Wonderful food, very labour intensive cooking as befitting the asking price. Definitely worthy of at least a couple of Michelin stars if they ever deemed Toronto worthy of a visit. Very polished and smooth service. The wine pairing was well chosen and perfectly compliment the food dishes. Even the petit fours arrived with a great flourish to end the lovely meal. We were also given a guided tour of the restaurant including the wine cellar which further enhanced our experience. This is not your everyday restaurant but for sure we’ll be returning.
Underwhelming. Expected a lot more given the hype and history of the brand.
Good food but very small portion.
For the price very inexperienced servers.
Over priced. Extended wine list which is super marked up.
We enjoyed the classic tasting menu. Every dish was delicious one better than the next. Decor was stunning, service was fantastic , classy place but not stuffy .. a little noisy unable to hear the server for most of his descriptions of each course. Definitely recommend and would
Like to return if or when the menu changes It was. A great added touch to have a tour of the restaurant, kitchen and wine cellar
Not good for birthdays
Way over price. The place is absolutely stunning . Wasn’t very happy with the food.
Completely overpriced. Dinner for 4 was $2,000. Not worth it.
We were very impressed with the sommelier and the whole wine pairing experience!
To me, it is better than Alo. I have been to many 3 star resturants and this is like a 1.5 to 2 star. It will be difficult to book a table in the near future. Book quickly.
It was my husbands birthday. We really enjoyed the food. Every dish we ordered was delicious!
Had a wonderful meal and experience celebrating a birthday. The food and service were incredible. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this beautiful restaurant.
This restaurant has a good service attitude, a beautiful setting and a good environment.
The meal we had was one of the best I ever tasted. We had the Classic menu and the wine pairing, so delicious. The chef is very talented and it is evident in the expertly crafted dishes, which are refined and original. The setting is formal but not stuffy. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The sommelier was very knowledgeable.
A little bit pricy but totally worth it.
Amazing spot for a special occasion
Daniel is an extraordinary and creative chef. Our dishes were magical!
Amazing food and service! Went for a birthday and the restaurant exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend. :)
Not a quiet place for dating. I come for celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday however, we sit in a remote location and they have no behaviour for the birthday celebrating. If you no work for the birthday why you have option for me to choose when i make reservation？ I believe it is usual that restaurant prepare just HBD words on the final dessert.
We were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. It was an amazing evening. Service was outstanding, food flavours exquisite. Wine service fabulous, thank you Alex. My suggestion would be to up size some portions even if it means adjusting pricing. We were at least one course shy of satiated even after 8 plates. All the best, I hope you solve the mystery of Michelin in Canada, it’s a good start.
The experience is the best in Toronto.
The attention to detail is truly unmatched.
We had wines from all over the world including Lebanon and it was Awesome.
The fresh truffle risotto was the best I ever had.
Sommelier Chris was great.
Server Giovanna was the perfect Italian mix to the dinner.
Better then any show in Toronto.
Sit back & ENJOY!!!
Celebrated bday here. Service is exceptional and we were offered a tour of the restaurant at the end of the meal, which was the highlight of the evening and showed their hospitality. The tasting menu is quite extensive so make sure you come hungry. Meat courses are superb while I feel some fish dishes can be more appealing. Overall, service and ambiance definitely make it an excellent choice for special occasions!
Everything was amazing, portions were a little small.
Everything was absolutely perfect! Service, food, ambience. Would definitely go again!
Celebrated a birthday dinner, received a wine stopper as keepsake.
This was an absolutely excellent, once in a lifetime meal. Excellent flavours and wine pairings, super service, and beautiful site.
Cold air kept blowing from the ceiling. Beautiful restaurant but seats made conversation challenging as they were spread out. Vegan risotto with truffles was $100. A la carte dishes were ridiculously small. We have been to the Amalfi Coast and dined at upscale establishments including Michelin star restaurants before. Dishes have to be more creative and reasonably priced to get patrons to come back time after time.
Food was outstanding and very creative. Wine selection was offered an interesting selection of uniqueness. Service was attentive and very intuitive. Overall, a very special dinner experience with warm and friendly people and delicious food.
The whole menu was really balanced, loved the duck breast with Galla apple sauce, brilliant match
This is the restaurant that will cause the Michelin Guide to produce a Toronto edition.
Overall a very pleasant experience. We found the noise level ok at first when we arrived at. 7:15, but, the place was onle about 10% full, by the end of thd night when the restaurant was full, our guests on the other side of the table could barely hear the sommalier describe the wine tasting menu.
Best tasting menu in Toronto. Really hoping Toronto gets more restaurants like Don Alfonso! Truly enjoyed the tasting menu and will go back to again when menu changes.
Fantastic!!! Waitress was amazing, we will definitely be back
Between exquisite gourmet and pleasant ambience, an evening at Don Alfonso 1890 is an experience no one wants to miss.
Also, the decor is amazing!
Three letters Wow!!!!!!!
staffs were super friendly, they explained every dish thoroughly and answered our questions with no hesitation, which showed their professionality. open-kitchen, without glasses, clear view of the food making process. service was amazing, gave us a tour of the whole restaurant as well. food was great, no so creative but certainly have perfect quality. hoping to try out the contemporary menu as well. definitely deserve to revisit.
I was there for my birthday 🎂 and absolutely had the most wonderful experience up in the bar lounge area. The place is so beautiful and I love the open kitchen being able to see the kitchen team create incredible dishes .
I would have love to sit in the downstairs dining area and hopefully that will be a option in the near future ...
This was one of the most impressive meals we've ever had and is one of Toronto's most elevated dining experiences. Kudos to the management group for bringing a taste of a Micheline-rated Italian restaurant to Toronto.
Fantastic Chef's Tasting Menu and servers. Ambiance was beautiful. Hidden gem in downtown Toronto.
Delicious and well presented
The wait staff was very helpful
By far the best overall dining experience I have had in Toronto over the past decade. The ambience, superb attentive service and the servings that tickles all of one's senses make it worth the hefty price. The wine pairings with the tasting menu and sommelier's description were excellent and the tour of the kitchen and wine bins were an added treat. My colleague and I found this experience one that we would repeat in the future.
