Don Francesco Ristorante
It’s was amazing food, great service, and a nice setting.
Lousy service, had to wait 5 minutes before someone actually got to the front desk to seat me to meet my business dinner party.
Lousy food and lousy service
Lobster Bisque soup was nothing to die for
There are better Italian restaurants out there then this
As the resturant just relocated they seem to be still getting used to the change. Otherwise is was an acceptable experience and the waiter was excellent.
Dine out Vancouver.
Service was mediocre at best very slow and the Tiramisu was very disappointing, small and I didn’t taste any mascarpone. Lobster bisque had 2 minuscule pieces of lobster I could barely see it. Was looking forward to a great meal experience for our first visit and was very disappointed.
Service was mediocre at best, and unfortunately the food did not make up for it
We booked a table for the dine out experience . We used to frequent the other location often, and thought we would try the new location out. Our server acted annoyed and wasn’t attentive or helpful. Our lobster bisque was beyond salty and almost inedible . When we left the host was chomping down on a subway sandwich. We thought that was very unprofessional . Who greets guests while eating subway ? Weird . All I all we miss the old Francesco’s .
Food was terrible. From appetizer being bland, entree being dry, and dessert being wet and moist. And on top of that, service being non existence with the waiter, but hostess was nice - hung our coats and asked how everything was after dinner.
Was probably one of the worst and most disappointing restaurant choices we have made. Terrible management, unpersonable service, and mediocre food. All were reasonably easy to fix but considering other reviews, the management does not seem to be placing a priority on improvement. Read reviews after we booked and was hoping the positives were actual reviews but doubt it. Go somewhere else....
We went for Dineout Vancouver and our experience was a disappointing gong show. When we arrived, the Manager seemed totally confused as to where to seat us. He offered us a high booth in the lounge, which we declined so then he offered us a table directly in front of the entrance so everytime the front door opened, a draft came directly to our table. I booked my reservation weeks in advance and as an OpenTable VIP, I expected a nice table in the dining room, which I requested in my notes on the reservation. The Manager was totally oblivious and simply walked away leaving us to fend for ourselves. We eventually moved to the high top in the lounge as it was better than freezing all night. The service was extremely slow, we didn't get bread until almost an hour after we arrived, and finally asked if we could give our order, as the drinks were taking forever to arrive. Two of us ordered Lobster Bisque, which both arrived ice cold. The Caesar salad arrived warm, instead of crisp and cold. The entrees were all hot and tasty so that was the highlight of the evening. The desserts were good as well. They seemed totally overwhelmed and under staffed, and I really took offense by the Manager's lack of consideration and poor attitude. At the end of the evening, we asked to speak to him to voice our concerns about our dining experience, and were told he was too busy to speak to us. However, I saw him standing at the front entrance doing nothing. I was really insulted by his behaviour and obviously he has little customer service experience. I would rather take my business elsewhere.
the service top notch right from walking in the door. The food was well prepared with excellent ingredients and well presented. the restaurant was full and lively but not too load to be able to have a relaxed conversation.
We try the Dinne Out Vancouver menu last weekend. The food and service was good. The seafood linguine was very impressed and tasty and also the dessert was delicious. If the linguine 's portion has much more it will be wonderful.
Took longer than expected but food was tasty
Newer restaurant. Needs work in social skills for the waiters.
Went on New Year’s Eve and disappointed by the overall experience. I booked on Open Table and, unlike other restaurants in the area, there was no mention of a ‘New Year Special’. On arrival there was also no mention of a ‘New Year Special’. We ordered drinks and were then handed a New Year’s Eve menu with no price on it. At this point I had to ask the waiter what the deal was to be told that it was $100 per person for a 4 course meal. Given the usual Open Table $ rating the cost appeared high. Given the time, 1930, and likelihood of finding a table at another restaurant in the area we had little choice but to stay at the restaurant. Regardless, I feel that the restaurant should have been more up front in publishing details of the limitations of their New Year’s Eve service. The food choices and quality were good but it was hard to justify the expense of the meal for 4. Maybe worth a visit at the $ rate but not worth the $600 total for 4 on New Year’s Eve.
Took them 20 minutes to get us water and let us know they ran out of all meat.
Although we had a reservation booked from the day before.
I would absolutely never go there again!
Even had to help ourselves grab our coats as noone was there to help.
On the Christmas Eve. They had fixed course meal. Appetizer, secondly, main and dessert. Food was good. But the service was okay and it took forever that the food was served. I get it that it was a busy night but it took 2 hours to get the second meal was served. We have2 well behaved kids but it was too long for them. We decided to take main and dessert to the hotel. The host was kind of rude too. Again food was great but they kind of ruined our Christmas dinner. Oh top on that, drinks were bad. My Jameson and soda was so weak and Manhattan tasted just Vermouth... It was $70 Canadian each course.
Christmas Eve with our parents who
I thought it closed down, I am happy to hear it just relocated. Love the food, the wine list was great, and the service was amazing. Only thing was that the food took a little longer than usual.
Our server(I'm sorry I forgot his name) was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.
Very sad to see Don Francesco’s is not what it used to be. Rude staff, poor food.
Food always good . And happy to find out for reopen.
But server was little cold. Never never smile.
The server had an attitude, came across as grumpy and not interested in being there.
Noted another couple who when they finally got their food it was cold. Their server left his section and started bartending???
They need to get there servers trained properly. Won't be back, unless we hear their servers and service level has drastically improved.
