Don Francesco Ristorante
We were greeted and were directed to our table right away. Sean served us and even made the wine selection for us. Food was amazing and the service was great we were not rushed and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Thanks Sean, Anna, and the chef.
Will definately be back. Brilliant.
The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent! The owner came out to talk to us. He added greatly to our dining experience.
The restaurant was scheduled to open at 5:00. We made a 5:15 reservation. At 5:30 the restaurant had still not yet opened. We have no idea of the food or the ambience, because we didn't wait around to see how long it would take them to get up and running.
All the food we ordered tasted delicious and the portions are just right for an Asian woman, so you end up satiated but not too full to proceed with the rest of your day. However, considering the cost, the portions were rather small.
Well, they have a history they are trying to live up to, and I don’t think that they are quite there yet. The previous management/ownership, had set quite a high bar on all the ratings categories. For the quality of food and the price point, I most likely won’t be visiting again for lunch any time soon. I am not price averse but it has to be relevant to the quality of food- my companion ordered wine by the glass (it was lunch after all) and he was pretty sure it had been opened at least one and perhaps several days before and mentioned it to the waiter who offered to change it, my companion declined and tried it anyways, the second glass he ordered appeared (tasted) to be a fresh bottle. So good marks for service- seafood linguine was fair at best , burrata Caprese salad was small for 18$ calamari streaks appies was fair but once again I am comparing same dishes to previous owner/operator product, which was very good. Previous iteration of this restaurant had different pricing for lunch VS dinner - this one has the same pricing and it is probably a bit pricey for lunch. This may account for the restaurant only having one other customer (table) at lunch time when I arrived 12:50)
I have been to this restaurant in the past for lunch and it was very good. I wanted to celebrate my son's university graduation with a family dinner at Don Francesco. It was a Tuesday night and it was very quiet. There was probably no more than a half a dozen tables. I made reservation through OpenTable and mentioned it was a celebration. A reservation would not have been needed. The waiter was good but the selection of entrees were not. We had a party of six and 3 of the entrees we wanted were not available (Lamb Rack, Osso bucco, Veal Chop). When the entrees came, 3 of the dishes came out and we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes before the other 3 entrees were brought out. I did send an email to the restaurant but did not get a reply back. I cannot believe that they did not have the meat entrees available. The waiter did not mention the availability before we ordered and had to come back to let us know. How can a restaurant run out of things on a Tuesday night at 5:30pm. I was very disappointed in the overall dinner and would not recommend this restaurant.
We waited for 1.5 hours and the food never came
Made the reservation. Apparently they were fully booked for a private dinner. I felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode: You can make the reservation, but you couldn't hold the reservation.
I have been to this restaurant before at its previous location, so I was excited to try it again now that it is closer to my office. SO DISAPPOINTING. I remember the service being outstanding with great food.
The restaurant is lovely inside. We were a bit early for lunch at 11:30 and were the only customers. Both of us ordered lobster bisque. Strangely it had 2 prawns in it (not chunks of lobster). It was okay. My companion clearly didn’t enjoy it as his bowl looked basically untouched. The server didn’t ask if everything was okay when he took the bowl away.
I ordered the sable fish. The food took so long to come! Restaurant was basically empty so not sure what took so long. While to fish was okay, there were many bones (at least a dozen) so the preparation was terrible. When the server came to clear the table, I pointed out all the bones and said that he should let the chef know.
The bill was brought, no apology from chef, we paid and went on our way.
I think this was disappointing for this caliber of restaurant and I wouldn’t recommend it.
About as good as it gets. We spent just over 4 hours over dinner We shared some appies and everyone was thumbs up for their dinner and Jack's attentive service. The white tablecloth dining room has a mountain view and an outside deck. There's craft beer and a lengthy wine list starting around $45. The restaurant can be accessed totally undercover from Skytrain/Seabus. It's near the seawall, convention centre and cruise terminal. Best find for me in quite a while.
The food and service were definitely not up to par with the old location.
Our dinner at Don Francesco was fabulous! I had the chicken Parmesan. The chicken was so tender and the veg that came with were cooked just right and so tasty. My friend had the pasta carbonara and she said it was very tasty. We both just about licked our plates clean! This restaurant has moved from up Burrard Street to Cordova by the waterfront. A much better location. Everything is new and the atmosphere is wonderful! I would go back there again and again and could highly recommend the restaurant to everyone!
Service was horrible.
Very quiet, great service and delicious selection on the menu. The tiramisu is always one of my favourites.
Amazing! Was excited to see the restaurant had reopened in a new location, but worried I wouldn't like it as much as their Burrard and Robson location. Total upgrade! I love it. Better than the previous location. The food was so delicious - both the spinach salad and the butternut squash with mushrooms were absolutely divine! The service was attentive and we felt very welcome. Great for business meetings and for private lunches... nothing bad to say about this place. Well done DF team!
David was our waiter, he was outstanding, very attentive, professional. Pasta was cooked perfectly, thoroughly enjoyed my Kale salad. The focaccia bread was so fresh. Cant wait to go back again. Beautiful setting.
The food was excellent like the old
Don Francesco at Burrard Street. Really
I was missing the old service. The old from
the heart service. The Italian service! But then we are not in Italy are we!
Went to Don Francesco after VIWF seminar , easy walk and nice open feel at restaurant.
Food was better than ever , veal chop , veal picatta , and carbanera all fabulous. Perfect way to cap off the evening.
Great place. Daniel and Sean provided impeccable old fashioned service. Food was superb. Veal picatta was the best I have ever had. Everything was very tasty and done just right. Lovely location, quiet (without the stupid head banging bass music that many restaurants think we want to listen to).
We will definitely make this a regular go to spot.
