    Food was good not exceptional. The space felt cold and dated, the bathroom was dirty. For the cost and anticipation we had to eat here, ultimately it was a let down. Not worth the $$$ oh and they started playing music that did not fit the restaurant/was moody setting or relaxing at about 8:30. I preferred the quiet because it was quite bad

    Let me start off by saying that our sever Benjamin made our experience at Don Alfonso over the top. We will definitely be back! He was so knowledgeable about the menu and answered all the questions we had about the dish. We were here to celebrate my partner's birthday and it was just an exceptional service and thoughtfulness. We had the a la carte tasting menu, and the chef selection in the beginning set the bar high for the rest of the course. I got the Beef Carpaccio, Ravioli, and the Lobster Dish. I just found the lobster very chewy but the flavours were great. My partner got the Duck (Absolutely fantastic I would highly recommend this), Vermicelli with Mackel, and the Bison (we found that it was an interesting execution but with the denseness of the bison the sourdough bread made it more dense. It could use a little bit more sauce. Overall, great dining experience, and would definitely come again to try other foods on the menu. Also great news of either the skyline or the lake. We went during sunset and it was a delight.

    The signature menu was delicious and very creative, one of the best culinary experiences of our lives. The service was also great, and we talked to the chef at the end of the dinner, he is very kind. Totally recommended!

    Lovely service. Beautiful presentation. Only very limited vegetarian options and unfortunately my carnivore colleagues were not overwhelmed- the view is lovely, but I would not say it’s on par with other Michelin star restaurants in Toronto.

    Food quality is very average. Does not worth the money being asked. Food temperature is not even warm enough. Not sure how they are Michelin rated. Tasting menu primarily include fish and is not appealing to customers who might not like "fish"type of menu.

    Excellent service, atmosphere, views, food was second to none, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to treat your special lady / someone for their birthday. And I would revisit just to try the tender Bison dish again.. WoW! I wish they would fix the restaurant rotation so the views could change as intended, like "back in the day", but you are invited to walk around which made up for it.

    Don Alfonso met all my expectations and then exceeded them. It was a fabulous experience from first entering all the way to the way we were very kindly exited. Our server was extremely knowledgeable, patient and attentive to any needs or concerns we may have had. It was an extremely peasant experience and the food was indescribable.

    We celebrated a milestone birthday at Don Alfonso, ultimately choosing the signature tasting menu for the group. Despite the food being great (5/5) and leaving with full stomachs, there was something about the service that threw us off. Our main server was great, energetic & friendly. However, we were left feeling rushed at some points throughout the service as different groups of servers came to ask to clear the table after we had already told (two times previously) groups of servers that we were still enjoying/ waiting for bread. Three different groups of servers came to ask to clear our table within 3 mins or so (what felt like a. minute between asks) - it was just strange, a little off putting - so when the third group of servers came we just let them clear the table to avoid any further push. Beyond this - I would still recommend Don Alfonso for a great food experience.

    Absolutely sensational! The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was superb beyond words. I am so thrilled we finally made it here for my husband's birthday and we will be back sooner than later!

    Thank you to Don Alfonso 1890! My husband and I gifted our newlywed son and daughter-in-law to a dinner there while at the Westin Harbour Castle. They were just amazed by all the wonderful dishes they had. There wasn't one choice that they didn't enjoy as much. In fact they said that the bread with the truffle butter was so good they were afraid to spoil their appetites. Although this couple is still young, they're well travelled and love good food. They said it was the best meal they'd ever had anywhere and it was just the perfect highlight after their wedding. They so enjoyed working their way through the a la carte menu! Thank you to everyone at Don Alfonso who made them feel so special! We really appreciate the care you took to make this such a great memory for their very special time.

    I had high hopes for a Michelin star restaurant. Some courses were ok others were hard to get down. The seafood pasta was so salty it nearly wasn’t edible. The tartar starter was pretty tasteless thus making like swallowing lumps of slime. When he brought me out what looked to be a finger length of breaded fish and called it “a tube of fish, I nearly lost it in hysterics”. I paid $220 a person for a fancy fish stick.

    The food is tasty in majority. I didn’t give 5 star because the lamb main course was not good, tasteless, consistency was rubbery and hard to chew. So for a Michelin star I expect every dish to be pleasant and exceptional and that lamb was nowhere close to that standard. The rest of the dishes (carpaccio, eggplant tart, crab ravioli, risotto and the bison) were good. Overall good place to try once for a special occasion.

    A wonderful evening with friends not seen in years to celebrate their birthday and catchup. Liam(?) was more than pleasant and informative about the restaurant’s inspiration and the evening’s offerings, the team with him were equally matched in their professionalism. We enjoyed the 3 course a-la-cart offering and were impressed with each dish. I had the duck to start, ravioli, and the opted to go off-menu for the Waygu as my entree and was very pleased with having made that choice (onion marmalade or was it chutney, whatever it was, YYYYUUUMMMMM!!). Each plate was visually stunning and a treat to the palate as the tastes were sublimely balanced … let’s say the food was such that the meal had some pretty quiet as we were all focused on our food. I definitely will be back to sample more of the offerings … Service was definitely equal to the Michelin experiences I’ve had in my globe trotting. The thoughtful touches to mark my friend’s birthday definitely left an impression and will make this a birthday-trip for them to remember. Oh, forgot to mention the view … an amazing lake vista with pastel and Barbie pink tinted clouds … A wonderful experience shared with wonderful friends. Complimenti Don Alfonso … grazie mille

    We attended Don Alfonso's for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was impeccably decorated, spotless, and the view (either city or lake) was incredible. Although not an over abundance, the food was excellent, and the service best of all. "Regen" was our waiter. He was attentive, a great conversationalist, friendly, yet professional. I Said to my wife, his service and the overall experience made this one of the best dinner experiences we've had in our many years of marriage. Thanks "Regan" for being a contributing factor in making this a fantastic evening/dinner.