It's a nice place overall, the reason of low ranking is a sort of occasional incident (I hope!). It was a birthday lunch to celebrate two my co-workers and we decided to take them out to this new place that just opened recently next to our office... What a surprise... There was nobody at the reception when we arrived at 12.10, we had to wait for someone about 10 minutes. The place was not busy, about half full or even less, but still we had to wait for some time for our orders to be taken... By that time we had already spent like 30 mins at the place and were expecting fast service. But, we spent over an HOUR waiting for our orders. Yes, it was a group of 6, but I'd say even for a dinner it's a long waiting time. The place offered us a free Caesar's salad to share while we were waiting and changed our bread plates several times... They came up with an excuse that there were a lot of arguments in the kitchen.. We spent over 2 hours for a lunch break! My boss eventually got upset and left even before we paid our bill as he had a meeting. And he was one of the reasons we came there!!! Embarrassing! After we had our meals the restaurant also offered us a birthday treat, but the mood was already completely ruined and we were not able to enjoy our meal. I guess, it was OK. By the time we left, all guests that were there at other tables at lunch, were gone. May be it is common for a new place, I don't know, but we definitely won't go there for lunch neither take our visitors, at least any time soon. Just make sure your schedule may be adjusted in case if your waiting time is longer compared to other places.
We loved our dinner last Sunday evening. Waiter Shaun was warm and friendly, efficient and helpful
The food was lovely!
My only issue was the reservation itself. I was called an hour before we were to arrive, to let us know that we would not be in dining room but lounge. We made a reservation over a month early, and I thought that this was inconsiderate. We ended up in a side area beside kitchen. The chairs felt like patio chairs, and we were off to the side of the kitchen. Thankfully the glass partition was closed, which refused noise to make it a more enjoyable experience.
Reservation was for 8:30. They made us wait over 1 hour for a table after telling us they were just about to set our table when we arrived. “ please wait at the bar”. Sat 5 of us at a massive round table for 10. About 9:30.
At 10:30 they turned the lights up while they were taking tables
Amazing as always! So glad the restaurant reopening. It is by far my favourite restaurant!
Will not return! The service was terrible! It 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive , we had to ask for our orders to be taken and then it took another hour for the meals to arrive. When they arrived all three were cold. It took 3 attempts and 15 minutes for a clean wine glass to be brought and in the end I had to grab from another table.
Nothing was done to mitigate the service and we were charged for the whole bill! Even when our waiter said I wish there was something I could do to make up for it
It was a great dining experience. It exceeded our expectations. When a mistake happened with our meal, the Chef came out and personally delivered a new plate.
Although the restaurant was not busy at 6:30 on a Friday evening, the server took 10 minutes to come over to offer water and to take our order. The server had a lazy attitude, did not list any chef's specials, and was generally indifferent to providing good service. The bread was served by a different person 10 minutes later (the bread was nice), but we had to ask for our drinks to come. Once the food arrived, we were surprised at how small the portions were, given the price. The taste was OK, but we could have gotten twice the size of portions for half the price at another establishment for the same taste and similar quality of ingredients. Because we were already unimpressed by the service, and our conversation was drowned out by one large table of loud patrons, we had no interest in staying for dessert. We promptly paid our bill and left to have dessert elsewhere. The hostess, however, was very friendly.
Amazing food! Lots of great options. Little high priced however standard $ for the area.
Great place so happy they are back!!!!,,,,,,
Very nice decor.
Got a bit of water view
Food is excellent. Prices are reasonable for an upscale restaurant
My lobster pasta was very yummy
The complimentary bread was very very good
Service was hit and miss.
My server didn't seem very experienced despite an older age
Overall I would recommend
Molto buono!! Can’t wait to go back. My history with this restaurant goes back to Francesco Alongi’s in Richards in the early 80’s. Francesco is my all time fav Vsncouver restaurateur. Sorry Umberto, Pino, John et al. Only question is - who is going to be singing opera now?? 😎
Very happy to see this restaurant back on the Vancouver dining scene. Commendable service and nicely prepared cuisine
Server was excellent, quick and nice. Food was delicious!
I haven't been to Don Francesco in over 10 years so decided to give it a try. We had a large group and got the private room which was nice. The overall service was slow and seemed really unorganized. They didn't know where any of the food went and we basically had to tell them who ordered what when it came. For a fine dining establishment I find that unacceptable. Took a while for the food and dessert to come out, maybe they were short staffed but the restaurant was only half full at most. I probably wouldn't go back here again.
Horrible service and horrible food . Quality was repulsive
We made reservations for a group of friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We had dined at the original location and hand enjoyed the service and quality of food very much.
The new location is quite nice, but the food and service were not at the same level as with my first visit. For food, I had the meatballs, which were slightly dry and overly-firm texture. The sauce was on the bland side. I also had a steak, while my companions had various pasta options. In keeping with the overall theme, the dishes were adequate, but nothing memorable or outstanding in terms of flavor.
Similarly, the service was OK, not outstanding. Appreciate our waiter suggesting an alternative to a wine we wanted that was out of stock, and offering an alternate they didn't usually sell by the glass.
The prices still reflect a higher-end restaurant, in contrast to several of the newer, more casual Italian restaurant options. For me, this drives down the value for money.
Enjoyed our dinner there. Will definitely be coming back for more.
We had a large business dinner in the private room provided and all in attendance found every service great