Just great to find such a superb restaurant. Full marks all around.
excellent food good service and wine, has not lost any thing in the move
It’s was amazing food, great service, and a nice setting.
It is good to see Don Francesco's opened again. I prefer the previous address but this room will be fine once they finish "warming " it up. There is also plans for an outdoor patio for warm weather dining . We were greeted warmly by the Maitre d'. Our server, Dave was very pleasant and efficient. The food was good but not great. I had an Italian sausage pasta and my wife ordered Halibut but they were out of Halibut so she chose the salmon. The wine list is not very extensive but we did find a tasty Amarone. My only real complaint was the horrible music that was playing too loudly. I expect an upscale Italian restaurant to play some good old Italian tunes or something calm and peaceful.... We will return again in a few months and see how they are progressing.
Lousy service, had to wait 5 minutes before someone actually got to the front desk to seat me to meet my business dinner party.
Lousy food and lousy service
Lobster Bisque soup was nothing to die for
There are better Italian restaurants out there then this
As the resturant just relocated they seem to be still getting used to the change. Otherwise is was an acceptable experience and the waiter was excellent.
Dine out Vancouver.
Service was mediocre at best very slow and the Tiramisu was very disappointing, small and I didn’t taste any mascarpone. Lobster bisque had 2 minuscule pieces of lobster I could barely see it. Was looking forward to a great meal experience for our first visit and was very disappointed.
Service was mediocre at best, and unfortunately the food did not make up for it
We booked a table for the dine out experience . We used to frequent the other location often, and thought we would try the new location out. Our server acted annoyed and wasn’t attentive or helpful. Our lobster bisque was beyond salty and almost inedible . When we left the host was chomping down on a subway sandwich. We thought that was very unprofessional . Who greets guests while eating subway ? Weird . All I all we miss the old Francesco’s .
Food was terrible. From appetizer being bland, entree being dry, and dessert being wet and moist. And on top of that, service being non existence with the waiter, but hostess was nice - hung our coats and asked how everything was after dinner.
Was probably one of the worst and most disappointing restaurant choices we have made. Terrible management, unpersonable service, and mediocre food. All were reasonably easy to fix but considering other reviews, the management does not seem to be placing a priority on improvement. Read reviews after we booked and was hoping the positives were actual reviews but doubt it. Go somewhere else....
We went for Dineout Vancouver and our experience was a disappointing gong show. When we arrived, the Manager seemed totally confused as to where to seat us. He offered us a high booth in the lounge, which we declined so then he offered us a table directly in front of the entrance so everytime the front door opened, a draft came directly to our table. I booked my reservation weeks in advance and as an OpenTable VIP, I expected a nice table in the dining room, which I requested in my notes on the reservation. The Manager was totally oblivious and simply walked away leaving us to fend for ourselves. We eventually moved to the high top in the lounge as it was better than freezing all night. The service was extremely slow, we didn't get bread until almost an hour after we arrived, and finally asked if we could give our order, as the drinks were taking forever to arrive. Two of us ordered Lobster Bisque, which both arrived ice cold. The Caesar salad arrived warm, instead of crisp and cold. The entrees were all hot and tasty so that was the highlight of the evening. The desserts were good as well. They seemed totally overwhelmed and under staffed, and I really took offense by the Manager's lack of consideration and poor attitude. At the end of the evening, we asked to speak to him to voice our concerns about our dining experience, and were told he was too busy to speak to us. However, I saw him standing at the front entrance doing nothing. I was really insulted by his behaviour and obviously he has little customer service experience. I would rather take my business elsewhere.
the service top notch right from walking in the door. The food was well prepared with excellent ingredients and well presented. the restaurant was full and lively but not too load to be able to have a relaxed conversation.
We try the Dinne Out Vancouver menu last weekend. The food and service was good. The seafood linguine was very impressed and tasty and also the dessert was delicious. If the linguine 's portion has much more it will be wonderful.
Took longer than expected but food was tasty
Newer restaurant. Needs work in social skills for the waiters.
Went on New Year’s Eve and disappointed by the overall experience. I booked on Open Table and, unlike other restaurants in the area, there was no mention of a ‘New Year Special’. On arrival there was also no mention of a ‘New Year Special’. We ordered drinks and were then handed a New Year’s Eve menu with no price on it. At this point I had to ask the waiter what the deal was to be told that it was $100 per person for a 4 course meal. Given the usual Open Table $$ rating the cost appeared high. Given the time, 1930, and likelihood of finding a table at another restaurant in the area we had little choice but to stay at the restaurant. Regardless, I feel that the restaurant should have been more up front in publishing details of the limitations of their New Year’s Eve service. The food choices and quality were good but it was hard to justify the expense of the meal for 4. Maybe worth a visit at the $$ rate but not worth the $600 total for 4 on New Year’s Eve.
Took them 20 minutes to get us water and let us know they ran out of all meat.
Although we had a reservation booked from the day before.
I would absolutely never go there again!
Even had to help ourselves grab our coats as noone was there to help.
On the Christmas Eve. They had fixed course meal. Appetizer, secondly, main and dessert. Food was good. But the service was okay and it took forever that the food was served. I get it that it was a busy night but it took 2 hours to get the second meal was served. We have2 well behaved kids but it was too long for them. We decided to take main and dessert to the hotel. The host was kind of rude too. Again food was great but they kind of ruined our Christmas dinner. Oh top on that, drinks were bad. My Jameson and soda was so weak and Manhattan tasted just Vermouth... It was $70 Canadian each course.
Christmas Eve with our parents who
I thought it closed down, I am happy to hear it just relocated. Love the food, the wine list was great, and the service was amazing. Only thing was that the food took a little longer than usual.
Our server(I'm sorry I forgot his name) was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.
Very sad to see Don Francesco’s is not what it used to be. Rude staff, poor food.
