso 1890 in the historic Casa Loma, what a beautiful venue! Everything was fantastic and could not have been better from the beautifully chosen crystal glasses our cocktails arrived in through to the final details before we left, it is evident that the restaurant is magnificently run and managed. The food at every bite was delicious, we were definitely not disappointed. I read some reviews that the staff were fantastic and they were. Benjamin, our main server was a pleasure to have take care of us and was supported by a team of engaging associates. Everyone was personable and was pleased to engage in conversation. We would not hesitate to recommend Don Alfonso 1890.

   Our dinner was not a meal. It was an experience! We opted for the Chef’s tasting menu and each course was an absolute delight. Our server Nelton was delightful and very passionate about the food there and was super committed to ensuring our dinner was spectacular. The sommelier was warm and so knowledgeable, it was a pleasure to speak with him about his recommendations. Applause for the whole team for fabulous food accompanied by exceptional service

    canape were not Impreesed at all, especially it was the starter, very small portion and taste need to work on, but surprisingly main course are much better, the bison is good, red snapper is good, the pasta is good dessert are fine wine pairing not good at all

    We really enjoyed the fine dining experience. The eel gelato I was surprisingly our favourite dish since we usually think of gelato as sweet and not savoury. Overall, we thought all the dishes were good and well prepared. Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave us some interesting facts about the foods as well. Definitely something worth experiencing when in Toronto.

    I waited 3 years to go to this restaurant but Covid had other plans. I finally made it and the experience and meal exceeded my expectations. Every mouthful was decadent and visually stunning. I tried food which I typically wouldn’t try and I’m so happy I did. The duck breast WOW, the vermicelli WOW and the lobster WOW. Notice a theme. Dessert was delicate and delicious. Flavours are unique and subtle and created by a true genius. Best meal I’ve ever had. So proud that this restaurant is in Toronto!

    Such an amazing experience unbelievable, the staff the food the taste it all just adds up and the menu is well built like a journey from the appetizers to main course to the dessert it is like levels of flavors adds up a level with every serving. I truly loved the staff's good service and taking their time to check on you and make sure you get everything you want I truly recommend it . Me and my friend will for sure come back

    I will be honest, when they called me to tell me that unfortunately the only wheelchair accessible place they had for us was in the second dining room. I was looking forward to celebrating my husbands birthday in style. Second dining didn’t really feel the same, or so I thought! They made sure to make this experience as memorable as possible! From our table location, to our service, to the FOOD. everything was out of this world. My husband is a trained chef and after his injury he had to leave his passion, however yesterday Don Alphonso reignited a side of him that i haven’t seen in a while. Thank you for a memorable and beautiful evening. Huge shout out to a Nelton for everything last night 💕

    Don Alfonso 1890 was truly an epic experience, especially while it’s temporarily situated in Casa Loma. The food, drinks and service were certainly Michelin standards and we couldn’t have been happier with our night!

    This is definitely a special occasion type of dinner. Better enjoyed with friends! I highly recommend the tasters menu with wine pairing. We added the rigatoni… it’s their signature. I’ve dined twice at Don Alfonso. Once @ the old location, on Toronto and now at Casa Loma. Both were amazing. Dress comfy there is a lot of food to enjoy.

    Unbelievable. One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We are new to the city and were celebrating an anniversary. The food was phenomenal, but the staff were better. They made us feel so at home. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER MADE GENUINE CONVERSATION WITH US. Just, unreal. This wasn't just a dinner. It was a welcoming to this great city and Don Alfonso nailed it. Unreal.

    Chosen 1860 just by a chance, but good choices said my husband. Food is perfectly fine and service so on ~ We absolutely will come again with our friends . Probably on June when it’s reopen again somewhere in Dt area perhaps by the lake next time should be on my husband’s birthday, with friends gathering together.

    Fabulous fine dining. Every bite was amazing and the service was exceptional! The rigatoni was truly something to experience. The bite size desserts at the end of the meal were an indulgent presentation for the senses. I wish they were not relocating because Casa Loma’s atmosphere really made our meal feel special

    Everything was excellent. From the front desk to the bill. Amazing food and service. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and useful. And the food outstanding. We had the A La Carte menu and every single dish was to die for. Our favourites: the risotto, the pistachio dessert, the lobster… and having the opportunity to dine in the beautiful Casa Loma was a great experience.

    Set in the historic and majestic background of Casa Loma, Don Alfonso shares a lobby entrance to the old Victorian Castle with its sister restaurant Bluebloods. The maître d' is very proper and the welcome is very professional. The dinner was held in a large well lit room reminiscent of a grand breakfast room. The menu featured two types of menus: a $180 set menu that can be purchased with a $110 wine flight or a $120 à la cart menu with the caveat that the whole table had to pick one menu or the other. The set menu did live up to the expectation that Don Alfonso provided an excellent meal in keeping with their advertising of best Italian restaurant outside of Italy. If there was a minor downside though was the $15 parking charge especially given the pricing this of the meal.

    Over all my wife and I really enjoyed the evening , food was great , service was outstanding the room and the mood overall was very nice. The only thing that was off putting was the front desk placed at a terrible table when we were first seated. We asked to be moved the server did his best , suggesting he could not find the manager. But with so many empty tables we were wondering why we were not seated in the main dining room but in fact placed in a area that seem to be mostly blue blood restaurant diners …found that very unusual, but it was not a huge damper on the evening since overall it was quite nice evening. My message to management would be to better serve the diners by offering preferred seating rather than starting with the worst seating and trying to work our way to a better table

    It was our first time at Don Alfonso and we chose it to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The setting in Casa Loma is beautiful. The attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was among the best that we have experienced. The food was of great quality. We really enjoyed it.
